I'm only 15 and I'm in high school. I've had simple crushes before in elementary school. But since 7th grade, no one sticked out to me. Until 10th grade, I know it sounds corny but I met the most gorgeous girl in the world. When I saw her, time slowed down, all the voices muffled together. It was like a movie. I was confused and dazed. This random girl and her long, blond hair had me in a trance. Every inch of her was perfect. Over the next few months, she would start 3 conversations with me, one about weird laws, another about my socks, and the final one about racism and gay people. (she's so perfect she was joking about being racist). Finals come and I didn't get the courage to ask her out.
Luckily for me, next semester (in a week) we share English class in period 1. I need advice on how to ask for her number or anything. Back up plans if she has a boyfriend. I can't help but feel like I may be letting my future wife go by not seizing the opportunity. I can't talk to women for the life of me. Please help me, tell me what to do. I need this, I need her.

Hi, I’m currently a Saint Petersburg college student looking to transfer to USF in the summer. I sent my transcripts a couple of weeks ago and my “admissions officer” has not returned any of my phone calls. The admissions office has been flakey with me throughout this entire process. it’s making me second guess the school entirely. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s making me want to go to UCF.

Hey all,
So I'm American, living in America, but I remotely manage a team that is based in India. The great majority of them are women. I have taken note of some unique challenges they face. They seem very concerned with not making waves. I also sense they hesitate to raise concerns or complaints they have, like they think I might be upset. I also feel like they are just not as sure of themselves as other folks I have managed.
I don't know how much of this stems from culture or just comes down to them as individuals, but it made me wonder. Is there something your manager could do to better understand the corporate challenges women might face? Or I guess, is there something your manager could do to make your corporate life easier, and empower you?

Me and my BF are currently long distance and with our busy schedules and time difference sometimes our communication goes down the hill.
Last week, he replied to my Snapchat about something random and ignored my text messages. I usually reach out first if we don’t talk for over a day and I’m understanding of his situation with work and school. I decided to wait it out this time to let him reach out and we ended up not talking for 3 days. I reached out to see what was going on and why he wasn’t talking to me and he proceeded to say he replied to my Snapchat. Of course this caused me to get mad since replying to a snap is not necessary a form of good communication in my eyes and was mad about the fact that he didn’t acknowledge that he didn’t reach out at all besides that. We had a short argument, it really wasn’t that heated either nor serious. He didn’t seem to understand why I was upset and proceeded to say that he was just tired and we’ll talk about this later. I told him I’d rather talk it out now, solve whatever the issue is and move on so it doesn’t get dragged on for longer - and told him if he’s not ready to do that than to just message me later when he is ready. He didn’t agree with this and just continued on asking me how I’m doing. I wasn’t happy with this kind of communication and I don’t like sleeping on unresolved issues. He didn’t want to discuss what happened and told me that this clearly is not working out and to do whatever I need to do - I responded that I agreed.
It has been almost a week and he has not reached out at all, he’s VERY active on Snapchat which is his only social media account that he goes on. I waited it out to see if he’d message me first for once and I don’t know if it will happen and I’m not sure what to do in this situation.
Do you wait it out and not give in? Or would you be the bigger person and sent a message asking what’s going on? It feels bad giving in but I also don’t feel good being in this weird silent phase.
TLDR: LDR bf and I had slight argument after he didn’t reach out at all for 3 days but was very active online. Voiced my concerns and he did not want to talk about it and hasn’t talked to me in almost a week.

The main character is a baker who works in a city at a bakery. One day strange beams of light start appearing from the sky and shining down onto the city. Whatever the beams of light touch - people, buildings, trees - just instantly disappear and vanish without a trace. No one knows what happens to them or where they go. The story opens with a regular customer who always orders the same thing every day, but only by note. The baker has never met them. The baker is out of some ingredients due to the light beams, so the baker creates some backup meal with a note that says "we are out of X, our apologies. on the house". Even though the city is disappearing piece by piece, the baker has nowhere to go so they remain at the bakery and continue to run it, serving food, working to create a space of normalcy.
Eventually the customer visits the bakery and meets the baker. They decide to flee together and travel down to the docks to watch the city and the beams of light. They see a storm? coming toward them and figure a beam of light will hit them soon. The story closes with the customer repeating over and over "I think it's all a dream. When the beam of light hits you, you just wake up. I think you just wake up. I think you just wake up". Fin.
I read this short story recently on the author's website, but unfortunately I lost the link. I believe the author was a woman.
