Hey folks. I thought I’d give you an update.
I think I got into a lot of detail in the comments, but I feel like I should mention the following:
- My wife’s stepmother is 45. I’m not “bullying the elderly” here.
- She has 60k followers on Instagram.
- Her Instagram account is not focused solely on my children. She started out as a “lifestyle” blogger. A few years ago, she started posting “family stuff” as well, and now at least half of her content revolves around that.
- She tries to post pictures of my kids every time she takes them. Almost every time we see her, she posts a new picture. She has also posted more photos of my daughter than of my son.
- Both me and my wife are on Instagram, but not very actively. She has a private account and another one for her job. I only have my personal account, in which I rarely post anything. Neither of us have ever posted our children’s faces in any of these accounts.
- My wife doesn’t see her stepmother as a parent (she started dating my father-in-law when my wife was 20), and they’re not very close. My children don’t see her as a grandmother, either.
- This isn’t about me looking for a reason to cut ties with my in-laws. I get along very well with my wife’s father, and besides her behavior concerning social media, I have no problem with her stepmother. I really shouldn’t have to explain why me and my wife don’t want pictures of our children online.
- If you are a parent who has no problem with others posting photos of your kids, that’s fine. I’m not here to change your mind, nor would I attempt to if I were. Your decisions regarding your children are your own, as are mine.
- None of us live in the United States.
That said, we are still not comfortable with our children being posted on social media, and we regret not effectively stopping this sooner. So however we move forward, we need to make it clear that we are serious about this boundary.
A few days ago, my wife and I met her father and stepmother at their place. We left the kids with my wife’s mother. We sat them down and told them we’d retract the ultimatum, but we don’t trust her stepmother not to sneak pictures of our children again.
We decided to propose something many of you suggested: a no-phone policy (which we would ALL abide by) whenever my wife’s stepmother saw our kids. She also would no longer receive any pictures of them from anyone. And if she ever posted a photo of our children anywhere again, then we would cut her off from them.
My father-in-law agreed right away, but his wife got offended. She said we couldn’t control how she used her phone. She tried to promise us she’d stop posting the kids again, but we said no. We can’t trust her anymore, and we have no intention of giving her more chances.
The four of us had an argument about this. My father-in-law mostly took our side. It lasted a while. My wife’s stepmother started by apologizing, but eventually started trying to defend herself. She told us she always thought we were overreacting, and that lots of people post pictures of their children online everyday without any problems.
We asked her why she was so insistent on posting pictures of our kids. She tried to dodge the question at first, but she admitted that posts with the kids got more engagement. She used the New Year’s post as an example. It was only up for a little over 24 hours before she took it down, but she claimed it was one of her most successful posts ever. When I asked her why she thought that had happened, she said it was because the kids “looked so cute in them.”
My wife looked at her stepmother and said “No, it’s because they’re barely dressed in them. You cannot convince us that a photo of our four-year-old daughter in a swimsuit is getting attention from thousands of strangers because she’s cute. Either you’re an idiot, or you know what you’re doing by posting these pictures.”
She started crying. She said her content was wholesome, her followers were good people, and we had no right to control her like that. My father-in-law was silent.
That’s when we gave up. We told her to keep her Instagram, but accept she is losing access to our kids. She tried more excuses (including “some of my followers think they’re my kids,” which my wife is especially furious about), but we stood our ground and went home.
My father-in-law called me and my wife later that night. He told us he was disappointed in his wife and was taking our side. We’re not sure how to deal with him. Neither of us want to cut him off, but we’re not certain we can trust him. My wife just told him we needed some space, and he said that was fine.
I’m exhausted, and my wife is doing even worse. But we've spoken about this, and we’re both also relieved. We’ve still got work to do, but nothing we can’t handle. For now, we have two amazing children and a baby on the way, and they will always be our #1 priority.

Hello,
I am 26 Female, 165 cm 83 kg non smoker, never done any drugs , very rarerly drink white wine , once a year or so
I have hypothroidsm ( using 100 mg Levothyroxine) GAD and Major depression ( 60 mg duloxetine) I also sometimes use over the counter antihistamine when my allergic rhinitis acts up.
I had a rapid weight gain when I switched my psych meds 1.5 years ago. I put on around 20 kg within 6 months. I have went back to duloxetine and weight gain has stopped but I do not have the mental strenght at the moment for losing the weight unfortunately.
Initial complaint is excessive mucus presence in stool. Going on over 2 years now. Sometimes blood is also present and over a month ago a medium sized blood clot came out after I pooped.
Check up has not shown any hemorroids or fissures.
I had an appointment today with a doctor and colonoscopy preparations are underway already.
I had an EGC and a chest Xray done today and will give blood and urine samples tomorrow morning with an empty stomach.
I am just curious about the Xray. It looks clean but what do I now?
I have never smoked, never got covid nor any other type of disase that would affect my lungs but my father was a heavy smoker so growing up I had been exposed to second hand smoke. My mother is also a smoker and has COPD.

Hey there, just simply asking why in the Conquest game mode. Even despite having a(n) higher average rated team, in regards to character level & whatnot. That user teams don't get the 1st turn when set to auto mode.
Which is huge because when going against crews with multiple healers such as the Dathomirian Witches. The user team needs to get 1st blood to stand a chance. Especially if one's team has all characters at level 85 & maxed out star rating wise as well. Compared to what I run into where the opposing crews get 1st try, even despite being at character level 55-60 on easy mode I'll add too.
Keep in mind as a free-to-play player here modes like Conquest are kinda key in getting my various characters levels up to 85 OVR. And wondering when they'll ever change it for free-to-play players like me.

2025.01.22 23:50 Fabled09 Trying to understand + heartworm screening and what’s next for our lil guy
My mom’s dog tested + for HW during his routine annual exam last week. He’s about 3, 10lbs chihuahua mix. We already retested and got the results today that he is definitely +. Still coordinating the rest w his vet. We haven’t even had him for a yr yet(next month to be fair lol) and he was neg when we adopted him. He’s been getting HW as well as flea and tick meds this whole time (interceptor and bravecto) not to mention it’s winter. We did have a very mild fall though. I know he’s gonna have to be sedated for the remainder of his treatment, but out of 5 or 6 sets of dogs I’ve had over my lifetime so far we’ve never had a HW + dog so I really have no clue what to expect. How long is a typical treatment? My very unprofessional theory is global warming has started creating super bugs that are less resistant to the meds. Any advice is helpful. I’m really worried about my tiny snuggle buddy 😭. Otherwise he is healthy as far as we know right now.

Thought I’d post here just in case, was driving south on Adelaide coming up to Thompson and saw a dog cross the street in front of us by himself. No one was around so it looks like he might have escaped. We turned around to look for him but he had disappeared. Was mid to big sized, may have been a Rottweiler Just hoping he gets found with all this snow and cold!

Like many of you, I hadn't been familiar with the World of Darkness before Hunter: The Parenting introduced me to the setting.
I absolutely fucking adore this series and have been gobbling down lore to better appreciate the team's hard work and excellent writing. With that said, I'm relatively new to the setting and welcome lore corrections if I make mistakes.
Having recently learned more about WoD's Demons (the unchained/the fallen), there are a surprising number of parallels between Demons and the "the best geezer".
For context, Demons in WoD are angels that have strayed from God's purpose. If I understand correctly, Demons retain some of their angelic power and trappings, but gain something resembling humanity and free will.
Angels are an extension of the god machine's designs but will play a character when manifesting as humans, they'll have a backstory, a personality, and interestingly, a vehicle. A fallen angel is no longer bound by a preordained plan however, having lost their "devine connection" they seem to receive an anchoring effect from becoming their persona.
From what I read, Demons will act like a human, eating, sleeping, fucking, doing drugs, etc. Not for the same reasons, but because a demon is better connected to their character by performing these acts. Personally I feel this makes the character feel more genuine. I'm not yet familiar with demons in WoD but I'll assume they can access a variety of powers via their human avatar.
Now let's get back to D. He's OLD, we don't know how old, definitely old though going off of the hints we've received. He has a wide variety of esoteric knowledge, is incredibly powerful, and is an admirable man while seemingly not quite human.
WE DON'T KNOW HIS REAL NAME.
Big D. It's an iconic title. The D stands for something and it probably isn't Big Duck. I'm not trying to imply that Big D stands for Demon, I just find it interesting that he never reveals his name, thus not giving anyone power over him. There's also the slight obsession with names.
"How dare you invoke my worst name in front of fucking D D?" ~ The Great and Mighty Kevin.Vehicle. Obviously the Golden Goose. I don't know enough to elaborate on this, but I've got a good feeling about it.
Another ability demons retain from their former existence as angels is a sort of pocket dimension. Where is this shown in H:TP? Kevin's dungeon. Where the fuck was the dungeon? It can't be in the basement, there was a vampire fight happening there. It can't be far though and I feel like Kitten would know if his relatively normal Norfolk house had a secret dungeon.
Aren't Demons evil though? I don't know, are they? In terms of game mechanics evilness appears to be something to avoid. There's also a lot to be said for the influence of millenia of negative PR from the major religions. It doesn't seem like Demons necessarily have to be evil but they could very likely have a different moral compass to most. I feel this is reflected by the character of Big D.
Lastly, D says he doesn't like cats, to which Kevin replies "...you ARE a Demon!"
Humiliation aside, Kevin actually is very powerful and I believe he is more knowledgeable than he lets on. Kevin may be young, but his interrogation showed he had a vast, if shallow, understanding of the supernatural world. It doesn't seem unreasonable that Kevin may know about Demons. Big D also gets evasive in the face of this accusation and doesn't outright deny it, although it should be noted that Big D frequently and masterfully changes subject with a lot of people by using his overpowering charisma.
Please feel free to share your thoughts about this because I'd like to learn more.

I can't find very many resources specifically on recovering from "psychological abuse". Or maybe more accurately - psychological torture.
There are a lot on "emotional abuse" and gaslighting, etc.
But we're working with just like pure psychological abuse - where the person was abused by teachers who gave them tests in seemingly good faith - but then when the exams were graded they most likely were intentionally given failing grades by the teachers and never allowed to look at their tests. And this destroyed the trust in themselves.
It's like a chicken and the egg sort of problem where they need to trust that the teachers were abusing them - but the long term repetition of preparing for tests, feeling confident they had learned the material, and then inexplicably failing the tests - has destroyed their trust in themselves.
You can't just decide to trust yourself if you have zero trust within yourself.
