2025.01.23 05:13 TwistedFalls Is this the void?
First time being sick in a while. Last time it was when I really should have been hospitalized.
Sleeping a lot is nice, not feeling guilty for sleeping is even nicer. I made some headway on a sweater for my kid, which is more than I did yesterday. I think I'd like to stay home tomorrow and really make sure I'm back 100% before I try to handle work again. I'm going to have some clean up to do, but nothing near as bad as what I had been doing before.
My newest hobby is coming along, I don't know why making lace sounds like fun, but it's small, I can do it at work, and I'll probably end up making some cute things.
I think I'm starting to find peace with everything. I'm getting to the point I can move forward, leaving you in the past. It's sad that you can only see the value in someone after they leave. I don't know if you just needed to feel like someone would still be there no matter what. I was that, for a while, but then I realized it was only hurting me. Why stick around for someone who, at the drop of a hat, will discard you the first time they see fit? Or worse, when they need an ego boost? It's just not worth it.

Should I include my outside job on my STD 678 form and resume, or just inform the hiring manager if I get the promotion?
For context: I’ve been a self-employed hair stylist for over 9 years, working about 20 hours a week outside my state job. Both jobs are aware of each other, and I never mix my state time with my salon work (which requires me to physically be at the salon). Both jobs are very opposite of each other and I primarily keep my salon job to supplement income, keep me physically active and have a hobby to do.
I’ve been a state Office Assistant in Corrections (7 months) and an SSA at the Dept. of Cannabis for over a year, often handling AGPA-level duties. I’ve applied to 7 positions, interviewed for 4, but haven’t received offers.
I prepare thoroughly with the STAR method, printed materials, and thoughtful questions, and I’ve attended state trainings. I’m eager to learn and grow, but I’m beginning to wonder if my outside work is seen as a conflict or a reason to pass me over.
Could hiring managers, those with two jobs, or anyone with relevant experience share their insights? Should I downplay my outside work, remove it from my resume/STD 678 application or am I overthinking this?
