Hi everyone,
I recently had a CT scan yesterday (January 23rd, 2025) after completing my third cycle of BEP chemotherapy on January 7th. I'm comparing the results to my CT scan from August 2024 and October 2024, both before chemo. I'm not entirely sure how to interpret these findings, so I'm hoping someone here can provide some guidance or share similar experiences.
CT Scan (January 2025) Highlights
Thorax: * No bulky lymphadenopathy. * Noncalcified nodular consolidation in the left lower lobe (2.37 x 1.74 cm)—could be infectious/inflammatory or nodular atelectasis. Mild consolidation in the right lower lobe as well. * Recommendation for short-term follow-up.
Abdomen: * A left periaortic soft tissue mass now measures 2.81 x 2.56 cm (previously 2.54 x 2.63 cm in August). On the coronal image, it’s 4.4 cm (previously 4.65 cm). * No acute issues with major organs, except for a presumed kidney cyst (7.9 mm) and some mild findings.
Pelvis: * No inguinal lymphadenopathy or other acute abnormalities.
Tumor Markers
On January 7th, my tumor marker results were as follows: * HCG Beta Blood Quantitative: Less than 2.42 mIU/mL * Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP): 3.5 ng/mL
Comparison to Previous Scans
Here’s how it stacks up against earlier scans: * October 2024 (pre-chemo): A larger left para-aortic lymphadenopathy (3.4 x 3.2 cm axially, 5.8 cm coronally) with mild hydronephrosis in the left kidney. * August 2024 (pre-chemo): The left periaortic mass was 2.8 x 2.6 x 5.0 cm.
My Questions
- Should I be concerned that the left periaortic mass hasn’t shrunk significantly after three cycles of BEP? While the coronal measurement shows some reduction, the axial measurement seems fairly stable.
- Could the nodular consolidation in the left lower lobe indicate something serious, or is this likely a chemo-related inflammation?
- Does the mild hydronephrosis from October being absent now suggest some improvement, or is it unrelated to the chemo response?
- Do my tumor marker results align with what I should expect at this stage of treatment?

6 months in, I hate it here. I'm a clerk, the carrier of 20 years retired and now it is a constant drip of street customers coming in to complain about carrier service. The new person doesn't go out of their way to make the customers happy and do unpaid labor. People cannot wrap their heads around it. I try to give them insight and tell them to call the post master. Customers have yelled at my carrier and called them lazy, petty, and asked if the carrier is disabled because they aren't getting service since they need to fix their box. Is this something I can file a grievance for? I'm pretty sure people aren't allowed to inquire about disability. I cannot believe this is what I'm paid to do, let people scold me about how it's unfair they aren't getting their mail. I'm about to quit.
