okay guys so basically, on sunday evening i saw this guy on insta and we had mutuals and he was cute so i decided to follow him. he requested me back and i replied to his story and we started chatting and sending voice messages back and forth and then eventually called on the phone. including the voice messages and call, we talked for nearly 6 hours.
the conversation was so good and sweet. we talked a lot about everything and had a lot in common and the conversation was very enjoyable. so then on monday we texted and everything was chill and we called for about an hour and a half. we made plans to hang out this upcoming saturday. then he told me he had to go help his dad move something and would call me back in ten minutes.
i fell asleep, he had never called back. i didn’t think much of it. the next day around noon i went to call him about a question to clarify the plans when we were hanging out. he didn’t answer. this is the text i got later that evening and what i replied. i have gotten no reply since.
“him: hey i am so so so so so super sorry i dont know exactly how to explain this but my dad is struggling with his mental health and particularly right now there's a lot going on and the last couple days we have kinda been clashing and ive been distracted im sorry i didn't text you sooner”
me: hi omg ur totally fine no worries at all and no need to apologize, i'm really sorry! that sounds really overwhelming :( i hope things clear between u guys and ur both feeling better soon!!!
i’m not sure what to think. for some background, i was dating someone for about four months and he passed in the beginning of november. i’m only 19 and my therapist is really encouraging me to get back out there because she doesn’t want this to hold me back from finding romance again, i eventually do want to get married and start a family. this is the first person i’ve felt attracted to and had such a sweet connecting conversation with romantically since my boyfriend died. i don’t really know this guy at all so i don’t know if it’s in his nature to ghost and lie or if this is legit. idk if i should even plan on saturday anymore or if i just need to let it go. any and all advice is appreciated. thank you!

For the longest time I used to see life as black or white right?

Then I realized humans aren’t like that you got good people with bad qualities and bad people with good qualities so it got me thinking…
How could I keep doing all the bad shit I love without feeling guilty.
Then it hit me…
Front loading!
What’s front loading? It’s this.
Front loading is kind of like taxes, the government doesn’t ask you… it TAKES THEM FIRST. Then it gives you what’s left over.
So I started doing what with my life choices.
If I wanted to eat fast food I took my healthy foods first and by the time I was done eating a salad or fruit or something I barely wanted the trash.
If I want to play video games I’ll make myself listen to audiobooks while I do it and when I want to stop listening that’s when I stop playing.
If I want to scroll, I have to write something first that way I’m limiting my consumption to whatever I’m willing to contribute.
If you want to eat trash— make yourself go to the gym first.
If you want to scroll— make yourself read first.
If you want to complain— write what you’re grateful for first.
All the shitty things you want to do are allowed, just pay for them with virtue first and this leads to guilt free enjoyment and even better… progress.

2025.01.23 03:57 SCRULLEX Bought a Used Car 'As Is' with Transmission Issues – Seeking Advice
Hello, Redditers. A couple of months ago, I purchased a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium (PHEV) with 250,000 km on it for $8,500 CAD. I bought it "as is" and unfortunately, it has transmission fluid leak issue. I took it to the Mr transmission and they said that the wheel bearings are worn out and to change them they have to probably rebuild the transmission. Ford dealer said the same thing. I drive the car around 150Kms per day for my work. The car is still running for now, but I’m worried about how long that will last.
I’ll be honest: I didn’t do my due diligence before buying it. I didn’t have a mechanic inspect it beforehand because I was in a tough spot and needed a car urgently. The salesperson seemed trustworthy, and I took their word for it. I realize they misrepresented the car’s condition and played me.
Now I’m stuck with a car I need but that could break down any day. I don’t know if I should try to repair the transmission (min-3 to 4k CAD), sell the car, or keep using it until it gives out.
I know this situation is partly on me, but I’d really appreciate any advice on what to do next. Should I try to find a reliable mechanic and get an estimate for the repairs? Or would I be better off cutting my losses and looking for another car?
Thanks in advance for your help. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar spot or has experience with older PHEVs.

Preface: I consider denomination to be secondary towards the commandments of Jesus, and honestly scripture as well. I agree with the theological perspective of Sola Scriptura, but I do not consider scripture to be the only source of infallibility. The Holy Spirit is Infallible and actively working in the world, speaking everyday, and giving new revelations by the second. SS seems to have been taken slightly further than what I believe it’s actual application is within the faith.
If I had to pick, I would say I land somewhere between the asyrian church of the east/eastern othodox and the type of protestantism thats closest to the Roman Catholic Church. However, I couldnt confidently place myself into a specific denomination.. based off of my grievances with either side and the revelation I currently have been given.)
I have a problem with Papacy. The pope is supposedly to be infallible in his morality and faith. That said, i’m sure many of you have seen the pope speaking at some venue (cant remember) and he verbatim says “all religions are a path to God”. I cannot look past this as anything less than heresy. There is no justification that is remotely plausible for you to convince me that was infallibility in the Holy Spirit speaking through the pope. That is a direct violation of one of the fundamental catholic principles.
Secondly, the way catholics I have interacted with IRL and online pretty much always speak like the Catholic church is where they receive their salvation. They speak on catholicism more than they do Jesus. They almost always insist that catholicism is the only true church of Christ and anything outside of the church is not in union with the will of God. The sheer emphasis and consistent focus on The catholic church is something that bothers me. Every catholic ive seen spread the word has an insistence on their recipient that the only way to God is catholicism.. i mean even the pope contradicts that. I wish you guys would focus more on Jesus and less on the roman catholic establishment as an entity.
Then, the keenness of works being the path to salvation. I hope ive just had bad experiences with this one but.. In my personal conversations, I have been insisted against that you have to live a life of fulfillment of the law to achieve salvation. No Justification > Sanctification, just straight sanctification alone. This actually enrages me due to the lack of acknowledgement of the finished work from Jesus Christ on the Cross on Calvery. They have always used, relentlessly, “faith without works is dead”.
This is misuse of scripture. what about the countless mentions of salvation through grace? or about works never being enough to achieve salvation? I cannot shake this image of the Catholic Church being a larger piece of identity, than Jesus Christ himself.
Someone, please dismantle my stances. I want to be wrong, but my interactions have lead me to believe otherwise. If you simply try to explain away everything, dont bother. And if you are going to use extra biblical sources, please, keep it to sources prior to the second century.
I love you all regardless, and I know my salvation is real, regardless of being told im not actually saved. I am on the road of sanctification, im not close to being a saint. but my infinite love for our Lord will sustain me through to the end and his work in my will also be finished by him.
As long as Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior, and you believe in the Triune God, to me.. everything else are secondary issues.

Cairo is a 2 year old mixed breed (standard poodle and GSP according to embark). He is trained for service work and has never had issues with potty training. He came from a trainer and I’ve had him for a little under a year. When we first got him within a few weeks we woke up to urine on our bed in the middle of the night. I assumed he had an accident and brushed it off (we took him to the vet and everything was normal). It happened again a month or two later, this time his whole side was drenched with urine so it must have happened while he was lying down. Over the past 10 months it’s happened a handful of times all at night while no one is there to witness it. Last night we were laying on the couch and he was asleep when we heard water spilling. Looked over to see him laying on his side wide eyed staring into space peeing everywhere (including on himself). He didn’t respond when we jumped up and started yelling his name. He moved his eyes to look around but seemed frozen. Today we were at my parents and he was happily walking towards me when all of a sudden he froze, got bug eyed, and started urinating all over the floor. Again, I yelled his name, tried to get him to stop, and still nothing. He was aware I think because he was moving his eyes towards me but he couldn’t move his body. When he stopped urinating he unfroze and walked away. I’m a vet tech and he has come into work for bloodwork in the past but tomorrow I plan to do X-rays, bloodwork, urinalysis, and an ultrasound. I’ve never seen another dog do this. It’s like urinary incontinence but he freezes up and is aware when he’s urinating. Anyone have any similar cases? Also side note… I’ve pulled him from service work until we figure it out. I’m not going to work a sick or uncomfortable dog.

Seems like only one of my nebras has this occuring, almost all others crank out dozens of witnesses upon sending a beacon. Typical lmr400 15' and 6dbi McGill, PoE powered in weatherproof box, mounted up high outside.

My ex bf of 3 years and I broke up back in the beginning of October, it was pretty messy and it was long overdue. We were living together for about two years and dating for three, I moved away from my family and friends to be with him and didn't have much support aside from him and his family. He ended up being an alcoholic and neglectful and not very nice to me. I began talking to this new guy shortly after our breakup, we'll call him Kyle. I've never had a connection like this before. Pretty early in to Kyle and I seeing each other, my ex showed up at my house early in the morning and got into a drunk fight with Kyle and I. Kyle made it pretty clear he didn't want to be involved in our breakup, and wanted me to get everything under control. I spent the next few months trying to get my ex off my lease, or find a new apartment, refurnish the house, and get him completely cut off despite my exes efforts to stay in my life. Throughout this time, I would make up white lies to Kyle to make sure there was a boundary between him and my past. For example, I would tell him to park in the street "in case I need to back out" or cause "someone is going to come shovel for me". In reality, I didn't want my ex driving by, seeing Kyle's car and entering the house. I wouldn't tell Kyle if my ex went to my house to grab things (which I would always leave the house for), or if I got nasty drunk texts from him. There was another time my ex was drunk and came in to my house, screaming at me and breaking things. I didn't tell Kyle about that until a week later. It was very scary, I was afraid of my ex but also afraid of opening up to Kyle about all of this when we were only talking for a couple of months.
I was secretive about it all and made these white lies up to keep Kyle as disconnected as possible until I got my life back on track. Now, I have finally got my ex off my lease. He can't come into my house anymore or try and take my dog or threaten me. However, Kyle picked up on the white lies I was telling him. He knew I was being vague, he told me my secretiveness was bothering him, and while I trying to stop and fix everything, I was still so scared and anxious. Now, he says he doesn't think he can trust me and doesn't think he can be with me. I'm so heartbroken. I've been honest about my entire life and I want him to see me for who I am in a safe, comfortable environment. Am I in the wrong or can I win him back?
