2025.01.30 19:05 Rkitt1977 General class worth it?

Let preface this by saying the main reason doe getting licensed was to ensure I had communication to my family and access to emergency services if something happened... Think hurricane Helene, or another 9/11 situation. The longest band that I really need or want to communicate on is thr 6 meter band. When I do check into a net or want to mess around a little, it's on the 2 meter and 70cm bands.
Other than making a contact or two just for fun on the HF bands that general operators have access to, I can't think of a reason to test for general. Everything I do or have interest in is on 6m. 2m. And 70cm and I'm good with that.
That said, is there any real reason for me to upgrade? I have only used HTs and they work great for my purposes. I can't see spending the money for HF radios and antennas to never use their capabilities....

Pretty much title, I'm brand new to the game and have only been playing for a couple days, but my friend who's more of a veteran is telling me to go Tauren since he doesn't like the orc starting area and the racials are better. I'm the type of person that would rather spend a couple hundred hours on one character rather than spread them out among others, and I typically play orcs in every setting that has them, I just like the look better. Will I be hamstringing my character if I go orc with those racials instead on a shaman? All help is appreciated!

2025.01.30 19:05 marigoldjune I feel so guilty going no contact with an aging (narcissistic) parent.

For reference, I'm a therapist who fully supports my clients who go no contact with their narcissistic family members, but I have a very hard time taking my own advice lol. My dad has been an alcoholic since I was a young child. My professional opinion is that he uses alcohol to self-medicate his symptoms of bipolar disorder and trauma that he refuses to go to therapy for. Everyone in my family agrees that he's a narcissist. We've tried to have so many "interventions" with him but nothing works. After many years of narcissistic (verbal) abuse, my mom divorced him (go mom!) He lives in a different state now, so we have that physical distance, but he's started to call me and text me more frequently. On the off chance that I do pick up the phone, the conversations are short and awkward. He knows almost nothing about me, my partner, my job... essentially an absent father. However, I'm filled with so much guilt when I think about him aging. I don't think of him as an evil man, but more so a sad man who blew up his entire life because of his refusal to go to therapy, AA, or anything! Has anyone had a similar experience with a parent? And how do you deal with the guilt of going no contact (or low contact?) This shit is hard.

I am a EU-citizen and interested in several positions within BAS for winterovers.
When they specify "this job does not fulfil the UK Government minimum criterion for obtaining sponsored migrant worker status we will be unable to apply for sponsorship for anyone not eligible to work in the UK. At interview, all shortlisted candidates are required to bring with them identification documents and original documents that prove they hold or can obtain the right to work in the UK. "
Does this means that if you do not hold a current work visa for the UK you cannot be accepted ?
And, is there a few EU countries that does not require work visa for the UK ?
When I am doing simulations on https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y it seems that most of EU needs one but it is not that clear... meaning those offers are only intended for UK citizen, am I correct ?

The new OP 13 uses the fastest chip available - a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. So its definitely not CPU issues, but I am not sure if the issue is One Plus'es Oxygen OS, or the 1password software, just making you aware of it (if they are even in here).
The 1password Autofill is veeeery slow to come up on apps and websites. It does come up, but the wait lag is annoying - my older phone it was instantaneous. It is long enough to initially wonder if its going to work at all.
Good luck, I assume/hope it will be resolved at some point.

I think the government should divide the revenue/taxes that they collect to only do these 3 things:

  1. Infrastructure - roads, dams, electric grid, water supply etc basically all the shared resources.
  2. Security - Police and the army
  3. Upliftment - Provide resources for a section of the society that is underprivileged via education, healthcare, housing.
  4. Treasury - Save funds for calamities both natural and manmade.
Apart from this why do we need government for anything else? We have seen time and again they fail to do the above things with any efficiency.

Hey all,
So my husband didn't file his form on time to get his replacement "green card"... and we just got a letter in the mail that his petition to renew/replace has been denied.
The letter says that because the I-551 expired, and they did not receive his form to replace it on time, that he is INELIGIBLE to be issued a replacement Permanent Resident Card. Thus, the request has been denied.
The letter goes on to say that if we believe that this is an error, we can file Form I-290B Notice of Appeal or Motion within 30 calendar days of this decision. Fair enough.
I have been looking through the 1-290B form online and it states that he needs to provide/attach evidence as to why he is making this appeal...
I would love any advice as to what kind of language or evidence they are looking for. How should we word this to explain that he just simply didn't file it on time and realized his card expired when it was already too late!.... He submitted the forms as he was supposed to, but it was received by USCIS too late...
Should he/Could he provide proof that he is working a full time job as the "evidence"?... tax returns?... any evidence that he is just busy working hard and making a living here, to help support his case?...
Any guidance is appreciated. I don't believe this is a big enough deal to hire a lawyer, but I wanted to reach out here and see is anyone else has experienced this and has some advice. Thanks in advance!
