This was about three years ago, while I was finishing up my degree. I used to work early mornings in the Greenwich Village neighborhood when I wasn't in class, and back then I was a lot more of a bleeding heart than I am now (I was still fairly new to the city). I had a number of nutty interactions with homeless and begging folk, but there's one story i still tell on occasion that sticks out.
One early morning, I'd stopped at Starbucks before work to get some coffee and breakfast, and was walking my way to work when a fella approached me while I was stopped at a red traffic light. He explained to me that his young daughter was waiting for him a few blocks away under some warm scaffolding (it was winter), and he was trying to find some help to get her some breakfast. I offered him the banana bread I'd gotten from Starbucks, but he rejected this, saying it would be "too hard for his daughter to chew". He then proceeded to ask if i would go with him to a McDonalds a few blocks away to buy food. I had to get to work, and didn't have time to go on an excursion, so I told him I couldn't do that. The man immediately changed his demeanor, became angry, and said, "Oh, it's because I'm Black, right??", and i was like, "Dude, I'm leaving now", and crossed the street and made my way to work.
In retrospect, I doubt there was a "daughter". Cuz, like, wtf could she have eaten at McDonald's that would have been easier to eat than my banana bread? Lmao

Hello,
Bought a car recently, and on my way home I found something weird. Sometimes when braking (and only when braking) the car will turn by itself right or left (quite strongly, got 6 pistons brake at the front).
It does not happen all the time, there's no problem when driving or stopping slowly without braking, the car go straight as expected so for me it's not geometry.
I thought about bubbles in the brake fluid. The garage told me it's not possible that brake fluid problem cause this. They are supposed to have changed brake fluid before I took the car and I suspect they made a mistake in the process. What do you think ?

2025.01.24 05:10 jdilly701 How do I shave with a Panasonic Arc 5?
I just received my Panasonic Arc 5, and, after trying it for the first time on my head and face, I’m stumped. It just wouldn’t shave. Both my head and face were stubble prior to shaving, with my face having essentially a 5 o’clock shadow. Based on videos I watched trying to figure out how to use it correctly, both my head and face were plenty short enough, but it just wouldn’t shave. After about 45 minutes of constant passes, I eventually had to switch to my old razor to finish.
I’ve seen a lot of advice, including a card included with the shaver, saying to just keep at it. Does practice and better technique really make that big of a difference? I’m honestly feeling discouraged, but will be more than happy to keep going if practice really would help as much as I’m hoping it will.
For more info, I’m pretty new to shavers like this and I was wet shaving.

2025.01.24 05:10 Technical-Voice-9114 Can you accidentally sing sub harmonics?
I’ve mostly ever thought of singing as just doing it. Here lately trying to actually get better and learn more and actually doing warmups.
I have a fairly natural deep voice, I like singing misty mountains and such lol.
Recently learned about sub harmonics and so far it feels like something I’ve always done to go as low as the song I’m singing along with. Is this something you can do accidentally? Now that I’m learning more my chest voice is going lower and I’m not switching over to that sound as early, I’m now hitting e2 in a decent chest voice. Still need more power, I’m not the best at breath control. One night with a lot of warmups and exercises and being very relaxed I hit a g#1 “subharmonic” which surprised the fuck out of me. I haven’t been able to do it since.
My goal is to hit c2 in chest and g1 in sub harmonics. I really need to increase power though.
I guess this just turned into a rant rather than an actual question. I have so many lol

I've just been diagnosed with PCOS. My main issues are: High testosterone as per blood tests, weight gain, hair loss on the top of my head, sleeplessness, insane PMDD level mood swings and painful periods.
My periods come every month so this is not an issue for me and I don't crave sweet things and I don't snack.
I've been going to the gym 4 days a week for 6 months and have only gained weight. I eat well, dairy free and 3 meals a day. So getting so frustrated that I havnt lost a single kg. But instead gained 7kgs in 6 months. 25 kg in the last year. FOR NO Apparent REASON
I have no interest in having kids so don't care about fertility issues. I just want to lose the weight. Oh and the hair loss sucks!it's like I have male pattern balding but I'm a women! Wtf. I feel so defeated
I now walk 7-10k steps every single day but have only been doing this for about 3 months. Before that my steps were pretty low - i have a 9-5 desk job.
Help me please 🙏 natural remedies and supplements preferred. I have 1 week before my next GP appointment where I am supposed to tell him my preferred treatment plan for the PCOS. I asked for some time to decide.
