2025.01.30 07:18 stewi2 Bring your own router?
I just signed up for the Core 1Gig plan, planning to use my own (UniFi) router. I could have sworn that there used to be an officially supported option to use your own router without them requiring you to hold on to their router as well (and using it in bridge mode). When I mentioned that to the tech who do the install, he said that they changed everybody's plans to now always include Google's equipment, but said that I could still plug my own directly into the fiber jack. So now I have couple boxes of hardware of theirs that I don't intend to use :)
Interestingly, when I logged on to my account and clicked on "use your own router", there's a note that says "Using your own router requires that the Google Fiber router remain plugged in as a bridge to the Fiber Jack.".
It's all working just fine directly plugged in, but that thing about using your own router requiring theirs in bridge mode surprised me a bit. I guess that is really a new thing? Or has it always been that way?

Big whinge post I get it but let me vent.
I barely missed my bus at busport today, I would have made it if I was able to walk down the escalator, but two men standing side by side and an impenetrable wall of backpack blocked me and anybody else from passing, couldn't have said "sorry or excuse me" any louder.
I went to use the bathroom later in the day, some guy was in the back of the hallway talking on the phone and moved to go into the men's just before me, only to stand in the entrance and block it, still talking on the phone! He didn't move for like ten seconds.
Left a Coles earlier in the week, got stopped from leaving the self checkout area because a person decided to stand still as they fished their headphones out of their backpack and out them on.
I swear people didn't have this bad a sense of space a few years ago, keep left & out of the way! You take up more space than just your head!

 | To anyone willing to help/give advice, So I got this piercing done about three weeks ago at a local tattoo/piercing shop. After a week, the original jewelry was digging into the piercing hole and stretched it to the point where I could almost slide the ball halfway into my piercing. I went back and a different piercer changed my jewelry for a longer bar. It's been two weeks since then, but it hasn't really healed any better. I'm cleaning it twice a day with a spray saline solution and when I shower I just lightly clean it with water and pink Dove soap bar. First picture is right after I got the piercing with the original jewelry, second picture is how it looks right now. I'm thinking of maybe getting new jewelry with a bigger ball so it doesn't keep accidentally going into the piercing hole? Is there any saving this piercing? It's currently not, but should the dev consider it? If Sordland increases the military budget, funds the MIC to boost production and health for medical supplies, eliminates the BFF, limits ties with Rumburg's opponents, aka superpowers (e.g. no aid from them), achieves economic recovery, and co-invests in Gasom with Rizia, shouldn't Rayne have more leverage when negotiating with Ms. Notorious Livingston? Alternatively, it's the same but the opposite for the superpowers, as Sordland aligns with one bloc and possibly allies with its respective major power in the region, especially Lespia with its famed Air Force and mechanized Army (or Valgsland if their Navy is more effective and we can fund another military branch). Shouldn't that deter Rumburg from antagonizing Sordland through its exploitative deal lest the latter join the superpower? With aligned ideologies, maybe we can retain communication with ATO/CSP as leverage in the Reconciliation path. In response, Rumburg can offer a better gas deal, e.g. doesn't cost budget as Rumburg contributes financially to constructing the pipeline, just increase the EPA limit like joining a bloc, and/or even gain green trade volume. How much of these we gain is based on deterrence aka negotiating power Sordland has.
TLDR can Sordland, through sufficient deterrence, achieve an equal trade deal with Rumburg that is a win-win for both?

So I had the security investigation a couple days ago and fucked it up beyond repair like I’m 90% sure I’m not going to be eligible for secret which is what I need . To preface In the interview a bunch of SF86 info was wrong, apparently my recruiter filled out a lot of it without me knowing specially the names listed as people they would contact to ask about me I didn’t write in there, meaning my recruiter wrote 2/3 people I’ve never met before on the form without my knowledge. The investigator sped through that section and I didn’t realize till after the interview that they would need to contact those people( I’m sharp asf if you can’t tell) and what’s said is done. It’s insanely retarded I know and I’m obviously gonna get denied a clearance when they call these people and don’t know who I am. But my question is can you still enlist without having that clearance if it’s for a job that doesn’t require it, my bets on no and I obviously deserve it from being dumb but any insight would help

2025.01.30 07:18 DinnerAfter6492 After finaly having good news, Dad has become meaner to me.
So it's mee again. I've posted a few things during my journey with Thyroid cancer but I think today's is going to be the most emotional. I'm going to say this, I don't even know what I'm looking for anymore.
But it feels like my Dad has given up on any kind of support since we got a good update with my Cancer.
The good news:after RAI it's clear that the cancer hasn't spread, there's remnants in my neck still but being killed by the RAI. I am so close to an official clear it feels like.
My Dad... has taken this as a full "I'm cured" and run with it... and his emotional softness it seems has run out. Not that there was much to begin with, my Dad getting angry for at me crying and confiding with friends, getting offended when me and my brother told him off for radiation jokes were all things that happened while he knew I had cancer.
But now that I am "Cured." Its gotten worse. The first thing my Dad said to me when we got in the car was that cancer was my "warning" in life. He used that word. He then brought up a list of things for me to do now that I'm "cured" all things that have well been on my list and I have been heavily thinking about since diagnosis. But as opposed to optimism... it felt like he was harkening into me about my faults. That my job shafted me of shifts, that I couldn't afford driving lessons because of that... that I need to graduate- when I am well into my final year of university and LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. Trust me I want a job, I want to move out. This whole experience made me realise how little support I actually have at home emotionally and that my Dad... honestly made me feel worse about everything. I felt like my sickness was a burden and that I had somehow dampened his life. And now I feel like I'm just not good or strong enough for him.
I tell him that it sounds like he's saying I deserved the cancer as a warning... he then gets offended and tells me "not to read into what he's said"... then why did he say it... Nome of my boundaries or words arr being taken seriously by my dad... they never have been.
He then got offended I didn't want to go to my grandparents place. [I had just been in hospital and isolation with RAI. I hadn't even had a minute to process the news myself NOR TELL MY MUM] he kinda stayed silent on me for the rest of the day after that. And its the only thing my Mum actively defended me on.
And I'm exhausted. I've practically beaten cancer and I still am not good enough...I don't know what is even left of the relationship anymore. I just want to leave and run away somewhere. I want to move out but my mum keeps insisting I stay and that I'll never move out because it's good for them. Am I meant to just take this shit forever?
How can I when I can't confidently say my Dad supported me through cancer. He just sponsored it and expected money was good enough...
