Hi there,
So my wife 29 F) and I (30 M) have 2 children (both under the age of 5) and we live in an 850 square foot apartment.
I work full time for a HCM company, and she works for a dance studio. She is considered part time (she only works 3 days per week) and makes most of her income is from chorography and classes. The first half we squeak by, but the second half we struggle immensely. Her 1st half paycheck is around 2,200 dollars, but her second half is only 250 dollars.
We have over 6000 dollars per month in bills, and also living expenses, and expenses for our children.
Financially it has been extremely rough. I suggested to see if she could take on some extra work on one of her off days but she believes that since her job is not a, "normal" job, and is more physically demanding that she doesn't have energy to take on extra side work while also working at the dance studio and taking care of the kids.
I work from home, so I often wear multiple hats while simultaneously working. I work, I clean the apartment, and also take care of the kids. I also squeeze job searching time at night for a few hours because it's impossible to do anything extra from when the kids wake up to when they go to bed.
She works 2nd shift, so she often comes home around 9:30-10pm, on the days she does work. Due to this. she often doesn't have much energy to clean when she comes home, so the expectations are that the apartment is clean when she gets home. The expectations are that I take care of the finances and any upcoming bill payments. The expectations are that I find a way to make things work financially if we are struggling with income.
With that said, I am at an impasse. I take on the majority of the load with making sure the bills are paid, the apartment is clean, while also taking on extra side work after I get off from my main job to making extra income by cleaning houses.
It's becoming really difficult to be the one who carries the entire load. Not to diminish what she does, but with that said, I believe that there should be some extra effort on her end to help out with the bills - but because she feels like she already does too much and does enough as is, I can't really push that needle.
It sucks because we both want more from our life - we want a house, we want to be able to take a vacation, give our kids the world and then some. Its like we have the same vision of where we want to be, but I'm in the pilot seat to make sure we get there.
It genuinely sometimes feels like a high school biology project, and you pair up with the person that you know will do all the work, while you text on your phone and try to scrape by from being an equal partner.
So I am here asking for advise on how to proceed? How do you proceed with someone that doesn't have the same desire to put in the extra work and effort? How do you proceed with someone that doesn't feel like a 50/50 partner, but rather someone that feels that as a mother, she should have less of a work load compared to the man?
I feel rather burned out at this point, and not sure what to do.

 | Is there a reason why my WMI is 2 standard deviations below my other categories? I also struggle to understand why my working memory is poor while my long-term memory is solid. I’ve been able to recall many different conversations, actions, and events that occured in my past (from kindergarten to now, 20M). I remember all my meals from the last week and even slightly beyond. When i listen to music, I’m able to immediately identify the year and sometimes even the month in which i first discovered the song, for e.g. i’m able to recall almost every pop song that trended on the MTV Chart Attack/Top Hits back in 2013/2014/2015/2016 etc. Just anecdotally, I’m able to remember most of the notable events that me and my primary/secondary school friends experienced together back then in greater detail than my friends, inclusive of the exact words that they said. I also notice that I’m still able to vaguely recall the geography/history/biology/social studies notes that I memorised 4 years ago, while subjects which i learned more recently like economics are still fresh in my mind since i took the subject in 2021 and 2022. I pride myself on my memory, which has helped me achieve perfect scores on my national standardised exams (O and A levels). I’m therefore stupefied by the discrepancy between my long-term and working memory. Also, what does this mean going forward? 2025.01.22 07:03 starbits64 Long Time Pokemon Fan Looking at Scarlet/Violet + Legends Arceus
I am a huge Pokemon and Nintendo Fan and I have played all mainstream games (minus SV), alongside the side games like Pokemon Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, and Pokepark for the Wii. It's sad to say as I grew older I've been more out of the loop with Pokemon due to being unsatisfied with the newer Pokemon games. However I want to give another chance to something that hugely shaped my childhood. The 2 games I have not yet played is Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Are any of them worth playing? Gen 4 is my 2nd favorite gen and is filled with emotional nostalgia for me, but I know the gameplay and mechanics are different. However since it's Sinnoh based, I wouldn't want to see one of my favorite gens butchered. On the other hand, I'm considering playing Scarlet/Violet because it's a mainstream game and I've played all mainstream games whether I like them or not, just to keep the streak going. So why make this one an exception? However I heard that there were many technical glitches and bugs, as well as a story that isn't as good as the older gens. Are any of these 2 newer games worth a play? Please let me know! I want to get back into Pokemon. :-)

2025.01.22 07:03 ThanosDad 50 years old, retired, what to do with Roth IRA?
So I'm 50 and recently retired. I have about $33k in my Roth IRA and rolling over an additional $77k from my employer Roth Retirment account for a total of around $110k in my Roth IRA.
What to do with it? I've currently got some in SPYU (yes I know how volatile it is and it won't be in there long, as I plan to bounce after January). Some in essentially VOO, and about $8k in SCHD.
For info sake, I have a pretty decent pension and can take money unfettered from my taxed retirment account. Due to living overseas on an Army base, don't really need to delve into the tax deferred so I can let that grow as well.
As I can't really get into my Roth IRA for another 10 years, and really don't need too, where does a guy out it?
I thought about just doing something like 70% SCHG and 30% SCHD?
I do like the dividend aspect, but really, with 10 years left and already having $110k in there, maybe a guy just let's it sit fully in SCHG and never look at it again to capture the hopefully 10 yr average of >16%?
Thoughts?

I took the plunge with the Pimax Crystal Light, trading in my G2 with their $80 rebate offer. The visuals are undeniably sharp, but the build quality could use improvement—there’s a slight creak when adjusting the headset. Comfort-wise, it’s okay after tweaking the fit with aftermarket pads. If you’re into high-end sims, it’s worth considering, but don’t expect perfection out of the box. The image clarity and wider FOV are fantastic for spotting track details and cockpit instruments. However, the default face gasket let some light in until I made adjustments. It’s a solid option if your PC can handle the added performance demands.

i might have been messing with it a bit much, and ive been cleaning it around 2-3 times a day with a saline spray, it rarely bleeds and when it does its a little bit,, its been about 11 days since i got it. is it okay ? i also get liquid/sticky stuff around it im not sure if its normal .. also one more thing, theres a brownish mark that appeared on my lip randomly? im guessing it might be because my lips are dry and maybe something got stuck like blood but i wasnt sure,, but anyways,, would appreciate any help !! i suppose its a good time to express what i’m feeling right now , or at least partly how i am feeling. i’m experiencing a lot of pain , migraines , weird foul oders and nasua. my phone is doing a lot of bizarre glitches and it’s as if people all around are acting extremely strange when i’m around them . i’ve got emence intrusive thoughts and this bizarre what feels like tourette’s ticks and mental intrusive thoughts, patterns . physcosis and delusions have a tendency to override my mind and it’s as if i’m under the influence of something i not know about . - perhaps another delusion and i’ve got to be grateful i’m still alive and have the things i do in life . to whoever is going through anything remotely close to these symptoms , i wish you well and hope you can find some gratitude in any of the suffering- i know i’ve had to reach beyond limits i’ve ever wanted to in search of solice and inner peace .
