I am translating this post through ChatGPT because English is not my first language. Three years ago, I noticed blood in my stool for the first time. I went to the doctor, who told me to get a colonoscopy. At that time, I didn’t have health insurance, I was scared, so I never went. Over the next two years, I noticed blood one more time but thought it was due to straining. I generally go to the bathroom every day and have never had constipation issues, but many times I feel the urge to go to the bathroom right after eating.
In November, one day I went to the bathroom five times. The fifth time, on the third wipe, I noticed blood. There was more than usual—about the size of a coin, bright red. I wiped a few more times and decided to see how things would go the next day. The next day, I went to the bathroom, and there was only a small streak of blood on the toilet paper, but when I looked at my stool, there was some blood on top—very little, but it was still there.
I went to the ER because I didn’t have insurance, and in my country, if you don’t have insurance, you can only go to public hospitals. Additionally, appointments are far out—sometimes two months away or more. At the ER, they did blood tests, which showed I had a hematocrit of 36 and some elevated white blood cells. They also did an abdominal X-ray and didn’t find anything except gas. They performed a rectal exam and found a small injury, so they sent me home.
The problem is that in my anxious state, I forgot to tell them about a pain I’ve been experiencing. It’s located on the left side of my abdomen, between my navel and ribs. This pain first appeared months before I went to the ER. It was very sharp and intense, but it stopped the same day. It has since returned, but not as intense, and I still feel it occasionally.
At the ER, I was seen by two medical interns who consulted their attending doctor but never came back to explain anything to me. However, there was a general physician on-site who strongly urged me to get a colonoscopy because, despite my age (I’m 27) and lack of family history of colon cancer, you never know.
I live in Greece, and you have to book appointments with doctors at least a month in advance. For example, I booked an appointment in November for January 20, but on January 16, they canceled it. I now have an appointment on January 31, but I don’t know what to expect. I plan to see a public doctor to write me referrals for tests so I can figure out what’s going on.
However, because I feel something isn’t right, I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you in advance.

Im starting out boxing, wanting to get my own pair of gloves. I’m wondering which of these two pairs of gloves would be better for me. Not sure there’s a huge difference, but just wanna make sure just get the best option! I’m an average sized female (5’4 135lbs) with pretty small hands. Not sparring much, mostly just bag and pad work.
Or other gloves in a similar price range if anyone thinks there’s better options, I’ve just heard lots of good about Rival.

I believe job hunts get more difficult with age, because your salary is pretty high and fewer companies have the funds to hire you. Also, there would be fewer openings at management level. The pyramid gets narrower at the top.

Hi everyone,
I work full-time in a client-facing, service-oriented job (won’t specify the industry for privacy). I’ve been with the company for a while now and my contract includes a 6-day workweek (but I clock only about 20-30+ hours per week) and minimum MOM leave. I have 9 days of leave for my third year of employment, but because I work on all public holidays, my total leave this year is only 20 days.
Recently, I booked a 3-week vacation without first getting approval for my leave. I know I fked up on this and this is entirely on me. However I did tell her a few months back that I will be taking leave in April and she said ok. She just didn’t know how long I will be gone for and was taken aback when I told her it was 3 weeks and that I’ve booked the ticket already.
So when I told her about it, she said it was "my problem" and now, she’s telling me that either I cancel the trip or I’ll only have 3 days of leave left to cover the entire year. She also mentioned the company doesn’t allow unpaid leave, which I know isn’t true (they actually do offer it).
So what’s really bothering me is the fact that other colleagues have taken 3+ week trips without issue. Over the past two years, I’ve been working almost every day, including public holidays, and I only get one off day a week. So, it feels really unfair that I’m being treated differently, especially when I've given so much time and effort to the company.
I also want to add that my hourly rate is slightly lower than the market average, but the main advantage of staying with this company is that they provide me with a constant flow of clients, so I’ve had a relatively stable income.
Now I’m in a dilemma. I’m debating whether I should try to convert to part-time to get some balance or leave the company altogether. I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on what you’d do in my shoes.
