2025.01.22 04:15 King_Kea PC Upgrade Query - Currently barely playable
Hey folks, just got the Aurora MR package last week and have been trying to do the tutorial... I grossly underestimated how much my rig would struggle. I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB of RAM and a 3060ti. GPU is fine, but task manager reckons I'm maxing the CPU and RAM. I do have the game installed on a DRAMless NVME drive. (3.0 speeds)
Currently looking at my upgrade options and one option I have available is to get a 5700x3D and switch to 32GB of RAM, which would set me back around $600 NZD. Another option is to save up for a lot longer and work towards switching over to AM5 and picking up a 9600x/9700x (or if I really go all out, a 9800x3D).
At the moment the 5700x3D + more RAM option seems the best pick since I'm budget-limited currently.
Do you guys have any advice? What sort of performance do you reckon I would get with a 5700x3D and 32GB RAM?
For reference, if I run the game now starting the tutorial on New Babbage I'm sitting anywhere from 10-20 fps with a LOT of stutter. And the stutter gets bad too - I started the quantum drive in the tutorial ship and my screen froze for about 10 seconds.

2025.01.22 04:15 hcgal98 Nugus and Disbanded Groups: Don't Be Afraid to Give Them Love
One of the things I've been very afraid to do since I've got into K-Pop is getting into nugu and disbanded groups. The heartache and disappointment just sounded like something I wasn't prepared for, and in fairness to myself, maybe I wasn't. But recently, I pushed myself into checking out three nugu/disbanded groups. I've been getting more involved in following more nugu groups. It's hard when you see the lack of content or when you realize how they tried and couldn't succeed. But at the end of the day?
It was worth it. It was so worth it. The time will pass anyway, so why not give them time with one more fan? The effort in the music has already been placed, so why not enjoy it and appreciate it even after years? K-Pop can be so focused on the present; the past is only celebrated if it was popular enough, but the smaller groups deserve love and appreciation, and I'm happy to give it to them.
I don't post this to shame anyone. If you're not ready for that step, wait until you are. But if you have a group you've been thinking about but are nervous because of these facts. . . .
Just give it a try. I highly doubt you'll regret it.

Hi for context I'm a 25f engaged to a 25m he has suffered from extreme porn addiction, he has cheated in the past never in person just on line, when I say extremely porn addiction I mean his entire day was revolving around porn not to masturbate to but just to watch just to look at around 6 to 8 hours of his day was just looking or watching or drawing it and like every addiction he was searching for a higher high watching move violent intense stuff it was getting bad he tried to kill himself over it and was hospitalized for over a month and a half and when he got out he relapsed he told me and we are handling it he is in support groups and thearapy and treatment for it , a key part of recovery is having someone keep you accountable for your actions he choose me to do that so his phone is mirrored on my phone and his Xbox isn't allowed in the house untilhe can get better he also has a PlayStation 5 his therapist and doctors both told me to limit access to Internet use which I do and I check his phone regularly, he has 2 younger brother 24m and 16m and they knows some but not all this is where it gets interesting his family ( except his mom because she knew the extent of it) hates me and things I'm controlling his brothers feel like they can't have a private conversation with him but I don't check his messages or read messages between his family I found this out because my fience told me they see that I am doing these things but not why I am doing these things idk if I should tell them or ask my feince to tell them because I don't feel comfortable going over at his parents house I aviod holidays because I don't want to be around people who hate me my feince is mad I wont go or be around people who repeatedly talk shit on me so am I the asshole? ( Sub note I am not against porn I use to personally do content and I used to watch it with my partner I have stopped because of this obviously and I am only doing these things in hopes I can help him get better )

TLDR I'm trans, I work for the government getting prescriptions to Medicare/Medicare patients. The last couple days everything I care about has come under threat. I'm terrified.
I'm a transgender man (born female), late twenties. I'm a model American citizen. I was born here, I have never committed a crime, I am educated, I work in healthcare helping low/no income people get the medications they need to survive. My job is technically with the government.
The government owns my health insurance and retirement plan. They pay my salary. They own the bathrooms and locker room I use every morning. They can tell me what I can wear at work and what can go on my name tag. They determine what actions by coworkers or management constitute harassment.
I love my job. It's kinda my life. We make money by charging medicare/Medicaid. If those programs are gutted or prescription prices raise so high even our insured patients can't afford them we are going to stop making money and then I will loose my job. On top of it all many of my patients will loose their lives. I'm not saying might. They will. Some might die a few years to a decade down the line, but some maybe in a week or a month. There's medications they simply cannot survive without taking, the big one being insulin of course.
Outside of my job I'm just scared. The most powerful people in the world want me gone. Say it however you like, but that is what they want, for trans people to no longer exist. Nobody in my life can seem to wrap their minds around that fact. The absolutly justified terror that statement brings. Like every other trans person I know, going back and trying to force myself to live as a girl is unimaginable. I would rather die. I keep wondering at what point do I leave my state for safer waters. Maybe I should be looking into leaving the country. I just don't want to leave my home and family.
All I can think about is my ancestors. The ones who left Germany early, when it was "nothing but talk", were seen as stupid. People stayed and stayed because they didn't want to abandon their homes, because they trusted humanity to not allow such horrors, they realized how smart those who left first were. Maybe I will soon be looking back in terror wondering why I didn't listen to my gut.
Nobody can tell I am transgender unless I am standing there naked. Can't hurt what you can't identify. That's why Nazis started requiring the wearing of gold stars. Easy identification of a minority group is part of what makes campaigns against them effective. Making IDs state ones biological sex serves no practical purpose. With a photo, a name, and a sex marker it's rather easy to figure out if a person is trans. If my name is Bob, you saw my bearded face, and then saw F on my ID, you would know I'm trans. Not as simple or effective as a star but it works.
I'm terrified and history has taught me I'm right to be. All I want from life is to be happy and do good and both of those things, my ability to be myself and my job, are teetering over an edge. My family says I'm over reacting. That all this won't actually be allowed to happen. It is happening. States are already following suit. I am right to be scared. I just wish it all wasn't so uncertain.
