2025.01.30 14:59 assault_rifle_ VR&E won’t retroactively induce
I just finished the meeting with the vre counselor. They said I was approved and entitled into the program, but since I’m currently using my ch.33 benefits I can’t be in the program until I’m finished with that. They said I have to wait until I’m finished with my current semester to reapply. I asked about retroactive induction but was told that they wouldn’t even consider that until I at least got my bachelor’s. The counselor then complained asking why I was so worried about that since they’re gonna pay for the rest of my school anyways. I’m worried because I’m entitled to it. I told her I wanted to start the process of induction immediately and she was saying that it’s not something they just give to anyone and they would decide that if I need it. I also was under the impression that if I were retroactively inducted I would be reimbursed for any school supplies and equipment I purchased that was necessary for school while using my ch.33 benefits but she said they don’t do that at all unless your 100% disability. Is she pulling one over on me about all of this? And if so what can I do about it?

I simply cannot believe the level of racism that I encountered today on leaving Saudi Arabia. Having gone through it I wanted to elaborate on my experience to see if others had faced the same and if anything can be done to get some justice.
I had an amazing first visit to the country to perform umrah with my mother. It went well for the most part and today I checked into my flight and went to passport control which was just before security. As me and my mother turned up and gave the Saudi gentleman our passport he started shouting in Arabic to my mother and signalling for her to put her finger on the scanner and to look at the camera. He was really aggressive and shouting. I don’t understand arabic but whilst he was doing this shouting at us he kept saying Pakistani to his colleague who was sat in the next cubicle. I am not Pakistani by the way. My mother who is the most gentle soul imaginable was so shook by this mans behaviour she asked him to speak with respect. He kept on shouting and my mother went to another cubicle. I got out google translate and typed that he should try to speak with some respect with me. He started shouting pakistani this and that.
As I left the cubicle he walked around the cubicle towards his colleague in the next cubicle and started laughing with him whilst looking at us. I was really upset and so was my mother. I asked security to get the manager so I could make a complaint. The lady came and I explained the situation. I said to her even though I am not Pakistani, I do not think racism is right and the actions of the two border control people was unacceptable. She asked who it was and it was obvious the person in question had gone to hide. I approached his desk and said this is where he was sat. His colleague who he was laughing with originally said no, there was no one there.
Very bizarre experience. Very upsetting. The way the whole scene played out, the confidence which this person was spouting his obvious hatred towards us (thinking we are pakistani), his colleague who laughed with him after, his colleague covering for him afterwards and the fact that the manager looked like she was powerless to do anything.
I guess right now I am fuming and was just looking for some advice. Has anyone else faced this level of rudeness on umrah? Should I tell the British embassy or is that pointless? How shall I approach this kind of behaviour next time. The thing is Pakistani hatred is something that I noticed low key throughout my trip but as soon people found out I am another nationality they suddenly became nice. On this occasion I actually felt the full force of the hatred. I really feel sorry for the Pakistani brothers and sisters who have to face this, it really is not right. And also why do they hate the Pakistani’s so much?
Sorry for the rant.
