Hey guys,
Sorry if this post seems stupid, but I’d like some advice if anyone has any.
I‘d like to go to the gym to start improving my looks, but I’m really insecure and shy as is. I’m pretty slim (120 pounds). I have a really baby like face for a 23y/o, and I sometimes get mistaken for a high schooler lol. I am extremely self conscious about this for some odd reason.
I know it’s normal to have anxieties about being judged and feel intimidated about going to the gym. As awful as it is to say I guess I’m a blend of wimpy and not athletic, but guys have also told me I have a nice toned body.
I just get really intimidated and nervous around hot, muscular guys or straight guys in general lol. Having been rejected by muscular guys before, I can’t help but have thoughts and associate it as not being attractive / fit enough, which I feel this “perception” has already added more negative anxiety as stupid as it is to admit.
I just moved to a new city, and don’t really have any friends / family to go with to ease the anxieties a bit. The idea of going by myself seems possible, but I’d probably get an anxiety attack unfortunately. In between college, I also work a physically intense job with a lot of heavy lifting which I feel already makes me burn so many calories, I’m worried going to the gym might make me lose more weight? I am also vegetarian, so I feel trying to build muscle or gain weight and suit this diet may be “harder” although I’m sure possible.
I know I’m overthinking this all, sorry I just wanted to ask other guys here in the context that I feel like maybe other guys would understand where I’m coming from : (
Any advice or tips?

I'm new to Proxmox and seeking advice on setting up my home server.
My goal is to host Home Assistant and other services such as a password manager and document management. I'm using a spare Dell Optiplex 5050 with an i3-7100 processor and 64GB of RAM.
My system has three drives:
- 256GB SSD SATA (for Proxmox installation)
- 4TB SSD NVME (for LXC/VM storage)
- 4TB HDD SATA (for backups of the NVME drive)
I'm uncertain about the best approach for swap configuration. I've read conflicting information, ranging from the notion that swap is unnecessary with huge RAM to the idea that Linux excels at swapping and that it should always be used.
I'm considering using ZFS as my primary file system for its snapshotting capabilities and robustness. However, there are concerns about the compatibility between swap and ZFS.
I have several questions:
- Should I create a dedicated swap partition - best case configured as ext4?
- Should only the host have swap, or should VMs have their own swap space as well? (I understand that LXCs can potentially use the host's swap.)
- Is a single swap partition sufficient for both the host and VMs/LXCs, and if so, on which disk should it reside? Alternatively, should I create separate swap partitions for the host and VMs/LXCs?
- What's the recommended size for the swap partition(s)?
I appreciate any guidance you can offer.
