I’m trying to find this book and can’t remember much about it. I believe it’s set right either during Napoleon’s reign or right before the French Revolution.
It’s set in England, but I think the FMC or MMC has ties to France.
The FMC has a friend who is a dandy and people only see him as pretty much only interested in fashion. Like he has to have the biggest collars, most garish colors,etc.
Everyone has been talking about the Scarlet Pimpernel who goes to France and smuggles people out. It’s only at the end that the FMC finds out it’s her dandy friend.
It’s honestly been probably 20+ years since I’ve read it. I thought it might be a Catherine Coulter book,but haven’t found it yet.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I’m going to try to keep this short but I’m kind of lost with this one, and don’t know the formalities of bringing up grad school to my employer.
Basically, I work at an environmental technology company as a research technician and I decided to apply for a chemical engineering graduate program and got in. I have a coworker who got into the same university and who’s research through the school aligned with our companies goals, so she was able to 1. Get her grad school tuition paid for my the school and 2. Get a living stipend by our company.
I’m trying to follow that same path, but I feel like I’m meeting my boss (the CTO) at an awkward dead end. Months ago, I told him that I want to follow the same path as my coworker, he told me “your first step is to get into the school and then we’ll talk.” Cool, got into the program. Scheduled another meeting.
During this meeting, he asks me what I want and I reply with how I want to be in a position where I have responsibility over a research project. He basically assigns me with a task to brush up my resume to highlight points in my career where I’ve shown experience related to research. I did that, we had another meeting discussing my resume improvements (it was helpful), but didn’t talk further about grad school.
I feel lost right now to say the least. If my work is going to sponsor me, I need to do research through them, but literally have no clue where to start. Are people who work through a grad program through their employer usually responsible for finding their own research topic?
I start grad school in fall btw
