Hey Reddit,
I'm at a bit of a crossroads in life and could really use some advice. I've been working as a programmer for the past 7 years and, honestly, I feel like I suck at it. Over these 7 years, I've worked at 7 different companies, which I know sounds like a lot. Part of it is chasing better opportunities, and part of it is not feeling like I fit in or perform well enough.
The constant cycle of learning new tech stacks, meeting expectations, and dealing with imposter syndrome has taken a toll on me. I can't help but feel like I’m just not cut out for this field. I’m 29 now, and while I initially thought I’d build a solid career in tech, I’m not so sure anymore.
I’m considering switching to a different career path but don’t really know where to start.
Here’s a bit more about me:
- I have a background in frontend development, mostly React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
- I’ve worked on a range of projects, from micro frontends to marketplace apps.
- I own a house (so at least I’m not paying off an EMI).
- I don't intend on getting married or having kids ever.
Appreciate any guidance or perspective you can share.

My automatic truck sometimes has trouble when reversing and will just revv before giving me any motion in reverse. Does anyone know why this is happening? I’ve also tried putting it in neutral but doesn’t seem to do anything would help if anyone knew what the problem is and what I could do to fix it

 | 1973 Ford Thunderbird: it's been sitting for the past decade because the owner never got around to fix it. Exterior is in rough shape as it has been sitting under a tree and all four tires are cracked and flat. Interior is also in rough shape. Engine partially disabled. $800 1994 Chevy Caprice station wagon: it's your friends hand me down car. All four hub caps are missing there is some rust on and underneath the car. Interior is in Decent shape aside from some plastic trim pieces being missing. Runs and drives but randomly stalls. $1000 1999 Lincoln Town car: it was your grandma's old car. She hit a deer so she doesn't drive this car anymore. Exterior is a little banged up from hitting the deer but the interior is in pristine condition. Runs but needs a new radiator. $900 2007 Chevy Impala: it's your cousin's old car. He bought a Altima and doesn't need this car anymore. Exterior is a little banged up and the is rust near the rear fenders. Interior smells like cigarettes and the passenger seat is torn up. Runs but there is a knocking noise coming from the engine. $1100 1987 Ford Crown Victoria: it's being sold at a local junkyard. The exterior has been spray painted with matt black spray paint, with the name Ron being spray painted on the sides. Interior is in decent shape aside from the headliner which is missing. Runs but doesn't move. $700 1987 Buick Park avenue: it's also being sold at the junkyard. The previous owner was tweaker so the interior smells like piss. Exterior also in rough shape. Has a blown head gasket. $500 1990 Cadillac brougham: it's being sold at a shady buy here pay here lot. Interior battered and smells like weed and the trunk won't stay shut with a bungee cord. Runs but has some electrical problems. $1300 1996 Cadillac Deville: it's being sold on the side of the road. The exterior is slightly beat up as the paint is peeling and there is some rust. Interior looks alright though the window. No clue if it runs or drives The paper sign says $600 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88: it's being sold by your neighbor who bought it new in 1978. Interior is in mostly decent shape aside from the driver seat that is collapsed and is being held together with duct and the AC doesn't work. Exterior has surface rust on the hood and roof. Runs and drives but doesn't have brakes. $650 2000 Chrysler Concord: it's being sold next to deville. Interior looks messed up and the driver side has been side swiped. The sign says it runs. $1000 1968 Chrysler 300: it's been sitting on your grandpa's property since you remember. Interior destroyed and has a ant infestation and is full of old furniture.
