2025.01.24 20:39 logicalconflict What does a typical bathroom stall at a European gas station or grocery store look like compared to the American version I see people complain about every day on reddit?
I've seen a million and one posts from Europeans on the subject of cheap American bathroom stalls - the gaps in the door, the cheap locks, the space at the bottom and I have yet to ever see a single example of a typical European bathroom stall as a comparison. What are we missing out on? Do you not have stalls? How are they better? And don't give me a nice stall from a museum or opera house either - I want an apples-to-apples comparison from a typical gas station or grocery store.

Howdy all, I decided to take the plunge and try join for the year. I had a monthly account associated with Google, I decided to use a different email to sign up for the 12mo subscription with coupon... both accounts are connected to the same Strava and Wahoo accounts. My monthly account was showing an eFTP of 293, after signing up for the 12mo subscription with a different email, it's showing 273 eFTP... I completed a ramp test on Trainerroad in early December that was closer to the 293 number, and then recently had a bump to 295 from TRs auto ftp algorithm. Is it safe to go ahead and train off that 293 number regardless of what the app is telling me? Or should I retest next week before starting a new block? I have a race tomorrow so next week will be a recovery week either way.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently planning a Portuguese Catholic wedding here in London and could really use some advice. My husband is British-Portuguese, born and raised here in London, and I’m Singaporean-Indian. I just moved here last year, so I’m still getting to know what’s available locally!
We’re hoping to have a beautiful Catholic ceremony in our parish church, followed by a reception at a Portuguese restaurant. We’re looking to host around 100-150 guests, but I’ve hit a bit of a wall—many restaurants I’ve contacted either haven’t gotten back to me, or they can’t accommodate a party of that size.
We’d like to keep costs reasonable since we’re also planning a larger Indian-Hindu ceremony back home in Singapore, which will include more elaborate pre-wedding events. This London celebration is simpler in comparison, but it’s equally meaningful to us, and we want to make it special.
If you know of any Portuguese restaurants or other venues in London that could work for this, I’d be so grateful for your suggestions!

 | See pics, the inside plastic liner of my kitchen sink has been peeling and cracking in multiple spots. I don't have any leaks yet since I assume its really just a liner, but I'd rather the issue not get any worse. I'm this close to just flex taping it, but flex tape never works as good as it's supposed to. Any thoughts/quick fixes? Sergeant Whitaker’s boots squelched as he advanced, rifle tight against his shoulder. The air shimmered, thick with a haze that wasn’t quite fog. “No way a whole station just—disappears.”
Dr. Anaya scanned the perimeter with her visor, fingers twitching over the controls of her containment unit. “No,” she murmured. “This wasn’t disappearance. This was consumption.”
Behind them, Private Delvecchio dry-heaved. “This ain’t normal. This ain’t—”
“Quiet.” Whitaker’s voice was steel.
They had been sent to investigate Outpost Theta’s sudden radio silence. No alarms. No distress signals. Just an eerie, absolute quiet from a station meant to monitor bio-warfare contaminants. A simple recon. Tag, bag, and extract if necessary.
But this wasn’t a battlefield. It was something else.
“Jesus,” Anaya whispered. “It’s still moving.”
The ground pulsed, a slow, undulating throb, like the breathing of some unseen beast. A network of fungal tendrils, pale and glistening, spread outward from the remnants of the outpost, threading through collapsed structures and skeletal trees. It wasn’t just alive—it was aware.
Then, a voice.
“You’re too late.”
Weapons snapped toward the sound.
A figure stood in the mist, his body half-draped in what had once been a military uniform. The name patch—Henshaw. Colonel Henshaw, Outpost Theta’s commanding officer.
Or what was left of him.
His skin had taken on a strange, fibrous quality, a lattice of organic strands that pulsed beneath a translucent outer layer. His pupils had dissolved, replaced by milky orbs that still held a terrible intelligence. And he was smiling.
“You think fire will save you,” Henshaw rasped. “Chemicals. Quarantines. The old ways. The human ways.”
Whitaker didn’t lower his rifle. “Colonel, you’re coming with us.”
“No,” Henshaw said. “I’m already where you’re going.”
And then the ground shifted.
Delvecchio screamed. His left foot had sunk into the pulsing mass beneath them, tendrils already spiraling up his calf. He tore at it, but it clung, tightening like muscle. His skin bubbled, his veins darkened. His pupils dilated so wide his irises disappeared.
Then he stopped struggling.
He turned his head, too slow, too deliberate, and grinned. “It doesn’t kill,” he said in a voice that wasn’t his. “It only learns.”
Anaya moved first, slamming her containment pack into emergency purge mode, blasting the area with a concentrated burst of sterilization mist. The tendrils recoiled, hissing like something angry.
Whitaker didn’t wait—he fired.
Henshaw’s head snapped back, a crater where his forehead had been. But he didn’t fall. He staggered, yes, but the wound was already knitting itself, filaments weaving together, reconstructing.
“You still think you’re separate,” he chuckled, voice wet and wrong. “That you have control.”
Anaya grabbed Whitaker’s arm. “Run.”
They bolted, tearing through the forest, but the ground itself betrayed them. The fungal mass extended in all directions, a living web, sensing, anticipating. Every step felt heavier, the air thick with spores.
Behind them, Delvecchio’s voice—no, not his voice anymore—sang out. “There’s no escape.”
Anaya skidded to a halt near a decayed watchtower. “There’s always a way.” She yanked open the emergency relay, fingers flying over the manual distress beacon. The old system, hardwired, analog. It might still work.
Whitaker covered her, torching the ground with his flamethrower, the flames illuminating something vast beneath the fungal surface—titanic shapes, humanoid, forming, unfinished.
Growing.
A voice, everywhere and nowhere: You are not losing.
You are becoming.
The beacon screeched to life. A signal. A warning. But Anaya knew, even as she slammed the final transmission through—

Hi Zusammen, ich spiele aktuell mit dem Gedanken der FF beizutreten. Habe mir auch schon Truppmann 1 Unterlagen angeguckt. Dort ist das Thema umluftabhängiger Atemschutz auch aufgeführt. Bei Feuer und Flamme hingegen sehe ich die Feuerwehr seltenst mit Atemschutz, bspw. bei kleineren/mittelgroßen Feuer draußen oder offene Halle (Bauernhof bspw), oder auch beim Betreten von Häusern mit Verdacht auf Brand/deutliche Rauchentwicklung aber aus Fenster zu erkennen.
Mir ist es sehr wichtig meine eigene Gesundheit zu schützen und ich fand beim Besuch meiner OrtsFF bspw. super wie auf die Kontaminationsverschleppung geachtet wird. Aber ich mach mir etwas Gedanken, der einzige 'dulli' zu sein, der andauernd als einziger mit Maske rumläuft.
Wie ist das bei euch? Ab wann zieht ihr eine Maske auf? Gibt es einfach Kameraden, die mehr auf Maske achten, als andere? Oder ist das eher ein Ding, dass der ZugführeEinsatzleiter darauf hinweist und diese manchmal sehr sensibilisiert sind und manchmal nicht?
