Can't tell you how heartened I was to see a tremendous number of subs wake up and stop allowing links to that absolute shithole of a site. The fact that the owner seems more determined than ever to rip the mask off and reveal just what an asshole he really is is immaterial; the truth is that it should be banned because, well, the site sucks eight ways to Sunday now. It is unusable if you are not logged in and intolerable if you are logged in, anyone who wants to share something from there can simply take a screenshot.
bayarea should join many other subs in banning links to that site as it's ran by a loser and adds nothing of value to users here. Frankly I'm surprised that nobody else has posted this yet.

Platform(s): PC either Windows 98 or XP
Genre: SHMUP/Bullet hell
Estimated year of release: 1990-2007 aprox.
Graphics/art style: 3d (though you were locked to 2D movement) with a hard Sci-fi aesthetic. Kinda had Mech Warrior vibes with the rusty futurism
Notable characters: None, other than what my kid brain interpreted as a boss of a level that looked like a sun in a cage (not a square cage but a some kind of n-agon) that had spikes and you would shoot in the gaps.
Notable gameplay mechanics: The gameplay mechanics are rather fuzzy as I was very young at the time of playing. I remember the camera was locked behind the ship in 3rd person but it would move forward like a rail shooter and you would shoot on coming enemies.
Other details:
The timeline is very fuzzy because this was just a game that my dad had and I would play it from time to time.
I was not very good, so I didn't get very far. It's tortured me for years and years and I have no clue what this game was. For some reason my brain does vaguely remember it being a numbered entry in a series, but I could be totally wrong.
