I got the email this afternoon after getting rejected from Stanford. Ever since I started the process last July I would literally scroll this subreddit and daydream about getting in! After my interview last week I sent them a thank you note and they said "let's talk more then" so I was feeling optimistic but it still feels surreal! 2025.01.25 01:05 MakingLunchMoney High LP(A) results despite negative genetic factors for it
I have a bit of a interesting thing going on. My Lipoprotein (A) came in at 179.0 nmol which is twice the low end of the high range. It is pretty bad.
I broke down my genetic report from 23&me and discovered I do not have positive LP(A) genes. At least the two that are the most studied and mentioned as genetic factors. These two:
HEART Lp(a) Lipoprotein (a) Genotype Report
rs3798220 T/T GOOD
rs10455872 A/A GOOD
I know there could be others but I would need a separate test for those. Only my grandfather has had a heart event and that was in his late 60s (heavy heavy smoker). My grandpa lived to 97 and my 2 grandmas to 88.
My mom (70) and my dad (75) have zero heart issues. I am wondering what could be going on here for me to get such a high result. Not just elevated but twice the high number.
A few ideas:
1.) I just got through COVID 2 weeks prior to the test. Could have elevated it? Maybe a retest is in order?
2.) I am a 41 year old woman and could be getting into premenopausal status and that has been known to increase LP(A) due to drop of estrogen?
3.) One of my parents has it and never really showed signs of it in their live and in past histories.
4.) Hypothyroidism can also increase numbers. My dad had this when he was in his 60s and still takes medication for it. I show no signs but he did not either until a blood test.
So many different theories. Would be nice to be able to really hone in on one.

I’m interested in reading film criticism—not amateur reviews, but works by professionals or people with extensive knowledge of cinema and its analysis.
I’d like variety, so if the criticism covers both contemporary films and movies made many years ago, I have no problem with that.
The criticism can be from someone in any country and written in any language.

I just started playing the sims 3 again after like 10+ years. My sim met Vita Alto at work and I invited her and her husband over, after they left I got a pop up saying Holly Alto died. I have so many questions and really want to know what she died of but I have no idea how to go about doing this. I can't seem to find any answers online. I tried playing as them to see if it said anything on the family tree or if they had her gravestone but I couldn't find anything. They don't even seem upset 💀 but she is GONE.
I don't have any mods or anything I literally just started playing. I can't remember anything like this happening when I've played before so I was genuinely take off guard.

I want to make it clear that I’ve never had sex and I’m a very clean person. when I was in the shower today, I went to clean my genitals and there was a weird bump thingy. I immediately finished cleaning myself and then washed my hands before getting out. I used my phone to see what it was and it was a weird, white mass. Small, but big enough to be visible and noticeable. I loved the skin around it to see a bit more and there was a tiny HOLE IN MY SKIN. I squeezed most of the weird stuff that was inside out of it and it was slightly smelly, yellow, crumbly, and soft. Weird shit, really. I wasn’t able to get all of it out and I don’t know what the hell that was.

This is more of a rant than anything else.
I don't know if this is a new policy change or not. Apparently you can't make calls longer than 2 hours. It gets flagged as "suspicious". Since when are calls suspicious? I'm pretty sure having extensive conversations with friends and family is common. My line got deactivated because I violated those terms of use. I know all of this because I had to talk to customer service to get my line reactivated and I looked up the policy afterwards.
I'm mainly agitated because I wanted a simple phone plan. I don't do much outside of calling and texting. I use other devices for gaming, streaming, and anything else. Is StraightTalk stuck in 2005 with limited minutes? Am I missing something? What's am I paying for if I can't make calls?
