Hi there - will take the gmat exam in 2 weeks at home and was wondering if anybody can give me guidance with regards to the set up? As I understood, no monitors are allowed and probably no headphones. But what about mouse, a lamp light etc?
I have read the guidance online but just looking from imput from the people that know this first hand. Thank you!
(I know it is better to take it at the center but I am a waiver student, so my school paid for my code and now I need to take it as an online exam).

I’m currently an 11th grade student in high school and I have been thinking of majoring in either economics or accounting. I’m considering studying in Germany, South Korea, or Australia. My grades are not bad but also not very perfect either. Aspects i truly lack in are extracurricular activities and awards. I understand that both of these majors require you to be good at math and i’m willing to improve. It’s not that i’m considering these majors because i’m crazy about it, but because im literally have no interest in anything and thinking of the future salary. Not to mention that application time is getting closer. Please help me choose my major and share your experiences! thanks

2025.01.27 16:52 qoqofreak Splitter Mid Cycle Recap

Stats 3.mid (STEM; school with GPA deflation), 17high, nURM, T2 (or maybe even T1?) softs.
I'm a re-applicant (sent everything in mid-to-late October) who went into this cycle thinking I had a genuine shot at any school. I'm happy I shot my shot, and I'm grateful for the schools that gave me a chance! I'm leaning towards Berk as of now!!
My notes on the terminology debates on this sub: I call this a "mid-cycle" recap not in any temporal sense (although the timing does seem to line up with it being about halfway through the cycle) but rather because I'm now waiting on just under half of the schools to reply.
Also, I see people debate the term "splitter," and I think they fall into two camps: 1) the absolutists who believe a true "splitter" must have a GPA below every law school's median (e.g. sub 3.0) and 2) those who move the goal posts depending on the school they are applying to -- i.e. you're a splitter at a given school if your GPA is under that school's median.
There's 2 problems with the first camp. First, they fail to empathize with the, for example, 3.5 GPA T14 applicant, whose GPA seems high but is, in actually, not helping them at schools with 3.9 GPA medians. Secondly, they're not absolutists about LSAT -- they wouldn't say you must be above every school's LSAT median to be a splitter. So there's a consistency problem.
The problem with the second way of thinking also lies in its lack of perspective and sympathy. It allows literal 3.9s to call call themselves splitters (e.g. a 3.95/176 is technically a "splitter" at Yale). And that's just ridiculous. Admissions doesn't see it that way, and it is totally unhelpful when a low GPA applicant goes on Reddit for advice and inspiration, clicks on posts by a so-called "splitter," and is met with stories from a high-enough GPA applicant.
This post has now turned into something else, and I apologize for that. Just wanted to address some of the minor controversies on this sub.

There is one high school that I sub, that is quick to place you in another class, if you have two prep periods. There reasoning is that there is no reason for a sub to have two prep periods.
I always take the class and I don’t think anything about it, until I found out through my substitute union that they have to PAY me if they take away a prep.
If I am assigned a class where the teacher has two prep periods, then I am entitled to two prep periods. Whatever schedule the teacher has is the only schedule I have to follow.
So — they have to pay me for covering another class. This is something I never knew. Go union!
We also get five paid sick days.
I’m really digging this job…

How can I help my sick Monstera? My Monstera doesn't look good. I checked the roots, they had root bound but apart from that they looked well and healthy. So I repotted her to a bigger pot. But that didn't help. I water her every one to two weeks. She is standing in front of an south easy facing window, but because it is winter she doesn't really get any sun light. Does anyone know what's wrong and what I can do? Should I cut back all leaves?
