2025.01.22 01:17 TheRoyalGalaxy22 What finite and human crimes/actions could be worthy of infinite punishment? (NSFW because it’s a sensitive topic)(spoils cuz major spoilers for part 5 JoJo’s)
I’ve been asking myself about this for a long time, but I cannot think of any possible actions that would be truly worthy of a punishment that lasted forever. Examples could be like Hell in Christianity, or Diavolo’s death loop from JJBA part 5. The people being punished obviously deserve punishment, as they have sinned and broken god’s law, or Diavolo just being a horrible and monstrous person. but tbh, even with there being crimes, I can’t see them as worthy of infinite punishment. Starting with Christianity, I understand that in the containment of the Bible anything against god is inherently seen as infinitely wrong, and as such despite me not agreeing that it’s worthy of punishment for some sins (I.E. being gay, believing in another god, or just not believing in god) I understand that in the context of the Bible being true, those things are naturally wrong whether I agree or not, however, I simply cannot agree not understand in any context the idea of eternally punishing somebody for any finite crime. Without, that is, a form of repentance, if Christianity were to all naturally agree that somebody could repent while in hell and once they truly learned the error of their ways they could move on to heaven, or at least somewhere that isn’t eternal damnation, I would understand, but most sects of Christianity that I have seen to be prominent in the world all agree that hell is forever and even if you were to turn to god while in hell you would still suffer for the rest of eternity (which, mind you, is literally forever). And with the idea that god is “all loving” it makes zero sense that he would allow that eternity to be pure suffering with no chance to change your ways.
As for Diavolo, I personally believe his punishment was purely and objectively not righteous. There is no god shown in JoJo’s and there is no objective truth to show that what he did was infinitely evil, yet, he was still dealt an infinite punishment, and, this infinite punishment was dealt by a mere human. I feel like he’s somewhat guilty for a punishment of the variety as he was attempting to get the Requiem arrow so he could rule over eternity (fate itself), and despite GER being a stand that changes Fate just like KC, it also repairs it to some degree, so I guess in Diavolo’s case it could be argued to some degree that GER only enforced the punishment it was fated to enforce, however, even with Fate being the possible judge to deal out the infinite punishment, it simply does not constitute the idea of punishing Diavolo infinitely, somewhere along that line, he has to change, it’s an infinite amount of time, and no matter what, at some point he will begin to feel guilt for his actions and realize why he was punished like this, but when that finally happens he will continue to die, and after his just about of death has been dealt it will still even then continue, at some point along eternity he had to have changed enough to be considered a different, and this I raise the idea of “innocent”, man. What are your thoughts on this?

I remember that maybe a year ago I randomly had a strong urge to become an Independent Lutheran Proselytizer and convert others to Lutheran Christianity once I became an adult. I was going to wear something similar to this and try to convert others using tactics like reading the Bible out loud in outside areas (Megaphone is optional), knocking on doors, approaching individuals, etc. Of course, I would still have a job, but this was something I wanted to do. I'm still Lutheran, but I no longer have the urge to do this.

I’m closing on a new construction home in about 2 months and a few days back I visited to take a look and found some things which is making me nervous. I waived inspection since it was a new construction home and I did not want to miss out on this build due to the time restrictions I had. The builder company is a family run business and the team is very helpful and communicative. Very professional!
I noticed every door frame has a weird cut on top of same pattern. Some windows have the bottom wooden piece misaligned Stairs has two step floors cracked
Should I be concerned? Please let me know if you need more info.

It's just too damn big and heavy. I bought it yesterday and I've tried to love it but I'll be returning it tomorrow and getting the 11 inch. I checked it out in the store multiple times before I bought it so it wasn't exactly purchased on a whim but when you're in the store you don't have a real feel for how heavy and unwieldy it is. I'm also going to be returning the smart cover as I find it's pretty useless. The angle at which the iPad sits up is too steep to feel stable imo maybe this will be different with the 11inch. Also my pencil pro is constantly falling off in my bag because it's not really secure and I see on amazon they have cases that will hold the pencil for a fraction of the price.

2025.01.22 01:17 New-Detective-3163 How Can I Live Life with a Dog with Separation Anxiety that HATES her Crate?
Adopted a rescue 6 months ago, she is on Clomicalm for excitability and it’s made a world of difference. But she still cannot be left home alone without being crated. She used to bark and pace constantly when left alone, she even destroyed my blinds. But when we crate and cover her, she does fine.
However, she’s starting to hate her crate, and has come to associate it with me leaving. She will shake or flee to the bedroom when I’m getting ready to leave, refuses the crate command, and sometimes I have to “trick” her by sitting in the crate, tossing treats into it, or physically carrying her into the crate. When I put her down in front of it, she walks in. I play “calming dog music” on the TV, but I think that’s also becoming a trigger for her.
She’s really starting to hate going in the crate if I’m even near her because she seems worried I’ll close it. She also used to refuse to eat while I was gone, but now she does (after Clomicalm). She already has all her meals in the crate. I think maybe she is just bored when crated? I leave out a variety of things for her, and find she only touches the kibble and wet food, not puzzle toys or treats.
She is usually in there for 1-5 hours, because I work half days in the office/field 3x a week (It’s the best my boss could do for my dog). This girl I’m seeing also wants to take me out a lot, and wants to go on shopping sprees, but it’s hard with my dog.
How can I live without stressing my dog out more? How can I get my dog to like her crate and willingly go into it? Or is this something I can’t change, like dogs that hate the bath or the vet?
Any advice is deeply appreciated.

Hi guys and thanks. Brought my car (2016 Terrain Denali - 80k) into the dealer for a simple oil change. While there, I was told that the TPMS sensors were about to go. Ok, the car is 9 years old. What didn’t seem ok was the cost of replacement. Dealer wanted about $225 per wheel. Is this a fair price or is it crazy stupid. Simple job that any tire company can do?

I've been messing around spawning stuff in my main save file that I'm in with some friends and my character is unable to pick up and use gliders currently. I've reloaded the game and it hasn't fixed it. I'm assuming that my character technically has a glider "in my inventory" so to speak, so I can't pick up the glider and fly around currently.
Is there anyway that I can delete the inaccessible glider from my inventory so I can pick up a new one and fly? If so, any ideas on the commands?

2025.01.22 01:17 light24bulbs Project help: I need to get some LVDS ADC signals into my raspberry pi. Do I have any options besides an FPGA? Is an FPGA not as hard as I think it is?
I'm building an open source sonar system, a DVL actually to be specific but it isn't important. The backend will be a raspberry pi 5. I need a parallel ADC with at least three channels (or seperate ADCs with some kind of exact clock sync) https://www.analog.com/en/products/ad4857.html These ADCs all seem to use LVDS output as far as I can tell. The data rate is just a bit too high for SPI at 1msps. I need some way to get those signals out of the ADC and onto my hard disk. Total sample times will only be on the order of a second meaning I really only need to buffer tens of megabytes if the Pi can't catch up. Maybe 50MB tops.
I don't know FPGA programming and it seems like a whole world. Some folks are using the ICE40 FPGA to do what I need, so I know it's possible. An FPGA would have a few benefits for me as it could also help sequence very tightly controlled pulses for the sonar TX. I could probably get around it with an MCU, though. My signals are in the 1-200khz range which really isn't THAT fast. Is there some sort of purpose-built IC or MCU with fast and dedicated LVDS processing that could handle this instead of an FPGA? Is the FPGA not as scary as I think it is? What is the easiest way to dip my toes into this? I'm sure Claude can write the really hard parts but I still may need to deal with peripherals like RAM and flash, figure out how to program and boot an FPGA, etc. It's clearly no ESP32.
One thing that irks me is sonar is really just barely out of the range of audio equipment. Audio equipment obviously works fine with communication standards like i2s and so on at 192khz samping, which is unfortunately just a little too slow. Very frustrating because all of that stuff is off the shelf and ready to go, and can almost do what I need. And that pipeline is very simple to implement.
Any help you data-aquisition or FPGA folks can give me will be a big help! Thanks!
