The sound it makes when turned on is fine, but why would you ever need an annoying loud ass sound when it turns off.. I forget to do so and it randomly screams at me when it shuts off on its own in the middle of the night. It has become so annoying!!!

Why can we have a multiple tiered mortgage system? For example if you are a citizen and the mortgage is for your primary residence, you get a really low rate. If it's on a secondary piece of property, investments etc, it goes to a significantly higher interest rate.
If course, yes, you would need to cap rental rates at the same time to restrict secondary mortgages from just increasing rent to cover the difference. Decrease the alluring nature of having multiple homes.

Question - Employee works from home 3 days out of 5 days 2 days in the office
Due to an employer's computer system, the employee's computer was LOCKED and could not be undone. a supervisor clocked out the employee.
Reviewed the employee's handbook and nowhere does it state how such incidents are to be handled.
First - I believe that this was an illegal action taken by said Supervisor Second - would this justify a case with the Department of Labor?

I know this is a little heady and to be clear I’m not talking about the fashion girlies posting OOTDs. Just curious how if others feel similarly:
I think the internet is a wonderful, wonderful thing. If you asked me a few years ago if I thought we were more informed because of it I would say yes. Now I would say no - confused if anything. Our acceptance of political misinformation has trickled down to our acceptance of misinformation about mental and physical health, finances, real estate, parenting etc.
I see it EVERYWHERE. Why are we so comfortable relying on people with no credentials or expertise? A friend diagnosed herself with PCOS from a PCOS influencer and now adheres to PCOS diets provided by people that aren’t dietitians. People are drinking raw milk because Ballerina Farm drinks raw milk. People listen to medical advice from “Dr” Will Cole…who is NOT a real doctor, because he brushes shoulders with Gwyneth Paltrow. Parents are seeking parenting advice from mommy vloggers who are anti-shoes, toothpaste and education. And even lower stakes but people actually buy Eli Rallo’s self-help book about relationships when she’s had like one relationship lol. People are also replacing their tv shows and movies with YouTube vlogs. I’m not a film/tv snob, I love trash tv. But the idea that people are increasingly consuming less thought provoking, artistic, analytical, historical content, etc. is becoming glaringly obvious.
Idk. On one hand, I believe there are a lot of individuals out there who may not have proper

I live in the UK and my aging father lives on his own in a third world country. He has dementia and a lung disorder so he has to use oxygen supply 24/7.
Last year I started managing a team of three male caregivers who work in shifts.
There are several visible security cameras installed in the house and they know they’re being monitored.
Since I live abroad you can imagine the power imbalance as they know I need them to keep my father alive yet I don’t have much influence over them since I’m not physically there.
I video call my father every day and visit home a few times a year and work remotely from there but I can’t do more than that.
This is a poor country and these are certified nurses but they make so many medical mistakes and have poor judgment that I sometimes wonder how they got their degrees.
We’ve been through bad caregivers in the past but this team has been okay for the past 6 months or so. However, there’s recently been a few cases of neglect:
- They didn’t tell me about a skin condition that my father developed and started gaslighting me when I questioned them and said it’s because of the cold weather. Turned out it was shingles.
- My father had a haemorrhage in his eye but they started gaslighting me and saying it’s just ‘allergy’ and they ‘just noticed it’. When I urged them to take him to see a doctor they resisted the idea and started smirking and asked me to calm down.
- I went to the capital to meet with an expert in lung diseases to get a second opinion but the main caregiver started dismissing his opinion and said that the new drugs he prescribed are unlikely to work, etc It's likely because it's additional work for him since he has to give them to my dad in a nebulizer 3 times a day.
- The worst part is today when one of the caregivers came to the house in the morning clearly sick but didn’t tell me. I saw how sick he was while reviewing the cameras footage in the morning. He was coughing and sneezing without wearing a mask so I asked him to go home. He started gaslighting me and saying that it’s ‘allergies’ because of the cold weather and that he 'just started having symptoms'. Anyway, he went home and the housemaid stayed there with my father until the night shift of the next caregiver.
They get paid really well but this doesn’t seem to make any difference. It’s life or death and they’re gambling with my father’s health.
If I fire them and get a new team of caregivers there’s no guarantee that they’ll be any better. The issue is that there’s no one there to monitor them.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
