I have no qualms with Stranger Things being based on the 1980s, which pays respect to a lot of the amazing culture and nostalgia and social dynamics present during that decade that no longer function in the modern age (e.g. no widespread internet = kids still more social and outward-going etc.). But could the story and concepts still work (perhaps just as well) in the 1990s (seasons 1-5 = 1993-1997)? Of course, nostalgia for the 90s isn't as strong as the 80s, and the internet was beginning to gain traction after 1989 — though smartphones were still in infancy — but what do you think? Would you still watch the show in that case? How different would a 90s Stranger Things be?

2025.01.26 07:23 Legitimate_Pea_143 What did I do?
This is on a Note 9. I am getting ready to switch from a Pixel 8 pro to an S25U, so to make it a bit easier i used Smart switch and transferred everything from my Pixel to my old Note 9 ( i figured I'd spend hours now setting it up instead of having to spend hours setting up the S25U by transferring everything using smart switch from my pixel to the S25U). I was getting the home screen on my Note 9 the same as the home screen on my Pixel and accidentally managed to drag the My AT&T app to the very bottom of the screen and i can't seem to remove it. It's not even in my app drawer anymore for some reason so i can't uninstall it to get rid of it. WTH did I do and how do i get rid of that app at the bottom of the screen. i can't tap on it, nothing happens. I do have Nova Launcher but I'm not using it on the Note 9 as my Launcher. i thought maybe something was going on with the app padding but I uninstalled Nova thinking maybe that was causing the issue and it didn't do anything. How TF do I remove this app now, it's like it doesn't exist but it's there.

2025.01.26 07:23 aliljet Williams Gravity Floor Furnace Pilot Lit, Main Burner turns on initially, cylces off, and 95% of the time can be restarted by manually pressing red ignite button
Hey! I have an interesting problem with a floor furnace that seems to be a 45000 BTU Williams gravity floor furnace. The pilot light stays on. The thermostat can call for heat successfully. And occassionally, the furnace will cycle once on and off automatically, but then thereafter it will never relight the burner despite the pilot being on.
Here's the part that's weird:
Occasionally, I'll come by the failed heater, and press the red ignite button which will pop a little spark into the system, and sure enough the main burner will relight. In some cases, I can press the igniter again and the burner will just kick on -- isn't that weird, wouldn't the pilot light that never turns off be the thing that ignites the natural gas? Very confused.
And before you suggest the thermopile has failed, wouldn't that failure literally prevent the main burner from ever being ignited by the ignitor?

Greetings my fellow literary enthusiasts! I'll try to keep this intro brief, but as you can see from my word count above, I like to be thorough lol. This is my fifth novel, and with each one, I write it, edit it, edit it some more, and eventually start researching Literary agents and firing off queries. I know the rejection rate is high for pretty much any unknown, but after a while, I throw in the towel and self-publish just to have a tangible book I can give or sell to friends, family, and the occasional stranger I strike up a conversation with. This time I really want to continue pursuing representation, no matter how long it takes. With that being said, the first round of rejections have already started rolling in, and as I'm sure most of you know, they don't exactly come back with constructive criticism or personalized explanations as to why it wasn't their cup of tea. So, to wrap up this little rant, any and all notes, tips, tricks, likes, dislikes, advice, suggestions, etc. that might help me polish this Query letter to give my manuscript the best possible fighting chance would be extremely appreciated.

Hi! My name is Elyssa, I sat the UCAT last year (first try) and received the scores listed below. Exceeding the 90th percentile in all categories (excluding AR... but that’s not relevant anymore!). My scores collate to a total of around 2500/2700, which I can quite confidently (ish) say would be 95th percentile + in the new scoring system. I also received round 1 offer for medicine and am starting this year!
Please feel free to ask me any questions about the UCAT, from my preparation to on the day experience! I found this platform super helpful when I was preparing and I’d love to give back. I’ve been in your exact shoes.
