I’ll preface this by saying I’m a nearly 30-year-old woman who is probably being far too cynical when reading Jacky’s books. But I was once a precocious autistic 8-year-old who absolutely picked holes in storylines just as much as I do now. I need to know I’m not alone in this!
The biggest plot hole for me is the ‘time jump’ between Sleepovers and its sequel. The books are set roughly either side of the summer holidays. In those few months, they went from peak 2000s renting videos at “the video shop” to watching TikToks. Lily also couldn’t lift her hands properly to feed herself in the first book, but mere months later she’s not only learned Makaton but can move her hands and fingers to sign it herself. Obv, Lily, you go babe. And equally it’s a lovely, positive stance. But it’s so jarring to me, and I absolutely would have picked up on it as a child. Jacky could have just written it about an internet/TV star to blend the generation change, instead of trying to “how do you do fellow kids” it with TikTok. She could have made Lily’s progress much more gradual, realistic, and educational.
Am I overthinking this? Absolutely. But would I have done the same as a child of the age the books are aimed at? Absolutely. I love you Jacky, but it’s pure lazy writing.
Anyway, please make me feel better by sharing the other inconsistencies that make you unreasonably irate. There’s another that always bothered me but I can’t remember which book it is, so hoping someone says it to jog my memory!

(iOS) Keyboard bug. Hi just started playing this on my iPhone. Was introduced to the DOS prompt and was looking through directories when the progress bar finished.
The iPhone doesn’t have a dedicated hide keyboard button. So normally I’d tap outside of a text box to close. But nothing works.
Also, the completion screen can’t be closed. So I’m locked out of the game until I reset.

2025.01.27 17:17 Dliverance [WTS] Douglas 16” SS mk12 mod H barrel, KAK downvent bcg and Daniel Defense RIS III 12.5” rail

  1. Douglas barrel with otter creek collar, otter creek flash hider and gas block. This barrel has under 300 rounds. Date of manufacture is 03/2024. Twist rate is 1:7. It’s marked PRI I guess because that’s who I purchased it from. There’s some salt where the set screws for the gas block and barrel contact the barrel but you can’t see them with the parts installed. Price is $300 shipped for the lot.
  2. KAK downvent bcg. This is phosphate finish however the extractor and cam pin are NP3. Unsure of round count but it’s in good shape. $150 shipped.
  3. Daniel Defense RIS 3. There’s some minor salt on the barrel nut and handguard but it’s not bad. No scratches or anything like that. Just little spots from the barrel nut wrench and mlok attachments I used. $325 shipped.

2025.01.27 17:17 ajayd2 How to darken a light spot on cabinet?

I picked up this record cabinet with the intention of refinishing it. After sanding, I'm still seeing a light patch maybe caused by sunbleaching or some liquid staining from the original owner. Any recommendations for how I could even out the color? I'm concerned that if proceed with finishing, that I'll be able to see the color variation.
I've added a photo of pre sanding and post, where you can still see the spot.

I'm pretty new to reading. I just finished Animal Farm, by George Orwell and I'm currently reading Fight Club, by Chuck Palahniuk.
I'm turning to books to wean myself off of social media, but I just don't know how to pick books so that I don't lose interest.
The (movie) genres I enjoy (in no particular order) are sci-fi, horror, thrillers, westerns. I enjoy a good plot twist.
Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I’ve been trying to get back money owed to me from an individual for 6 years. I was finally able to take them to small claims court in 2023 but they stopped paying so I had to file a motion pf judgment in 2024. This person hastily has not paid but has had time to send unsolicited texts and pictures to my phone over the years, has recently made up a lie that I sent a death threat to him (which of course, I did not), and has been playing a number of mind games and come up with excuses to avoid paying the money. I don’t have a lawyer, I can’t afford one, but I would like to contact the judge to inform them of what this person has been doing. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
