Hooked sleeve dress pattern

See that bitch (girl) over there? I hooked up with her last week. Let's go look at some bitches (girls) in the strip club. And if a woman hears any of this, she will be offended. A slut is a woman who sleeps around a lot, for free. It's used in a derogative sense. All the time. Hola, Estoy colgado (a) (de) (con) la serie de 7 Vidas. Estoy enganchado a la serie de 7 Vidas. ¿Qué preposición se utiliza en este caso? En inglés sería como: I'm hooked on the show: 7 Vidas. Greg Not really. "Through" suggests that she is doing what the woman in the photo is doing: inserting her arm in the small space between the man's arm and the man's body, and then moving her arm forward through that opening, so that when the maneuver is complete, they will be arm-in-arm. "Hooked on" is still in use as an expression meaning addicted to, but usually for something more general than a single title. Hooked on reading, or even hooked on Kate DiCamillo or Tolstoy, but hooked on War and Peace sounds odd. Well, actually the meaning in Italian can be wider than just "sour grapes". The original meaning of the expression "chi disprezza, compra" is that someone who protests against the asserted defects of a certain thing, is trying to obtain a better purchase price for that certain thing. When you have a big fish hooked and you fear about the resistance of your line, in order to tire it, you pull (till its head is out of the water => drown) and let go, over and over. The fish will be confused and stop debate. You have drown the fish ! Pour l'explication en français voir : noyer le poisson - signification et origine de l'expression To "get hooked" can mean to be caught with a hook like a fish. It can also mean to become addicted or obsessed so this is a play on the two meanings of the term. It means that, figuratively speaking, she throws a line i.e. she shows an interest in you as a result of which you become obsessed with her. I'm editing an English study textbook at the moment. There's an exercise that takes the form of an advert for swimming lessons, and it's headed "Beginning Class" (as in the lowest level). I immediately changed it to "Beginner's Class", but a moment of doubt about American English (I'm British)... We are hooked on video games, movies and stuff hi guys i was listening a kelly clarkson's song called "addicted" and there appears this expression: "i'm hooked on you", does somebody know what it means??

Hooked sleeve dress pattern Hello!!
I’m new to sewing garments and wanted to make a hooked connected sleeve (?) dress. @WorstedWestern posted on TikTok how she made the dress but I was wondering how I would make it specifically for my measurements. How do I measure where to place the hole and how big to make it?

2025.01.24 05:50 DecentTumbleweed5161 Should I tell my ex why women don’t want to date him?

Recently I dated a guy for a year or so. He was a really good boyfriend, but we broke up because we wanted different things. We are still on good terms and I can’t say enough good things about him.
Since then, he’s struggled to find another woman who wants to date him. I think I know the reason why. He dresses like shit. He’s a great guy and has his shit together, but for some reason he dresses like a 19 year old raver kid in his 40s. He’s good looking and has so much to offer, so I am fairly certain that his age inappropriate wardrobe is the main problem.
So should I tell him? I feel like he could keep some of his “flare” while dressing in a more mature way and he’d do a lot better in the dating scene. Or should I just let him be himself, so he can find a woman who accepts him as is?

2025.01.24 05:50 mcafc Song of the Week - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

This week's song of the week is Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me. The song was originally conceived during the Zooropa sessions, but was finished and released on June 6th, 1995 to be on the soundtrack of the film Batman Forever released 3 days later. The song made it's debut, however, in April, when Bono had a DJ at the Pod nightclub in Dublin play it live. This story is recounted in U2, Faraway So close,

"He cracks in another cassette. “This is the first track where U2 ...” He pauses, grins, “where U2 sound like men." Suddenly ‘Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me' explodes with vulgar ferocity, a below-the-belt dirty sound ... nah, a fucking filthy sound, raunch a go go."
There was also a music-video released featuring an animated version of the band. U2songs describes as follows:
"The video itself depicts two super-powered animated characters battling throughout a city. We also see U2 performing on an animated Zoo TV stage on a rooftop in Gotham City (complete with an animated “Riddler” running around). Batman and Robin also make appearances, but most of the animated footage is of “The Fly” and “Macphisto,” two onstage personas Bono had created for The ZOO TV Tour. In the video, “The Fly” starts out as a very angelic-looking Bono, complete with halo. He eventually turns in his halo for a pair of “Fly” sunglasses, which give him superpowers. We see him surprised by paparazzi at one point without his glasses, and he stumbles off the edge of a building. He is saved when an animated Adam Clayton tosses him his “Fly” shades, thus returning his super powers. “The Fly” also demonstrates some very Spiderman-like moves, including crawling down the front of a neon sign. In a separate story line, Bono is shown walking down the street with U2 reading C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters, when he appears to be hit by a car driven by Elvis. We then see his body strapped to a hospital bed, where he dies. Suddenly, lightning strikes and Bono is transformed into “Macphisto.” His powers aren’t clear in the video, but he does have a rather cool winged car that he uses to chase the Bat Plane through the skies of Gotham. The animated Edge and Adam also have some fun shooting lasers out of their guitars at the Bat Plane as it flies overhead."
Sonically, the song is very much of-a-piece with the ZooTV era, with heavy distortion and effects accompanying a driving, punchy rythtm. The outro, in particular, is interesting as their is a cacophony of sound including heavy moaning from Bono.
Lyrically, Bono has said of the song, along with the above comment, that it is, "about being in a rock'n'roll band I suppose, being a star, whatever that is. It goes, let me see. what’s the opening line: ‘You don't know where you took it, you just know what you got' ... I'm just working on clues.” (Faraway So Close) and, reflecting several years later in Surrender,
"It was in the mid-1990s that I wrote “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” about how, if you don’t die on a cross at thirty-three, people start asking for their money back. It’s not completely untrue." (Surrender)
The song, to me, sounds like a mixture of self-critique and the apparently self-defeating nature of fame. The "star" wants fame, but chasing fame is empty and leads to, ultimately, feeling that the very people that gave them their celebrity will bring them down. They not only are suspicious of this, but they like it, they are fetishizing it. It's like a messiah thing where the star gets to say "look at all these empty reasons you love me, now you will KILL me!".
However, as Bono says above, there's a "hint of truth" to it all, the cycle of capitalism, fame, virtues, saintliness/religion, and "the fall". In the band's case, Bono coped with the extremely divisive criticism he received in the 80s (especially the Messiah complex stuff) by creating these alter-ego characters (the Fly, Macphisto, etc.) to help express his sort of inner-monologue. The tone, like much of U2's 90s work, is tinged with a paradoxical sort of wisdom (Bono has realized all the things he's saying after all, but is also living out some of the lines in the song, "you don't know how you got here...") and sardonic irony. I think this is sort of expressed in the song's writer-subject-narrator structure. Bono (the writer), the "advisor" let's call him, and the "star". The "dregs of fame" are expressed as at once glamorous and disorienting and dark. This sort of combination, tying together and contrasting modern society, pop-culture, the search for God, and sex would come to a head for U2 on Pop, for eg. in Mofo:
"Holy dunc spacejunk comin' in for the splash White dopes on punk staring into the flash Lookin' for baby Jesus under the trash"
...
"You don't know how you took it You just know what you got Oh lawdy, you been stealing from the thieves And you got caught In the headlights of a stretch car, You're a star."
An expression of confusion and disorientation, the person feels they are in a sort of artistic underbelly. They don't understand what is valuable about what they do, they just do it. They think it's a kind of thievery, but they are stealing from thieves--a comment on the cycle of appropriation inherent to art. The lights shine on them, they are a spectacle, they are a star.
"Dressing like your sister Living like a tart If they don't know what you're doin' Babe it must be art, You're a headache, in a suitcase You're a star."
"Dressing Like Your Sister" might refer to the tight jeans, leather, and lace style which was common among rockstars, and appropriated by Bono--a sense of transgression for transgression's sake. “If they don’t know what you’re doin’, babe it must be art” is a comment on both the pretentiousness, but also confusingly appropriate, of describing the habits of the star as "art".
"Oh, no, don't be shy You don't have to go blind, Hold me Thrill me Kiss me Kill me."
The chorus...it describes an oscillation between allure and danger, highlighting the paradoxical nature of fame. They want to be held (for comfort) thrilled (for excitement) kissed (for pleasure/sex) and killed (???). The lyrics encourage the star, and I think this is authentic, to not be shy, and not worry too much about "going blind", but this is still covered in a level of darkness, like they are plunging into an abyss. Part of the mystique of stardom is the darkness that it plays with. The singer tells them to embrace the paradox, telling them the summary of their fears/desires.
"You don't know how you got here You just know you want out Believing in yourself almost as much as you doubt, You're a big smash You wear it like a rash Star."
Now it's like some time passes. The star is disillusioned, and the singer returns to advise them again. . The metaphor of a "rash" conveys how fame is both visible and uncomfortable. The phrase “you want out” foreshadows the common trajectory of stars becoming disillusioned with their fame. Again, the singer knows all--he is playfully picking fun at the star.
Oh no, don't be shy You need a crowd to cry, Hold me Thrill me Kiss me Kill me.
The chorus arrives again, but with a slight addendum, "You need a crowd to cry". The star's disillusionment might be just be another vehicle for art--they need the crowd (which they are disillusioned with) to feel disillusioned, to cry.
They want you to be Jesus They'll got down on one knee But they'll want their money back If you're alive at thirty-three, And you're turning tricks With your crucifix. You're a star, oh child
Here the song goes up another level, now they're getting older--perhaps turning to spirituality and religion (as U2 did/does). The praise turns into a sort of sore-spender. Youth leaves the person, the promise of fame begins to wear and it takes an extreme effort to remain a star, hence, "you're turning tricks, with your crucifix"--again, the "oh child" line makes it feel like a wiser person counselling the young star.
"Of course you're not shy You don't have to deny love, Hold me Thrill me Kiss me Kill me."
Again, the star is beckoned not to deny themselves. Not sure if there's supposed to be a comma before love (love as a name for the star) or they are being instructed not to deny love itself. Either way, they're not shy now--perhaps indicating that the star has successfully embraced the paradox of their existence—thriving on adoration and excess while being consumed and confused by it.

2025.01.24 05:50 adam759 Are there any more affordable options for lower tier internet?

We just recently discontinued our TV service as we didn't use hardly any of it. My father recently passed away and thus we no longer needed the sports package or anything like that. It is now just my mother and I. We are sticking with internet as we need connectivity to pay bills and do very minimal streaming.
When I cancelled the TV service and returned the DVRs at the local Xfinity store I inquired about an even lower tier internet service as we honestly barely use it. Instead I was informed that the lowest tier they could offer was I believe called "Fast" at 500mbps, while our previous plan was only 150mbps with minimal usage. I am disappointed we couldn't keep the previous internet plan and was upsold to a higher tier. The base price for the new plan is $99, then 2 year contract discount of $29 and autopay discount of $10 for a total of $60 a month.
Is there anything cheaper than this? I now realize we were sold a promo but after reconsidering even $60 is quite a bit for us. Our income has decreased majorly and we need to save more. I realize I just did a contract, but it may come to a point we would need to pay the cancellation fee as $60 will become too much for us.
