Lo dico da viaggiatore esperto, che visita circa 4 nuovi paesi ogni anno. Non utilizzo social media. E non lo dico per motivi di sostenibilità, un tema sicuramente importante, ma non al centro di questo topic.
In poche righe vorrei però riassumere tutto ciò che i viaggi non danno, contrariamente all'idea che viene diffusa recentemente.
Innanzi tutto, i viaggi non aprono la mente: al massimo ti fanno notare che in Europa siamo molto autoreferenziali e che alcuni temi che noi riteniamo importanti, non sono prioritari altrove. Ma difficilmente si ritorna con nuove idee, semplicemente si raccolgono tante impressioni, si collezionano bei ricordi. Si torna mutati, sì, ma mutati come ci cambia costantemente la vita stessa, nella nostra quotidianità.
"Caelum, non animum mutant qui trans mare currunt" è una frase di Orazio, di oltre 2000 anni. Se valeva 2000 anni fa, quando effettivamente c'era molto da scoprire, anche a livello umano, oggi quel senso di scoperta è quasi svanito. Quasi tutti gli itinerari che percorriamo sono stati già battuti. Le uniche novità che ci portiamo dietro sono le piccole esperienze inaspettate che ci accadono mentre siamo in giro.
Torniamo quindi senz'altro con qualcosa da raccontare, ma dobbiamo essere in grado di farlo. E, per esperienza, gli unici che parlano volentieri di viaggi sono gli altri viaggiatori. Gli altri ti fanno la domanda di rito: "Sei stato bene?". E non vogliono una risposta che vada oltre il "sì, tutto bene".
I viaggi non sono una spesa necessaria. Sono probabilmente le spesa più voluttuaria che esista. Se avessi problemi economici, sarebbe la prima cosa che taglierei. A volte leggo di persone che pensano ad un finanziamento per fare un viaggio. Ognuno fa ciò che vuole col proprio denaro e i propri debiti, ma io non lo farei mai.
Infine, voler viaggiare o aver viaggiato tanto non rende persone più "cool", più attraenti o più carismatiche. Io non sono nessuna di queste tre cose. Al massimo, dimostra che si ha abbastanza denaro per farlo. E nemmeno sempre, perché, pianificando bene e perdendoci molto tempo, viaggiare può essere meno costoso di quanto appare.
Con questo, vorrei dire che bisognerebbe viaggiare solo se veramente piace farlo, non per pressioni esterne che spingono a visitare nuovi posti, come fosse una nuova moda. Ogni contraddittorio è ben accetto, così come le opinioni in parte concordi.

when i (almost 19f) was 8 my mom got married to this guy. he is such an asshole , i wish i could just kill this fucker , he is the root cause of all my problems. he already had a kid , she is very nice and hates her dad, she is 34 now and married, she and her husband are nice and she doesn't like her father too. she believes, and i think it is true as well that her father killed her mom( first wife) and she had an unnatural death. i believe my mom knows this, now i suspect her of killing my dad, i was told he( my dad) passed away when i was 5 to cancer while he had a mysterious death and a perfectly healthy human , but i don't think that's true . everytime i ask my mom regarding this, she ignores me or tells a nicely fabricated story confidently like how those high grade criminals who are too smart to get caught say, where details keep changing and she's definitely not innocent . my mom and her husband are both very influential and extremely clever, they can get away with anything and i am already aware of how big of a con artists they are , certainly a match made in heaven. i can't believe how the fuck my mom is so fucking pick me and ignorant towards me, i wonder if she is even my real mom, but if she weren't she would have already disowned me . my only aim in life is to kill this man at all costs or i wanna see him suffering so very bad and i wish a painful death to him . wishing for that day to come soon . i think some people are just built demonically, very cold hearted , living with no remorse , radiating so much of misery with absolutely no fear and retrospection. i have delved very deep into this issue and now i am thousand percent sure of what all i had a surmise of, this is no more an allegation rather all of it is true, but it will be next to impossible to bring it to anyone's notice. my mom and her husband made me believe that i am mentally ill , my mom calls me schizophrenic ( my paternal uncle was schizophrenic and she says i inherited it ) , i seriously believed something was wrong with me and that i am mentally ill rtrded and needed help, while i was a normal kid. she fucking took me to a psychiatrist to say everything was my fault, scared and threatened to kill me, i am finally coming out of my illusion and i think i am at no fault, i still don't understand if she is really dumb or likes to play dumb for that husband who's abusive and tortured me. i very well remember my dad passed away after we returned back from a trip , it was exactly 2 days after my 5th birthday, as far as i can remember he was not unwell or atleast not in a situation to die in a day or two to cancer, even if i assume he was cancerous and definitely in early stage, he was a jovial person. after my dad's death, when i started to attend school, i saw my mom with some other person a few times, i am not sure if it was the same person , because he doesn't have/ never had this car , color and appearance wise looked different but i am having a very vague memory regarding this. my mom also deleted all of my childhood and baby photos, i had lots of photos with my dad and he used to click pictures , when i was 13 because i had asked her about my dad, she told me later that she wants me to forget everything that had happened and assimilate with my new dad. i was only 5 but my dad was a really loving person and it was tough to undergo
this is all unorganized but i only have intended to put my thoughts here.
