 | Hey all ! Recently bought our first home which has this coal/ wood stove. We had it cleaned/inspected and were told it’s safe to use but is extremely inefficient and should be replaced in next year or two. It’s missing its baffle and all interior bricks. The walls are also extremely warped. I get free mahogany scrap wood ( sorry to all the woodworkers) to burn through my job as pictured and would love to take advantage of it. Looking to buy a new more efficient Wood stove and could use some suggestions and general info/ things to consider. Our home is a single floor ranch around 1700 sq ft. Live in the north east. Would not be primary source of heat, though I really love it and have had a fire in it almost every night since October when we moved in. The guy who inspected our stove suggested a jotul f55. Any thoughts on this model or other suggestions for a quality stove that would fit my situation? Thoughts on catalytic/non catalytic stoves? What can I expect to spend ? My wife has a conference in New Orleans next week from Tuesday - Friday and I'm tagging along. What's something good for a 28m to do while she's working? The hotel says it's a 17 minute walk to bourbon street. I love food and thought I've heard this is definitely the area to try real creole, wouldn't mind checking out any good bars, I like getting out and sightseeing, pretty much open to any fun ideas. Also what would be a few nice couples things to do later in the evenings?

With all the focus right now on pulling Hidden Inventory Gojo and talking about which featured banners you wished you could have gotten the character for, it made me wonder which characters people wish they could pull from just the standard gatcha banner? Brought to you by the fact that I have not pulled a single SR Nanami despite playing this game since November. I have SSR Nanami, and I love him, but I see a lot of guides for players that involve having SR Nanami on the team, and I have not pulled him once. I want him!!! I have every other SR character, and dupes on all the SR characters, except for Nanami. At this rate, I can’t help wondering if I will ever pull him lol. I even went looking at the gatcha details to see if the chances of getting him were lower than the other SRs lolol. SR Nanami, when will you come home to me??

I just finished all of Andy Weir’s novels, Project Hail Mary was my favorite.
I’ve read all of Murderbot Diaries, phenomenal series imo.
I’ve read The Ender’s Game series, Speaker for the Dead is my favorite.
I have read the first two of Children of Time series. The first one was great.
I also really enjoyed the short story I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.

Before you lossless elitists come here to beat me up: I totally agree with you, spotify sucks and it should be erased from earth's history, but its catalog is just... unbeatable in a noob-friendly way. I am well aware of soulseek, torrents and all that stuff but imagine trying to explain how to use lidarr to your mom who just switched from spotify to the navidrome server you set up last week, kind of a pain isn't it? that is the main purpose of this: to be a simple web page accessible from any web browser where your family members can search for an album (or a track) and add painlessly add it to the library, no shenanigans, no rss feeds, no trackers, no piracy-nerd BS.

Junior in CS here. I haven't really been able to build relationships with any of my professors here since I've only been in the very large CS classes and I haven't found a need to ask professors any questions often. I want to apply for an REU at another school for over the summer. However, I need a letter of recommendation from a professoinstructor to be able to do this. Is there any advice for this? Do I just cold email past professors in classes I've done well in?
I was also thinking I could potentially schedule an OH meeting with one of my previous professors whose research I was interested in as well. Ask them about it, then follow up asking about a letter of rec. Is this a better plan? I just don't feel like it changes all that much. And I'm trying to move as fast as I can...
Also, do you think a program might accept a LoR from an advisor? I feel like my advisor knows me better than any of my professors.
For people who've done them before, what does the timeline for getting a LoR look like?

- 220k mortgage 30yr @ 2.675 with 26 years left. House is valued at 330-360k. 1700 month mortgage payment with tax and insurance but currently renting out for 2200/mo. Any gains go to a savings account that is not included in savings calculations, its for emergency repairs. House is 4 years old.
- Housing at my current location is a wash. I am given a stipend which is equal to my rent.

This isn't a flex or bragging. I am anxiety ridden and was raised by people with poor financial planning who died destitue in their early 50s. In summary, IDK if I want to work or work as much. These are my financials. What would you do to solidify your FI?

as a person who often forgets to put on lip balm and is often put off by flavors of certain ones, scent/taste is super important to me
i absolutely love the scent and surprisingly, the flavor (the salted caramel has a slight sweetness in the actual lip balm)! as much as i love it, i can't justify the price time every time (though a repurchase will soon be on the horizon). have you guys tried any similar scented/tasting ones?

Doesn’t matter if I get them from Ralph’s or Home Depot.
The moment I get basil it does this within a DAY. Sometimes LESS. I’ve only had one basil last 1-2 months but it barely grew. Just maintained.
What I do: (1) Gets 4-6 hours direct light but can only put it on the east side. Gets 10-12 hours of grow light indoors. (2) Watered when I got it but not overwatered.

Hey all -
I have been chasing some pipe noises for a while now. Previously it was a very high pitched whine and after some troubleshooting I found the water pressure was about 120psi. My Zurn Model 600XL PRV is about 20 years old so I got the rebuild kit for it. After rebuilding it I have it set to 60psi and I verified it stays very stable at that pressure, I left the gauge on for a couple days. So at this point I am confident the noises aren't due to water pressure.
Now the noise is more of a buzzing that can be physically felt in the pipes. It seems to be centered around the water meter but I can't tell if that's just the upstream issue being felt at the meter or if the meter is causing it.
The sound can be from relatively quiet to extremely loud, depending on what combination of faucets are running.
I am about to call a plumber but before I do I wanted to see if it might be worth calling the water company to see if they will replace the meter?
Any help is appreciated.
