I’m currently a 23 yo male and I need someone to please help me out. I’m very confident I got mega ripped off when purchasing a used car.
Back in 2022 I purchased a used car (at the worst time to ever buy a used car btw) from a dealership. I walked into said dealership to test drive a vehicle and the next thing I know - I’m being haggled into buying the car knowing it was not in my best financial interest. They had told me I’d pay $27k and have a monthly payment of $530. I ended up giving them a $6k down payment and I’m certain it did not go towards the principal AT ALL.
After a while of making payments and seeing no progress, I wanted to lower my interest rate so I refinanced the car without thinking much about it. That’s where I think I got screwed over even more because it’s the same case despite the fact that my interest rate was cut in half. I’m aware there are fees but I’m nearly 3 years in on paying for this car and I STILL OWE OVER 22 THOUSAND DOLLARS WHATTT?!?! I have put roughly $23,000 into the car and still it seems like it’ll never be over for me.
Now the car has significantly more miles and minor exterior damage so the value has plummeted. I feel like some shady things have been going on, but I’m not sure what to do. I’m in a rough situation and feel like I’m stuck in life because of this stupid car.
If anyone could help in anyway, I’d be very grateful. Thank you!

I'm a man and I was raped my women. I am curious for those of you in the know, is mentioning this sexist and misogynistic? I just want to make sure I'm being progressive with my language when I discuss being raped. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable when I disclose who raped me. Even though being raped was pretty traumatic for me, I understand how triggering it could be for some people to learn who raped me so if I need to get that sort of triggering language out of the explanation of my rape, I will, no problem.
