I had a dachshund/Scottish terrier mix for 17 years. Harry was my ride-or-die homeboy. I was there when he came into this world on the 4th of July to his mom I was fostering at the time, and I was there to hold him when he left last August. We have always been a 3-dog family and along with Harry we have Charlie, a Great Dane/lab mix (rescue pup), who is 13 now and Hazel, a 10 year old Golden/lab. Both our old dogs are calm and gentle and were raised around a very small dog so there is no concern with that. I know Charlie is on his way out very soon and Hazel cannot be alone. It was hard enough when Harry died. In November I brought home a Golden Retreiver pup, Jack. He is now a 4-month-old menace (I joke), but like any dog with a pack, he seems to match his energy with theirs much of the time so although he is a pup, he is (fairly) calm and (mostly) well-behaved generally speaking. This is where the problem lies. His pack. His pack is OLD. He is not old. He is very sensitive and he is going to have a broken heart when Charlie leaves us and if I do not add to their pack, when Hazel goes, he will be inconsolable. I’ve experienced this with another golden we had years ago when her companion dog passed. She laid on her grave for weeks. It was terrible. I (think) I really like miniature schnauzers, and would like to know the pros and cons of the breed. I know I would like a small dog (but not tiny) as they are more manageable than my Great Dane. Dachshunds are wonderful but they are stubborn, can be VERY VOCAL and have a crazy prey drive. Also the issue many have with their backs as they age can be so bad. I don’t mind the grooming aspect I assume comes along with this breed, I have the time and money to make sure they are well-groomed. Please tell me what you love about your schnauzer. Also-tell me what you don’t love. When we get a pup, we are in it for the duration. Thanks!

2025.01.22 16:51 Mykawa New Bug, completed ground endeavor with space battle?
Had endeavor to deal polaron damage space, kill captains ground and destroy Borg ships. Did Infected: The conduit advanced (with a polaron build) and when I finished I had completed Polaron space damage and kill captains ground but no destroyed Borg ships. I had not done any ground mission at all today. Will try the Borg endeavor again when 30 mins. are up.

2025.01.22 16:51 Watamelonna Follow-up post on the 150 tribal people raid and the aftermath
Following the advices from my last post. I have made some adjustments to my killbox and decided to take on the raid. Allowing it to look like this. The best advice was to add the barricade to the entrance and changing the walls to plasteel so they dont break easily under my own bullets.

I have had 2 mortars setup with 2 of my colonists manning them, with one of the blasts killing 12 raiders and 6 on the other raid, with multiple injured raiders. This plus the abundance of traps made the first raid significantly easier though the second raid did look a bit sketchy as the raiders destroyed the two outer doors in the hallway when they were fleeing, the second party had a much shorter hallway to for a single file and some ballooning still happened, though it were managed.
The 2 mortar shots that managed to hit 12 raiders in one volley
At the end of the raid, there were 115 human corpses in total in the map with most of them being in my killbox. The only injuries sustained were one of my pet rhino that has been with me for almost 2 years now, with scars in both of her eyes and brain.

The amount of bodies will probably drive my colonist into sever depression if i let them cremate them one by one, I plan to use a incendiary launcher to burn the bodies within the killbox, clear the killbox from home zone and cremate the rest.
Finally, I give my thanks to this community that has been nothing but kind to my questions. This is the longest running colony, 4th year in the making and one of the only times I manage to go so far into the game and this is also the single largest raid I have ever attempted to handle.

I’m looking for a specific novel title published on Royal Road.
The novel starts with a man the USA getting attacked by some beast which passes a curse on to him causing him to transform, eventually leave his family behind. He travels to a city where he is confronted with vampires and is eventually introduced to a vampire/supernatural hunter family.
If I’m not mistaken the entity that passes the “curse” onto him also gives him instructions on who/what to hunt. Compelling him to seek out his target.

It matters that he did a gesture that had the potential to be interpreted as a nazi salute, and was widely interpreted as such internationally. This disqualifies him from having any sort of public position or even visibility.
I don't really care what went on in his head when he did it and if he's a genuine nazi or just thoughtless, or had some other specific intent. What matters is the act.
