I was reading up on calculating the electric potential of a point charge and was confused on the integration formula. It's known that the difference in electric potential between points a and b can be calculated using a path integral, shown below (in comment). If we wish to talk about the electric potential at a single point, we need to define a reference, and one commonly defined reference is letting V = 0 at a distance of infinity (i.e. a = infinity). Then, we get an improper path integral that we can use to calculate the potential at a point.
However, if we try to apply this integral to calculate the electric potential near a positive point charge of charge q, I'm confused on why online sources simply replace E.ds with Edr, also shown below. Since we are taking a path from an infinite distance to a finite one, isn't our displacement (radially inward) opposite the direction of the electric field (radially outward), and so wouldn't we need to write E.ds = -Edr?
Writing E.ds = -Edr can't be correct because it would give a negative answer, meaning that potential is negative near a positive point charge (which is incorrect), but I don't see why this doesn't work mathematically. Any and all help is appreciated!

I'm kinda "new" to the game, bought it about a month and a half ago and I already have 400h into it and am loving the experience.
I've been wondering: how bad are hacking issues in official servers? I haven't noticed any strange behaviours from other players but have died a lot and have been recently wondering if any of my deaths were against cheaters.
Is it better or worse in other servers? PS: I'm playing un EU (DE) servers.

2025.01.22 01:08 MrBamaNick ATL is playing my "No Throw" Hammer Game Theory Optimal Strategy
Patrick Cantlay is in charge of the hammer for ATL and I believe he read my post on the Game Theory Optimal strategy for the TGL Hammer. Going into hole 9 they have yet to throw the hammer.
To summarize my previous post on the TGL Hammer. It is negative EV to ever throw the hammer unless you are about to lose the game and have to in order to stay in the game. Essentially, if neither team throws the hammer then the team with the hammer can still make a comeback even when down 2 on the last hole. So the math works out that you should never throw the hammer unless absolutely necessary.
ATL has had multiple chances to throw the hammer and haven't. The fans are calling for it, but ATL has stayed firm. I have some rule changes in the works to encourage more hammer throws! I will post them later after I am done modeling them.

 | I still can't believe I actually found the cybertruck! I really thought I'd never find it. So now I've completed the Rolling Metal set :) Safeway got 4 new cases today and put two out today, they're putting the other two up tomorrow morning so I'm going to look through those after my collage class. But I found 3 TH's in those two cases! Two of the Ford supervans and a rolling metal DMC DeLorean. Plus the cybertruck! I'm glad I needed to buy water since our fridge is broken and I don't like tap water 😅 wouldn't have found these if I didn't need it! I just moved to a new state and haven’t opened my gaming laptop since. Saw that they did another one of those famous launching updates back in June of 2024. FONV/FO4 run fine, as well as a crap ton of other higher quality games, so I know I meet it’s “minimum requirements” Anyone know a work around? Someone usually makes a YT video giving a suggestion/solution, but one has not popped up yet.

Hello all, I just received my first job offer and would appreciate your thoughts!
Specialty: Hepatology - rotating 2 months inpatient and 1 month outpatient clinic
Schedule: 8-5 M-F and 1 weekend per month (the APPs did say they normally leave around 3 weekdays and noon on weekends)
Salary: 115k base with 1k for every weekend worked. So with 12 weekends required annually it would be a total of 127k. Additional weekend days compensated at $500 per day
Health insurance: Variety of plans with medical, dental, vision
Malpractice: The actual letter just says “professional liability coverage shall be provided by your employer”
401k: Not included in the offer letter for some reason so will be following up on that but when I spoke on the phone they said 3% to start and then increase after 4 years
CME: 3k once employment begins (no reimbursement for license, DEA)
PTO: 25 days including holidays, vacation, cme
This would be in a moderate to high cost of living area working for a large hospital group. I did shadow for a day already and loved the team & SP. I like hepatology and think I would enjoy it; they also do transplant and oncology pts, which I find super interesting.
I’m happy with the offer, but I’m going to ask if the base salary is negotiable because why not. It was hard to find info on hepatology salary so I just said a range of 115-120 and he said 115k is the standard offer for new grads doing inpatient medicine. I think I’ll also ask if I can get any sort of sign on bonus and/or retention bonus.
Please let me know if this offer is decent for a new grad and if I should ask about anything else!
