2025.01.29 03:00 _FluffyUnicorn_ Intercom phone to flat keeps ringing intermittently for no apparent reason, can't work out why.
Not sure if this is an appropriate sub but it's 3am and I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this.
First heard a faint buzzing 2-3 times a minute around 7pm, which then got louder until it became a proper ringing sound. It'll only ring once or twice in a row then stop, and it happens very irregularly so not sure if it's a fault on the intercom system or somebody persistently buzzing our number.
It's an old style corded phone with no switch to turn it off so I can't do that, has anyone else been through this?

hey guys,
this is going to be a long one. for some backstory, me and my boyfriend met in high school around 5 years ago, and have been together since. i went to canada for uni and he went to the us. we usually meet in our home town when we go back for holidays but after this visit over christmas, we’ve been trying to find a way to visit eachother at uni. our parents know eachother, have met a few times but we come from conservative families that are religious. my parents are so so chill and i’m very close to them. but they don’t allow me to fly to see him because they think his parents will think i have no respect for myself. idk if that makes sense to people that aren’t from my culture but yeah. and his parents well they’re very strict and there’s no chance they’d let him come plus they have his location and actively keep tabs on him.
so i have my midterm break coming up next month and we decided it’d be good idea for me to fly out to the us to visit him. mind you i wouldn’t tell my parents that i was going, cuz ive asked them over 10 times and they said no. so i was thinking id go for 4-5 days and come back and pretend i was at my uni house the whole time. honestly its pretty fool proof considering they don’t have my location and they’re across the world from me.
my boyfriend said he’ll pay for my ticket so that’s not an issue. my issue is if they find out my relationship with them would be ruined forever. i don’t have a bad relationship with them, but they don’t understand why i need to see him if i just saw him a month ago. anyway just wanted opinions on this matter because ive had some people say YOLO and the others think it’s not the greatest idea going to another country without telling my parents.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
