Recently, I've gotten into Vampire Survivors, and I was in awe. It's a genuinely simple game but (some balance issues aside) it plays so damn enjoyably well. And it made me think: damn, it took until 2022 for someone to make a game like this? It's not like there were hardware limitations or trends that held the concept of this game back. It was just never made.
And it made me reflect on the phrase "There are no original ideas anymore". It's a common phrase we hear often, especially in game development. The good connotation is that it's often used to comfort us in finding inspiration in other games. But on the flipside, the bad connotation is that it's a convenient excuse to justify copying other games as the only way forward.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't draw inspiration from other games. I'm saying that the phrase "there are no original ideas anymore" is just probably false after all. I mean, it certainly was kind of ridiculous to begin with that even with the infinite creativity of the human mind, a phrase suggesting we've hit the limit on ideas was propagated as much as it was, in schools and in communities and the like.
Even in my internship experiences, I've had employers tell me to simply copy games from the top Apple App Store charts and tweak one or two things, citing that phrase. It's certainly harder to come up with a complete new game concept that no one has ever thought of, but it's harmful to teach new game developers to forget innovating. And I'm sure the phrase had nuance back when it was coined, but it doesn't mean that nuance is conveyed through every time that phrase is said. I think we should be a lot more mindful around the use of this phrase, wouldn't you agree?

I'm 35, right at 6', 205lbs, have been having low T symptoms for a while, chalked it up to having kids and a stressful go. Went to my primary care and asked for as many tests as he could give me, he came back and told me my vitamin D was low. It was, but not that fn low. Requested to check testosterone, and he went crazy. Talking about insurance fraud and risking his license and whining about his student loans. I replaced him. Next doctor was more sympathetic and apologetic with my experience prior, ordered a total testosterone test which was just reported back to me at 407ng/dL from the lab. My doc has not yet seen the result. I'm aware total testosterone is not what is available for my body to use.. but is it low enough to push for a free testosterone test? It feels like I have to be careful what I do and do not say when it comes to testosterone testing with these family physician types, how should I proceed with my doc? I am open to receiving TRT especially if it's insurance funded due to the amount of professional observation I would be under. Thanks in advance

Hi! Yeah so abhi exam deke aa rhi hu (24 jan shift 1) i didn't fuck up the exam , it was easy tho lekin wahi baat hai ki bhot acche se padha nhi tha maine upar se revise nhi kiya tha - syllabus complete nhi hua h
So so! Ab focus is neet (yeah I was a pcmb student experience lene ke liye exam nhi diya maine already dropper hu enough experience hai)
Dekho Mera syllabus is fucked up lekin 12th maine acche se padhi thi except magnetism and optics.
So I want to complete my syllabus till 9 feb (Bhai mat bolna impossible hai , ik it is possible kar lungi Mai yaar)
What I learned today:
•Question practice acche se nhi kiya
•Concept acche se samjhna chahiye tha
•Ncert ki padh ke jaana chahiye
•Nothing is priority list kahi se bhi puch lete hai ye (neet me to waise bhi there's no priority list)
But but! Ab beet Gaya exam I'll focus on the above points from now on
Lekin anyone here jo help karde planning me like kaise kya karna chahiye and all (don't suggest one shots bhai🥲) (I can do 5 lectures a day - mere paas batch hai)
•Dekho ioc mera badhiya hai
•oc maine nhi padha hai (uske lectures ongoing hai mere) (oc mera late me bhi hoga to chalega)

I really want to have a comeback now! Bhai I want to do it for myself and my family. It's really important for me
