Orwell was just 40 years off the mark when he predicted that “the party” would tell you to “reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.” Every 4th post I scroll past on anything other than Reddit is some clearly false headline passed off as actual news. When I click on the comments, way too many people seem to believe this bull shit. People clearly don’t know how to decipher truth from fiction and even I fall for some of the more believable stuff until I actually try to read the article and it’s just fake BS after fake BS. I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere but in the United States we live in a fantasy land where truth is subjective and the world is so saturated with falsehoods that it’s impossible to find reality.

My family and I just bought our first home at the beginning of January. We're very happy to be here and immediately set about getting some work done.
One of the things was that there is no hot water to our upstairs bathroom. So we have a plumber come to check the pipes, possibly lay some new ones if necessary, see what the connection is, whatever. After a whole day spent trying to figure out what was going on with the plumbing, he finds the issue --
The upstairs bathroom has its own hot water heater. It was hidden behind a wall in our closet. This was not disclosed to us, our inspector missed it, the appraiser missed it. To cap it all off, the heater is broken and leaking water down into the ceiling.
Previous family lived here for over 20 years and the upstairs is an addition, so they definitely put it in there and then hid it.
This was an as-is sale so I'm fully expecting that I'm just fucked, but how fucked am I? Is there any recourse at all here?

Did Elon Musk tweet about how much he loves ketamine once or something?
I've taken ketamine before. It's a fun if slightly underwhelming drug. It certainly didn't make me go all like Elon.

I filed a claim in 2008, appealed in 2012 and approved in 2020. Got back pay, etc.
I filed an increase last year, now shows my effective date as 10/20/2024.
How does this work as far as the rule where they cant decrease your claim.
I know I'm not using the proper wording to explain what I want to say; hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to say...

So I've been thinking about joining beta club but first I decided to do some research. No matter where I searched they all said "Its for future leaders with average or above grades", or "It's really fun and it looks great on a college resume" but I really want to know, what exactly do you do in beta club?? Like, I know that you do volunteer work but how does it work? Do you do it as a class or alone? What happens during the meetings? Do you take tests, do competitions? WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO??? I know that I'm not the only one asking these questions so please beta club members, give us a basic realistic rundown of a day in beta club.
TLDR; I have no idea what people do in beta club specifically. Please, national beta club members, comment exactly what beta club is like.
