2025.01.24 23:10 SewLite Moving and don’t want to bring problems-appliances
So my BFF is dealing with a nightmare situation. Someone gave her a used water dispenser that had been sitting in their trunk for a month. She kept it in her kitchen for two weeks before using it, and when the exterminator came, he said that’s where the problem started. Since then, she’s seen tiny babies and small ones in the kitchen, and they spread to the dining room. We think they were hiding in the bar stools, so we tossed those, and nothing’s been seen in that area since. She lives in a warm tropical area.
What she’s done so far: • She put down Advion gel baits about a week and a half ago and found 2-3 dead babies.
• She sprayed Alpine WSG yesterday. • She found one in the toaster, killed it, and tossed the toaster. Now for the bigger issue—the fridge. She sprayed it with Alpine yesterday and baited underneath it a few weeks ago. The thing is, she needs to keep the fridge because her new place (which is brand new and has already been professionally sprayed) doesn’t come with one. She can’t afford a new fridge, and she has kids to feed, but she’s terrified of bringing any problems into the new place.
There’s also her toaster oven/air fryer. After seeing one in the toaster, she’s nervous about keeping it, but the toaster oven/air fryer is a more expensive model, and replacing it isn’t an option right now.
The Questions: 1. The Fridge: Can she safely keep it, and how does she make sure it’s not bringing anything with it? 2. The Toaster Oven: Should she keep it? Are there steps she can take to make sure it’s clean and safe to bring? 3. Appliances in General: What’s the best way to move her appliances to the new place without risking problems?
Her new place was sprayed by professionals, and she’s read that she should wait 30 days before applying Alpine there. My BFF is super clean and has never had issues before this. She’s really overwhelmed, and I’m trying to help her, but it’s been exhausting for both of us.
What would y’all recommend?

I sold my Athens home in 2023 and just got a bill for $2.76 for Athens storm water. It’s been marked a final bill. Is this something g they normally do? Getting a bill well over a year later was a surprise.

I have a work center that enters aircraft fuel cells, and we're establishing on-site laundry. However our environmental compliance department is throwing a fit because the water coming out of the machine contains too much fuel to be discharged.
I don't know if they took a composite/mixed sample from the entire cycle, or a discrete sample from the initial drain... but it still feels wrong to me to keep sending these uniforms home with our folks to be washed in their family's laundry to be discharge into the same sewer.
Have any of you dealt with something like this? What language/resources did you use to convince Environmental Compliance that laundering within the workcenter is a better idea and possibly required? Military workcenter in California if that helps.

I have been issued with a biosecurity order by my local council for Rats Tail Grass on my property.
Iam doing the best I can to reduce and eliminate it but it's a lot of land and is taking time.
The council have given me 30 days to address it or I will be fined 1000 penalty points or face 1 year in gaol.
The council land surrounding my property is massively infested with the Rays Tail Grass and they never spray or slash or remove it.
Can I issue the Council a Biosecurity Order for THEM to fix their land in the same timeframe they expect me to?
Anyone delt with this in Australia please?

2025.01.24 23:10 millenialhead6181983 What is the line between a classic film a modern film?
Hi all, new poster to the sub and on the younger side. I am a huge fan of classic movies and I was curious to hear people's opinions regarding what the line is between a classic and modern film. Is it by the year? Is it before the studio system eroded in the mid 1960s? Or is it more arbitrary?
Personally, I consider the 1970s as the last decade to incorporate the classic movie modicum, and specifically, I think that era draws to a close as soon as the blockbuster box office film emerges, so for me, that would be Jaws (1975). I can quickly point out movies after this year that still have that classic film feel, and even into the 1980s/1990s I can find a few that stand the test of time, but personally there is a clear difference in the way movies are made.
My favorite movies of the 70s tend to be pre 1975 (The Godfather, The Last Picture Show, The Sting, M.A.S.H, Cabaret, Five Easy Pieces, French Connection, etc.). Again, simply curious and not saying any answer is correct.
