2025.01.24 20:30 Leopoldo_Caneeny Hang in there folks -- 2025 is getting busy! I got an offer!
I was laid off completely without notice the Friday before Thanksgiving and couldn't get anyone to even say hello to me before the holidays. Have probably sent off over 200 applications in less than 2 months. Had a handful of screeners -- mostly from off-shore body shops but those didn't go anywhere.
But then all of a sudden a couple of weeks ago, started getting interview requests... including 2 roles where the recruiters found ME instead of me applying to them. Mixture of (American) contract houses and direct hire... all but a couple fully remote.
So today I got an offer!!! I'm soooooo thrilled. I also have another direct hire final round interview scheduled for next week (would be a lot less money but it would be FTE soooo.... ).
I'm not going to stop looking or interviewing until I actually start -- and even them, I'll probably keep seeing what pops up because I sure as heck don't want to be caught flat-footed again! at 61, I'm too old for this shit!
For reference, I'm a QA Lead with strong automation and performance testing background... and QA has not exactly been strong because they have moved soooooo many jobs off-shore. So all you real software developers and IT folks, hang in there, change is a-comin'. You'll find your way soon, too!!!

I was hoping get my CPA done. I have lived in US for 20 years now. Originally from India , I am trying to get my uni send the copies of my masters in accounting to the NASBA. Why is it so difficult? They dont reply to my msgs or emails. I have paid them what was needed using their online form.
I paid NASBA the enrollment fee which is now wasted cause the uni didn't send the info on time. So frustrating. Did anyone have luck or faced similar issue?

Like, I'm not sure exactly when I'll be missing time or how much because I can't predict when an episode will happen. I put it for intermitten LOA, but they seem to want a specific number of hours or minutes and I'm not exactly sure how ask my Dr to answer it. Hi! I gave a seminar presentation for a postdoc position at Argonne National Laboratory exactly one week ago. I had a preliminary screening interview and the PI looked quite entusiasthic in that situation. The second interview lasted 5 hours, including 1-1 meetings with other postdocs and seniojunior researchers. Everything happened online since I live in Europe. I cannot state how I performed during the seminar. I'd say the presentetion was smooth up to the last slide which was not perfect (I forgot to put a legend in a picture I was questioned later, terrible mistake I know). I'd say the job description matched quite well with the topic of my PhD. Technical questions after the presentation were not too tough but were mostly asked by the PI running the hiring process. Point is, I didn't get a good vibe from the PI in the last wrap up call. He just asked me again when I'm going to defend my phd dissertation, recalled the possible project running in the lab, and told the next week he would start to assess mine and other candidates evaluations. He also suggested to start thinking who could provide 3 reference letters. Now it's a week since my seminar interview and didn't receive any news. Should I start being worried? What's your experience in terms of followup time?
