I was born in a third world country that' recently started gettingrecognized for it's oil production. In 1984 my father was a criminal traveling around our little carribean country and its neighbors. As he'll tell you he saw my mother, followed her home and convinced her father to let them get married with 2 weeks. Having family in the US and abroad was a big flex and a sign of wealth. Which is what my father used to get to my mother and her family who were poor. My grandfather okayed the marriage.
I was born a year and half after they got married. For the 1st year of my life we lived with her sister. After my father's father went and visited us, he gave my father the home that no one lived. My father's parents and sibling had left the country about 15 years earlier. They lived in England, and Canada before migranting to the United States. I grew up hearing stories of the type of person my father was from my mother. He lived with us but was always out doing something, or in and out of prison. I seen him come home many nights drunk, fighting her whatever little money she had. I seen throw all her clothes out of our home when he got mad at her. He didn't didn't like what she cooked he tossed it all on floor. He barely worked and relied on his parents and siblings here in the states to send us money every month. Like I after they had me his family started taking care of him more. I saw him cheat on her, I hear the stories of him doing it on front of her, when I asked why she stayed she told me cause of me. She told me step fathers are bad and she didn't want me to raised by one. So I decided I wanted to be like my mom.
September 1995 we left that country and came to United States. My mother got a job with United airlines and stuck with it. She be came the main bread winner and still she stayed. At 16 I started acting out, not realizing what was happening to me. I became suicidal, I dropped out of school and ran away from home. I met a 25 year old man and by 19 had my first child. I was so afraid of my dad that I when I found out I was pregnant I left him. That night I found out my ex had a crack addiction. I stayed for 9 years and had 4 kids with him. Why did I stay? Cause I wanted to be like my mom, she stayed for me so I stayed for my kids.
My ex was physically abusive, he'd lock the kids and I inside our apartment while he worked. He couldn't keep a roof our heads. He'd steal to feed his addiction, he'd get clean work for a month or so and relapse. When he got home from work he'd stick his fingers inside of me to check if I had sex while he was at work. He'd check the closets, kitchen cabinets to see if I had someone hidden. I never cheated on him. I thought him being like that with meant he loved me. He didn't want me to work, but he didn't want to work either. In the 9 years that we were together we stayed in motels, slept on the floor at his family's house, or at my parents house, we had our place 6 times and each time we got evicted. I used to chase after him like a puppy crying and begging him to change. I never allowed myself to do anything type of drugs with him, he was my addiction. I almost lost my kids chasing after him. I left him in December 2012. That was my awakening.
January 2011 I was living with my 4 kids at my parents home. We had separated, hme was living at his sister's house. My parents home only has 1 bathroom. Late one night my father walked on me soaking in the bathtub. My mother had came in prior to him and used it. On the way out she didn't lock the door behind her and he came in. I was naked in the bathtub and covered up myself as soon I realized he was in there. The next day a tuesday morning he takes my mother to work and I my oldest son to soon. I came home and got in bed with my 3 sleeping babies. My youngest was 15 months old. My father comes in my room and gets in my bed, tries to put his hands down my pants. I grabbed it as soon I realized what he was doing, I told him to get out he tries to kiss my neck, I told him I'll my mom he laughed and told me he's not worried about her. Finally he came to his senses and left. I stayed in my room that entire day, even when she came home from work. The next day I told her, my mother told me it's normal for fathers and daughters to have sex. I was in shocked, I needed to get out. I wasn't work but my ex was, I went to his job and told what happened. He told go get the kids and we got a motel that we stayed in for a month before we got an apartment.
A few weeks later I get hospitalized for pneumonia, my exes nephew and his girlfriend are babysitting my kids while I'm in the hospital. My father goes and calls cps and have my children removed from my home. When I get out and speak to the case worker and told her what happened with my father and him getting inro my. She goes and ask my mother, who tells her I'm a liar and she don't believe it happened. My heart truly broke that day. I started slowly waking up that day and realizing my reality.
I started counseling and it helped me. I realize I was depressed. I can't remember what age it started but before I came to the U.S I was being molested by my male cousin. When I turned 18 I told my mom. She didn't say anything. I realized that my mother used my father to get out of our country. He father realized my father's family was rich and it was her chance to get the US. Yes my father's family sponsored all 3 of us and brought us her. My mother started talking bad about me to my children telling things she shouldn't. Like who my first was. There's a story about a woman who's husband had just gotten out of jail and he was molesting his daughter. About same woman leaving her baby with some male family members and coming home finding her baby in a pool of blood. She's never told me these things growing up and now I'm left wondering if I'm that baby. I've asked and she tells me it was me. Yet as a child I remember being touched on by multiple family member. Everytime my kids are around her she's always got something bad to say about me to them.
She complains about my father I tell her she was wrong for marrying him for money she says he raped her and that's why she married him. It's been 13 years since that day and I still feel my father's breathe on my neck, or being touched by a male. I feel so lost

Hello friends. Being from Chicago my mouth always misses the food, especially the carne asada tacos. Places like La Pasadita, De Mucho Gusto Taqueria (RIP), even Taco Burrito King have a similar 'flavor'. However, it's been impossible to find anything that taste like home away from Chicago.
I'm hoping maybe someone here works/worked in any Taquerias that can give me recipe / step by step guide to make some at home to get that same flavotaste i desperately miss.
I've tried many different recipes online, but none of them bring me back home.

I need a pet in the worst way and would love to welcome my home to a kitty or two. However, I have a ton of plants that are quite sentimental to me as they are my mothers. Is there a specific bread of cats that is better than others? Can I train a cat not to eat them? Is there something I can do to protect the plants from the cats but also worried about the kitties health as I have read most house plants are poisonous to cats. Advice welcomed thank you all ❤️
