I am looking to upgrade my GPU. I usually edit in 4K, rarely in 6K. I use heavy color gradings and dehancer plugin. Usually my projects are 5-30 minutes max. Which GPU would be better for me? Also, I am planning to learn 3D Design in Blender etc. I don't know if I need full performance or more VRAM?
My options are;
RTX 3080 Ti 12GB RTX 4060 Ti 16GB RTX 5070 12GB or a used second hand RTX 3090 24GB

I live in a one bedroom apartment. I'm thinking of moving sometime soon elsewhere. The problem is that I've lived here for many years now and I've settled in. Moving is such a pain! Boxes were ceiling to floor when I moved in, and I want to avoid that when I move out. I have a lot of "stuff", but I'm attached to it. My hang ups:
- This could be worth money! I should try to sell it Or
- This is something that triggers a fond memory.

So a bit of history about me. I have had dreams that came true in the past no more than 3 times. Every time has resulted in a severe case of Deja Vu where i believe it was something i did before, but the situation is always something very bizarre like 'talking to someone from school who i dont like about women's tennis shoes in front of the school' or 'running down a specific hill running from something'. I will be the first to admit i have nonsensical dreams like everyone else, but i normally don't dream at all. this has caused me to think very critically about when i do have a dream. The following dream is absolutely a dream that needs interpreting ad not a potential deja vu moment in the making;
I am working on a farm tilling an empty field on a tractor. I move back and forth across the field, but whenever i look back the field is almost like its made of stone and the marks from tilling are just scratches on the ground. Eventually i till the entire field and then i see a man driving away in a truck. The man is in the bed of the truck driving it backwards, and in the cab of the truck there is a small boy with a pillow and a blanket looking like he is preparing to sleep. I feel like i should recognize the man and child, but cannot place them.
I do not have any more after this because i was awoken from that dream. This dream has disturbed me greatly for an unknown reason and has been a great source of anxiety.

10+ year veteran in that I graduated in the early 2010s with a BFA from NYU. I have my equity and sag cards.
I started out in NYC and moved to LA after undergrad.
I’ve struggled to transition into becoming a working actor. I’ve since pivoted onto filmmaking as well and my first short film is playing the festival circuit (I directed, wrote, and acted in it). Didn’t get into any tier one festivals but quite a few prestigious, curated tier twos relevant to our targeted audience.
Not feeling myself bc I started doing musical theatre auditions again. Took private voice lessons. It’s been three successive rejections. Also didn’t get called back for either of the costar self-tapes I submitted this Fall.
I feel masochistic in that I still believe I’m honing my craft. Objectively I feel I’m getting better, especially with on camera acting. And I know I don’t audition enough to book.
But I can’t help but feel pathetic. I still enjoy my art and I do feel like I’m in it it for the long haul. But sometimes I can’t help but feel like when am I going to get my break. Am I being delusional and romanticizing my art? Is there worth in me being told no again and again?
I work full-time and have had to develop a skill-set to pay the bills. So that’s not a worry.
Is there a way for me to not feel like after a decade plus, all I have to my name is a short film that had an okay run and a bunch of regional theatre and tv guest star final call backs? Plus a network of successful actors, filmmakers, and tv writers to tap into and draw from. It makes me feel…I don’t want to say like a failure but a dreamer with an expensive hobby.

I’ve been rewatching Switched at Birth, and something from Season 1 has always bothered me. In the episode where Kathryn starts writing her book, John meets with a journalist he knows, and she reveals she’s also planning to write a book about the switch. What never made sense to me is how she planned on writing a book about something she had no firsthand experience with, especially since Kathryn literally lived the switch. I get that the journalist was established and probably had publishing credibility, so maybe her name would sell more copies. But Kathryn could’ve just refused to share personal details, leaving the journalist with only public records and news articles. Without inside information, how was she planning to write a whole book? And why did she think hers would be more successful? Was it just about marketability, or did I miss something?

2025.01.30 08:21 StreetCompetition166 Driver San Francisco (DVD) on SteamDeck ... how???
Hi everyone.. I do have a legal copy (DVD) of Driver SF here for PC. As the game is no longer listed in Steam, the only way is, to install it through DVD, I guess?
The thing is, I dont have any idea, what to do exactly (!) on the SteamDeck, and I hope, someone can help me out here..
What I did so far:
- Plugged my USB-DVD-Drive to the Deck
- "Add non-Steam game to Steam" - I picked the "setup.exe" from the DVD
- I set compatibility to Proton 3.16-9 (the installer needs to run in "Windows7-like-mode"..)
- I installed the game
- I changed the link of the Steam game to some other .exe in the now created gamedir on the deck. Neither the driver.exe, nor the ubisoft game launcher stuff worked for me (different proton versions tested..) I cannot start anything here.
Maybe I need to install some other version of uplay (or anything vom Ubisoft) to start the game?
Thats what I am asking for: what to I need to install where, when, how to start it, what to copy over to where and which compatibility mode do I use best?
I hope someone knows that :)
I was not asked to enter my CD-Key somewhere during the installation... Maybe there is another way to use the CD Key to download the game from Steam?? :)
