If you are familiar with United Way, they have an initiative called ALICE. It stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. They have this initiative in 16 states, which cover tens of millions people. Their problem is that all of them rely on their credit cards to make ends meet. But once they get in, there is no way out. We have created a platform to help lift them out of poverty and yet, nobody at ALICE would want to meet us. We have been working hard with people in this condition (we are a group of immigrants from poverty ourselves) so the proof is astounding. But connecting with these folks is just impossible. Thoughts, advice?

in the first trailer for this game there is a pullcart or truck that the player is crouched in the back of while being chases by a boar. now I am pretty sure this is either not implemented yet or cut content, but honestly i really desperately want a transport system for moving material between bases.

My husband and I purchased our 1940’s home in July and it is everything we could ask for… However, now that it is cold out, I am missing the fireplace I grew up with. Out of all the historic homes on my street, mine is the only one without a single fireplace, some even have two! Budgets aside, realistically how hard is it to build a functioning fireplace (preferably wood-burning) in a 1940’s home on a crawlspace foundation? I know that is virtually nothing to go off of, but has anybody done that? My living room needs a fireplace!!

Memphis, TN. My son will either be in first or 2nd grade when and if I decide to homeschool him.
I'm thinking about homeschooling my son in the next year or so. I'm going to be his teacher. Do I have to take him somewhere multiple times a week to check for proficiency? Or something like that? That's what my boyfriend told me.
From what I've read, it says nothing about taking the child to be tested (except in grades 5, 7, and 9. Which are the state standardized tests), just that it's on the parents to accurately record and document everything, purchase the homeschool curriculum, and a few other responsibilities. And just submit everything to district homeschool coordinators at the end of the year.
