I’m excited for the upcoming life-sim games coming up (like InZoi & paralives) but I wish simulation games would get away from The Sims format. It feels like The Sims made their UI with the sims 2 and that’s been the blueprint for not only The Sims, but all life-sim games. Not that I don’t like The Sims, I just wanna play something that feels totally fresh and different. Honestly I’m not sure how you would even make it different (the sims DID do it really well the first time) but I just want something new. Anybody else?

2025.01.29 02:40 chaos_scryer recommendations & advice on picking/how to pick a tenor sax please
Well to begin, I've never posted to reddit and have just found this subreddit. I've done some poking around the recommendation requests and got a little lost so I figured I'd "first time caller long time listener" this and submit my first inquiry.
From what I can tell picking a saxophone and getting recommendations is fairly personalized so I'm going to do my best to provide relevant info.
I started playing saxophone in 4th grade and played through 10th (concert for all 7 years, jazz for 3 and marching band for 2). I started on alto and switched to tenor after about 2yrs or so. Less of a conscious choice, more of a we need a tenor sax. I ended up preferring it and when given the option to switch back or switch to bari or soprano I ended up sticking with tenor. When I stopped playing it was due to scheduling conflicts with classes and after I didn't have access to an instrument since I couldn't afford one at the time.
So now it's been about a decade and some change and I'm looking to start back up again. For context I was never a great player but played competently and consistently enough not to garner any attention outside of being pulled for jazz band.
1) I've never picked out my own instrument or mouthpiece, just my reed and even then my instructors told me which to get (2.5 or 3).
I'm not sure what brands or models to start looking at, or if I should primarily be considering beginner or intermediate instruments. I played 2 different altos and about 3 different tenors but I don't remember the brands or anything. I know I'd like to not spend more than about $2,500.
2) I also don't know what to listen for, look for, or feel for when picking an instrument, when assessing whether or not it's a good fit.
3) Where to start looking? Other than FB Marketplace.
4) Would it be best to start with a handful of classes with a instructor?
5) What resources should I use to start back up?
That's all I can think of now. I'm open to any recommendations, thoughts or advice y'all may have. Or if someone could point me in the direction of any different threads they think may be relevant, that'd also be greatly appreciated.

I have made it to Archades but my party feels very weak. I had to skip the big bomb boss in Salika woods and the enemies in the sochen cave can overpower me if I’m not careful. However, this area doesn’t seem to be leveling me up quickly. Is there a better spot to be grinding levels/LP/items to sell for gil at this stage of the game?

My wife is a horrible alcoholic. Twice a week she usually blacks out by 7-8:15pm after I get home from work/on the weekends. Had tons of screaming in the face, gaslighting, blah blah, etc. I’m so used to the bullshit it should be considered mental illness at this point.
Currently I’m watching my 3 year old absolutely destroy her expensive makeup set and brushes. I couldn’t give a single fuck in the world. He’s having the time of his life.
Am I going to have to explain what happened? Yeah. Do I really give a shit no? Nah.
Am I an asshole or have I reached this level of numbness that I should possibly seek help for my mental stability? lol
(I post this ironically, but in reality I’ve dated successful, smart, and charming women before my wife. I didn’t know she’d end up turning out this way. I’ve always drank socially and had fun with my friends but I’ve never sat and drank myself stupid by myself. The way she is now makes me feel like I’m just wasting my life away. I feel like I’m worth more than this and so many other people could appreciate what I have to bring to the table other than someone who can’t have control over themselves and act like a dipshit 24/7.)
