I feel like my existence is bothersome. I’m only eighteen and I don’t contribute financially to my household (disabled, can’t work), but I do consistently maintain the housework so at least something is done. I cook dinner most days. When I do find myself with some money from freelance art commissions, I’ll buy groceries. It still doesn’t feel like enough. My parents are worn thin financially and I’m made to feel as if my contributions to the household are for naught. I can’t give them anything and I just feel useless. My mom just always looks unhappy. I just think that if there was one less child, things would’ve been easier for them financially

2025.01.29 02:50 Fluffy_Monitor_1348 Thinking about completely starting over with an AA in Business Administration-Accounting
Did anybody else pivot significantly from a previous educational/career path and go for accounting? I recently completed my community college's interest evaluation, and accounting was my top indicated interest area.
I don't have any previous experience in accounting. I'm not even sure why I want to pursue this other than it sounds interesting, it showed up as the best possible choice for the questions I answered, and I'd like to secure a career in the future. Pretty solid reasoning in my opinion but I just have no prior experience as to what makes me think I would enjoy it.
I'm kinda older to be starting an A.A. (29). I got my B.A. in Psychology but it turns out I need to change directions or else I might not have a future at this point. I decided not to take the degree any further because it's not something I want to pursue anymore. I think I might be better suited for something else.
Does anybody have recommendations for starting a career path in accounting, and pretty late for that matter? The program doesn't start for another 7 or so months and I have plenty of time to bring myself up to speed. For example, I'm considering taking some classes on Coursera to familiarize myself with the subject beforehand.

Hello all. Coming here as I have a fairly difficult situation I am in. I am 31 years old with a BBA and a masters degree in sport administration I received in 2023 with the hopes of making a career out of sports, ideally professional football in business related roles, or scouting. Currently I am a volunteer football coach at a Division 2 university and sell real estate for income. With real estate, door dashing and working with a hockey team, I barely made over $30,000 for the year. My college debt has accumulated $85,000, which is the average for those with a masters degree. I feel like time is running out for me and unsure what to do next. I worked in pro football with the United States Football League in 2023 in video operations, but the merger between the USFL and the XFL cut the team I worked for, also ending my job in pro football. I've worked many internships throughout college and after, being a "Jack of All trades" as professors I've talked to encouraged me to do, but was told a few days ago by a coach that a "Jack of all trades is a master of none." So now im up in arms about what the hell to do next. I didn't know any better as neither of my parents went to college, nor my siblings. I wanted to pursue a career that didn't feel like work and I was happy doing. Watched my old man hate his job in construction was the motivator for me to pursue college and study my passion. "You can achieve anything once you set your mind to it" is what kept my hopes up. But here I am typing this, sitting in an Applebee's parking lot, door dashing at 9:47pm.
At what point does someone give up?

I (31 F) live with my husband (34 M) and our infant daughter. My 6 y/o stepdaughter comes over on Fridays and stays until Sunday. Recently, my stepdaughter has been talking a lot about the state of her mom’s home. I have seen their house many times before, and it is definitely approaching “hoarder” status. This past weekend, my husband had to go into their house and he said it was to the point where he couldn’t even walk. Things piled high in the bedrooms, hallways, and bathrooms. Obviously, this is extremely concerning.
My predicament is how do we approach this situation without calling the kettle black? We are two working adults with an infant who takes up all of our energy when we get home. Often, dishes are left in the sink overnight or the dining room table becomes a “catch all” for our keys, my purse, diaper bag stuff… I just returned back to work after 8.5 months of maternity leave and we were also all sick the past week or so and household chores have for the most part been neglected. Hubby and I aren’t hoarders (hell-we still don’t even have a couch after a year of living here lol).
We have worked extremely hard to have a safe and happy home. We do enjoy the look of a clean house. It just breaks my heart to hear my stepdaughter talk about how bad her house with mom is, and broke it even more to hear about how bad it was coming from my husband. The few times we have brought this up to her mom, we have always been met with excuses as to why she is unable to clean. It is definitely a mental health situation.
