I’m watching their vlogs from the start and keep seeing people in the comments talking about ‘how much they’re grown over the years and how respectful they are of other cultures now’. Can people give me examples? I think they’re the same people, they’re just more aware of their online presence and backlash they would receive, so they’re filtering what they show.
I backpacked for 3 month as a naive 18 year old (12 years ago) but would never have acted the way they (Nate) did in those countries. In the Philippines, Nate picks up a starfish and launches it back into the water. In Japan, he’s shouting into the camera on the Metro/in the airport/ in a capsule hotel at night. The culture of respect, decency and quietness is immediately apparent as soon as you go to Japan so I was a little surprised. I’ve been to nearly 30 countries and I’ve never felt culture shock quite like it.
I’ve also noticed how they peddled travel credit cards/use of points (‘travel hacking’ as they call it) and have used exclusive airport lounges from the start. As much as people make it seem so, they really weren’t travelling like usual backpackers at the start.
I know there will be viewers here who watch more religiously than me (I started in maybe 2019/20) but they’ve always been a little out of touch to me. Are there any videos where their growth as people and respect for cultures really shines through?

I was moved to try ordering the Untamed wet food in jelly (my cat doesn’t like gravy recipes) only to realise that they are only “complementary” and that only their gravy recipes are “complete”….like why lol. They should really make this a lot clearer when you’re filling up the initial questionnaire to order from their website.
I ordered it primarily for the higher protein content. My cat has been on Whiskas wet and dry food (we just adopted her over a week ago and this is what her foster was feeding her), but I have been looking to see if there are better alternatives since the Whiskas food doesn’t have very high protein content.
She likes the Untamed wet food (have been mixing it with her Whiskas) but since it’s only complementary I’m now looking for another wet food brand that isn’t too expensive that I can supplement it with. I’m thinking Harringtons looks good for the price! Open to other suggestions - no KatKin please as it’s so expensive, I don’t have freezer space and I’m really put off that they use so much scaremongering in their marketing.

We got stuck on the tarmac for just under 3 hours before our flight. Because in Iceland, there wasn’t enough de icing trucks. Just seems ironic and wrong. I understand it’s a whether related thing but it’s January in Iceland. Seems wrong that we didn’t get any compensation. Is there action I can take? Also, maybe that’s just how the world works sometimes

Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me identify a lizard I recently saw in my backyard in Los Angeles.
We had a large, dead pine tree—about 6 feet in diameter—that needed to be removed. Trying to save some money, I attempted to chop it down myself with an axe. Even though the tree was dead, I didn’t make much progress. Still, it was good exercise and a great way to blow off some steam.
One day, after going at the tree for a good while, a lizard darted out from a crack in the tree, as if it had been living inside. I thought it might be a chameleon, cause when it saw me preparing to swing again, it seemed startled and began changing colors. However, instead of simply blending in with its surroundings, it displayed an almost iridescent, polychromatic effect—almost as if reacting to fear and couldn’t lock-on to one color so he kept changing them.
Wanting to avoid scaring it further, I set my axe down, but it quickly retreated back into the tree. A few weeks later, we had a professional tree service come in to remove the tree, and I never saw the lizard again.
Since chameleons aren’t native to Southern California—or even the U.S., as far as I know—I’m curious if anyone has any insight into what I might have seen. Could it have been a different type of color-changing lizard?
