Hi everyone. I'm currently looking for sound solution for my budget HT.
I'm planning to spend max 500eur so of course I'm looking at used market. I would like to make 5.1 system.
Currently looking at:
Denon avr-x1400h - 200eur - 7.2 / 80W@4ohm / HDMI 2.0b / NO Dolby-Vision & HDR10 / Dolby Atmos
Pioneer VSX-531D + Yamaha NS-F51 - 300eur - 5.1 / ??? / Dolby Atmos (couldn't find specs on crutchfield so I'm not really sure what am I looking at...)
Yamaha RX-V385 + Yamaha NS-F51 - 400eur - 5.1 / 70W@6ohm / HDMI 2.0b / Dolby-Vision & HDR10 / NO Dolby Atmos
What's Your advice? How much should I spend for a receiver at this budget? What specs/features are important when choosing AV? What should I look for when choosing speakers (except impedance and power)? I'm complete beginner in audiophile world so any pointer is welcome.

I am interested in self-studying for either the AP Chem or AP Bio exam this May; I have a pretty good understanding in both of these subjects. My school does offer these APs, but it is their policy that I can only take the exam if they don't offer the course. I am keen on taking it this year (junior) because I want to fit other classes next year. Is there any way I can work around this to take the exam?

I have been dealing with awful uti like symptoms for 3 months that has turned my world upside down. Started with treating Ureaplasma Parvum, then I was fine and moved on with my life. A month later symptoms of vaginal burning came back. Doctor said it was yeast but burning persisted after treatment. Within 2 weeks the burning moved to my bladder. Since then I feel burning pain when urine hits my bladder. I can’t hold more than 5oz of urine at a time (and that’s holding it). I haven’t been able to sleep as I pee every 30 mins. Nothing helps the pain. I haven’t been able to work. I have taken 7 rounds of various antibiotics and done all the tests. Cystoscopy shows inflammation in the bladder neck, and ct showed a 6.5mm phlebolith right by my bladder neck area.
My urologist is stumped. He’s reaching out to colleagues to get ideas because he agrees that it doesn’t make sense that one day I’m completely normal and then the next I’m like this. I’m set to have a biopsy done next week and he’s also looking to see if the lab will investigate a tissue sample for infection that may be missed.
Could a phlebolith near the bladder neck cause all this?

I'm looking for an office monitor. I was going to pick the Dell U2723QE, but then started looking at gaming monitors as well. My office is brightly lit with sunlight and there is a window behind me, so I wanted an extra bright monitor and glare protection, both of which the LG has and the Dell does not. As I looked into the specs, the LG seems better in all respects and is less expensive. Am I missing something? Is there a reason not to use a gaming monitor for office (I will watch videos and live TV)? Any other monitor recommendations?

I'm empathetic, I care a lot about my self-respect, and I'm anti-social. I usually prioritize openness and honesty over politeness. I've spent a lot of time thinking about human nature to try to figure out why people are the way they are. This has caused me to become increasingly more self-aware and incompatible with most people over time. The flaws they can't see in themselves have become increasingly more noticeable and annoying to me. I specifically think most people are too socialized, arrogant, and tend to think with their emotions rather than with logic. I would like to find people that share this understanding and feel the same way about it. Consistently, my favorite people have thought they're boring. "Boring" personalities come across as more genuine to me. Also, I'm an INTJ and have noticed that I get along best with INFJs and other INTJs.

Hi,
I wanted to gather teachers thoughts (maybe mainly lower grade teachers like kindergarten and first but I’m open to any) on something I’ve been thinking about. When I was a child, I attended a two morning a week, 3 hour mothers morning out program starting at age 4 before starting kindergarten at age 5, and my mom has shared it was very casual, play based and there were often weeks I didn’t even attend because we just stayed home to play. I’ve talked to friends my age (30s) who did zero schooling before they started kindergarten. My husbands grandmother was a kindergarten teacher and said back when she was a teacher, her students had never been to school - just had free open ended play and then started school in K.
Fast forward, now I have 3 young preschool aged children of my own, and the town I live in (I’m sure it’s similar across America), there’s lots of pressure/its very competitive to get into the preschool at the private schools and to get the lottery for public schools preschools. Both the private and public 4 year old preschools that are both so competitive to get into are M-F 7:30-3pm hours. And then the younger age preschool classes - I’ve noticed even from my older child to my younger, they have changed the 3 year old class to 4 days a week versus when my oldest was in the same preschool it was only 3 days a week 3s class.
I just feel that there’s more pressure to start more schooling from a younger age these days - definitely from when I was a child in the 90s but I’m even noticing a change from the era my young children are in versus my sister in laws kids who are now in high school - back in 2013 when her kids were preschool age, there wasn’t all this pressure to start them 4 days at 3 years old, then 5 full days at 4 year old before kindergarten like there is now. And it isn’t sitting right with me. I know that I am potentially in the minority here, but I feel like there’s too much pressure being placed on our young children to start too much schooling too quickly. The things my friends kids are learning in their 4 year old preschool full day class at the private school in my town is what I was learning in first grade as a child. Seems like more play, more time outside, and more time to be “bored” at home which leads to creativity - would be more beneficial then all this pressure I’m noticing to spend long days in classrooms before K.
Can anyone help shed some light on why education has shifted in this way? From a teacher standpoint, is it really beneficial to our children to be learning more at a younger age (for example my 4 year old probably learning what I was in first grade)? To me, it seems that it wouldn’t make a big difference in the long run - both could get into the same college for example no matter if they knew it at age 4 versus first grade.
Anyways, I’m just feeling discouraged but I’m not sure if I’m being overly nostalgic, and maybe there is actual benefit that I’m not seeing from a teacher standpoint?
