2025.01.24 23:54 Centinel_was_right SCO FSD in a Phantom: Worth It?
I've been loving my basically unengineered Krait Phantom as an explorer. Haven't taken it far out yet (I'm only out as far as Pipe Stem right now) but the zippiness is delightful compared to my AspX.
The question I'm grappling with right now is, do I continue to use the Phantom, accumulate credits and resources, and ultimately buy and fully engineer a Mandalay or other SCO-native ship class; or is it worth it to slap one of the fancy FSDs into the Phantom and sink the effort into engineering that? I have a Type-8 configured for mining and I've definitely appreciated the option to boost in supercruise in that thing.
I have time to consider the question, since I will most likely hold out until the Mandalay becomes available for credits before I pull either trigger, but as new as I am I really don't feel like I have enough experience to form an opinion on the topic yet.

Forgive me for being very out of touch
I'm not asking about the salute itself because I'm familiar with that. My out-of-the-loop question is... how did we get here? How did this happen?
I remember like 5 years ago Elon was Reddit's golden boy, wholesome chungus 100. His politics were that of an ordinary liberal. He was innovating, sending shit into space, selling EV's. His biggest controversies back in the day were naming his kid AE-X something. And making a truck that looks like an unrendered N64 vehicle. Now he's out here changing Twitter, becoming butt-budies with Trump, and now the recent salute?
Did he suffer some brain trauma? Has he developed a mental illness? Is this a midlife crisis? How did this start? I remember he casually endorsed Ron DeSantis back in like 2020 or 2021 and announced he was Republican, making a whole thing of it. I don't think he even liked Trump back then. Where did this change of heart come from? And how did he go this far?
What's the whole FNAF timeline here?

I'm planning to visit Osaka and Tokyo in early May. Thanks to social media's algorithm, I've been seeing these shoes all over my feed. Out of curiosity, are they overrated at all? I'm not familiar with those shoes except they were what Uma Thurman wore in Kill Bill Vol. 1 (which I guess is the novelty of them).
Overall, if I came across them and I wanted to buy them, would it be worth it and where in Tokyo (or Osaka) what should I look for if I were to get them? I have shoe size 8.5 - 9 US.
I would likely just get a standard pair as is but any additional info on them would be nice!
