2025.01.22 23:20 Prestigious-Issue-41 Over analyzation killing the bedroom
I 40(Hlm) came home from work today and after settling into my normal routine my wife 36(llf) comes into the room and locks the door. Her next words to me are, "Do you want to have a quickie?" I am at first excited as our last attempt at sex was voided do to her needing to relieve herself which killed the mood as I wasn't aware she needed to go so bad and felt like an asshole for having sex with her and her not feeling like she could tell me something so basic during an intimate moment. Bad husband.
My wife seemed like she was trying to make up for the other attempt with this after-work quickie and I was more than ready, until she started saying things which ultimately turned me off completely. Before I could even get fully undressed she had let me know that it was normal for parents to have quickies with kids in the house and differing schedules (I completely agree), after nodding my head she then says I just hope you can be quiet since you hear everything in this house (also agree; don't want the kids knowing what we're up to and possibly traumatizing them), at this point I noticed how anxious she was and tried to re-assure her but she gave me the cherry with "Let's just get this over with." I immediately lost all interest in sex.
Realizing her mistake she tried to reel it back. But I said I wasn't in the mood anymore. This then led to a conversation in which I discovered she could care less about sex and would be fine without it for the rest of her life. At thirteen years married and two kids this is quite a revelation. My wife began to explain that she feels like I over analyze our sex life and this has caused her to want sex less often as she feels like she can't satisfy me. I told her I was sorry I made her feel that way as it wasn't my intent. I tried to explain to her that I had felt her loss of passion and interest in me over last few years and I frustrated by the preceding lack of intimacy or passion from her. Her response was to say to me in exasperation " Why can't you be like any other normal man and just have sex when it's offered." I took a moment to respond as I was bit stunned by this and replied "I don't think it's wrong for husband to want some bit of desire or passion from his wife..."
Wrong thing to say apparently as I now became primary villain numero uno in this exchange. She began twenty minute verbal spillage of why I was wrong. I agreed to disagree and countered with us needing to seek professional help from a marriage counselor. She brought up my past issue with seeing a therapist (one which was proscribed for her anxiety over four years ago) and not really committing to the effort to which I said I would make my best effort if she would, to which she gave some non-comital agreements to as she walked out of the room.
I feel we have some serious communication issues and it seems I am always painted as the antagonist/villain in our talks no matter what qualifiers I use or how lightly I try to tread. I honestly believe a marriage counselor may be our last shot at repairing our marriage let alone the deadbedroom.
(Just for clarification I am pretty thorough with my hygiene and though I could stand to lose some weight though she has never had issue with this in the past)

Hi, I know Berkeley is harder than community colleges in general. Those who transferred from DVC or similar community colleges to EECS, do you think your lower division Physics courses made you well prepared for EECS or they were not enough to handle the Berkeley's rigor? I will post it in other forums as well. Thank you for your honest self assessment. There are so many colleges and each has professors with varying styles of teaching. Some are harder than others, and some are super easy. One can take the easy way, but there is a chance of being under-prepared for the rigors of the UC.
