Ok, I was just out on my deck 20 degrees no wind having a Fuente figurado. It was very enjoyable but man it was cold. I managed 45 min. I was thinking that an electric blanket would have made it nicer but it seems like overkill. I didn’t get the relaxation factor that is so important. I think for me I prefer a drive to my local bar (Capellis) in a much nicer atmosphere, but that is a whole production with drive, parking, etc. Spring is coming, right?

Just a mess overall. BF was in low contact with family at the time of his mother's death. The will names his two siblings as co-executors (and they are basically bad people). There is a trust which directs assets to be divided equally, but we had to call the lawyers office to get a copy of that trust. (If you're sent a copy of a will as a beneficiary and it references a trust, shouldn't you also receive a copy of the trust?) There's weird language in the trust that says if he doesn't sign over a piece of his property that his brother wants, they can cut him out completely. Nothing stating that he has to be given the opportunity to sign it over. Again, we only know this because he asked the lawyer for the trust. He has not been provided with an inventory of the estate (and I believe it's been 90 days). It seems like they've decided to shut him out completely based on this random property request without actually making the request.
I'm not sure what solutions exist for us that don't involve protracted legal battles. Since they can use estate money for their defense, it's a lose-lose. If your kids don't get along, appoint an independent executor. Don't let any of them put weird demands into a document. Spend the money and get a good estate attorney.

2025.01.25 00:54 CB_227 AITAH for avoiding my boyfriend's family after his mom's brain cancer diagnosis?
My boyfriend and I have been together for six years. His family has always been welcoming which was weird at first due to my own broken and traumatising family members. I have come out of my shell a bit over the years, and am more comfortable within their family dynamic.
I have been broken and feel let down by this last election. I am scared shitless in regards to my rights, freedoms, the welfare of my fellow American (rightly so). Boyfriend's family are in the cult known as MAGA. It is in direct opposition of who they portray themselves to be. They act inclusive and accepting, but I can't get over all the hate they condone and voted for. I didn't want to be a part of Christmas this past year due to this eye opening turn of events, and my boyfriend told me I would have to be the one to let his mom know I would not be present. I spoke my mind in a text to her about how I wouldn't feel comfortable being around them because of their choice in letting a racist, bigoted, joke of a leader. This resulted in her completely breaking down and spilling her heart out to my boyfriend. He got pissed, and we almost ended. I backed down and attended the family Christmas.
This week, his mother found out she has brain cancer and it is inoperable. I feel sympathy for her, but I don't want to be around his family. My focus is my boyfriend's mental state during all of this. I feel like I need to be true to myself. After all, I believe I need to stand up against all MAGA, regardless of who they are, and what relationship I have with them. What do I do? AITAH?

2025.01.25 00:54 whoisthismahn I work with someone who is undocumented, but we’ve never discussed it before. Is it out of line for me to tell her I’m here for her and to be careful?
I work with the kindest, most hardworking woman who has a young son, and I have every reason to believe she’s undocumented (family is all from Mexico, her english isn’t very fluent, and she gets paid in cash). She’s very chatty and friendly, and we talk a lot at work, but nothing beyond surface level stuff.
But I’m so scared for her son. Our city already had officials show up to an elementary school today. I want to bring all of this up the next time I see her, just to tell her I’m here if she needs anything and to please be careful. But I’m worried because I’m not sure if this is a touchy subject for her or if it would make her uncomfortable. She’s an incredible mother and works so hard to give her son a good life. She once admitted to me that she sleeps on the floor of her apartment every single night while her son sleeps on the only mattress that will fit in their apartment.
Initially I thought about texting her since I have her number, but with the language barrier I don’t want anything getting lost in translation and I don’t want to leave any potentially harmful information on her phone. So is it ok if I talk about this with her in person? I’m basically as white as white gets and have never discussed immigration with anyone before, I don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable but I want her to know she has support if she needs it, whether that’s giving her a ride to work or picking up her son, idk I just feel stupid doing nothing
