2025.01.30 18:10 DylanMusgrave PSA - The Deadline to Appeal your Property Tax Assessment is within 31 days after receiving your assessment notice
Everybody has been talking about how outrageous some of their property tax increases have been (not just in Truro but all over Nova Scotia), I just wanted to make a quick post to make sure that people know if you feel your increased Property Assessed Amount is unfair, you have the right to dispute the increase. This dispute must be filed within 31 days after receiving your Property Tax Assessment Notice.

A lot of properties in Truro have seen a significant increase in their property taxes, whether justified or not, keep in mind a lot of properties have extremely low assessment values compared to what 'market value' prices of real estate is in 2025 (even though, remember, market price does not equal what the assessment value should necessarily be, however market value does influence assessed value). Here's an example:
Someone has lived in the same home for 20 years and decided to sell their property in 2024 for $350,000. The property is only assessed at $170,000 because of the Cap program increasing the assessed value by a tiny margin each year. When the new owner takes possession, that $170,000 assessed value 'corrects' itself to the market value of the property. So, the new assessed value for 2025 increases to $300,000, causing a dramatic increase in taxes for the new owner.

Just an FYI, the cap rate increase for 2025 is 1.5%.

I was looking at the membership fees and I see that different YMCAs within the Blue Ridge system have different monthly payments but still allow for access to the other YMCA locations. Is it possible to get a member ship in, say, Salem and use the Tanglewood YMCA? Sorry if this is a redundant or low effort question, just curious!

I've realized from posting here that many of us hit the same roadblocks with management. Many of them seem to be bad in the same way.
The behavior I've seen most evident after having worked at multiple jobs, is that hospitality managers are good at listening, but bad at taking action. I've found when you try to address real problems, you can have a long talk with a manager and come away thinking it was a productive time. Then nothing changes.
If I had the proverbial nickel for every time I heard the following, I'd be driving my choice of Lamborghini.
"We're aware of it "
"Don't think we don't see it."
"We're going to address it."
"We are going to have a staff meeting to address everyone's concerns."
Nothing ever changes.

I’m quickly getting disappointed. I’d like to have the tailgate wiring recall done. For s#its n giggles as mine has not failed. Since the truck will be at the dealer I’ve inquired about the SB 24-061 regarding the wireless charger replacement.
Two N GA dealers have asked me for a $150+ diagnostic fee and another one gave me attitude that if the charger doesn’t fail while at the dealer they’re not replacing it.

Any decent experience with another N GA dealers?

2025.01.30 18:10 Passport_throwaway17 To drink alcohol or not to drink alcohol when flying US -> EUR? Your thoughts on how to best overcome jet-lag.
Flying US -> EUR, and need to be a functional human being upon arrival (work).
I'm thinking I'll drink some wine to fall easily asleep on the plane before take-off (ideally). I'm basically being a sleep-accountant here: any additional hour of sleep I can get is good, and wine might help.
But word is, any alcohol is bad when flying: it just dries you out and sleep quality will be poor.
Experienced fliers, what are your thoughts?

I've been traveling for the last few months and met a girl, A, in a multi day tour, whom I met again couple more times in other locations. Both encounters had other people from the initial tour.
I was talking with A from time to time on IG, similar to others I met on my travels. I wouldn't call the way I was talking flirtatious, neither I got the impression of her flirting. But it wasn't exactly the same as talking with others either, there was a tiny bit something, we were talking longer etc.
At the time I had a "short term relationship" with another girl, B, which was at the time only an ONS. B wanted to continue and take it more serious and I didn't want to, I was very clear to B from the beginning about what I wanted. I was zoning out often thinking what to do and A noticed this and asked me about it and I told her. So in short, A knew my "relationship" with B.
Last time we met with A, we were 3 in total; me, A, and a boy from the initial tour. We decided to do a pub crawl with some others from the Hostel. In the last baclub after many alcohol and partying we started making out with A. It was near the end of the night, we 3 were the only ones left from our Hostel although the club still had quite a few people. After some time we parted and continued dancing with others as before.
Then I went to the loo and on my way back made a move towards another girl, C, and we started dancing with her. It got intimate and we started making out as well. When I asked her if she wants to join me back she asked for money which was the point I understood she was a hooker and parted right away. Remember this was at the end of the night, I was drunk. After that we went back and didn't talk with A about what happened next days. To me it didn't mean anything, we were at the club, drunk. Everyone makes out with everyone. And didn't think it meant anything to her either especially considering she thought I had a relationship with B.
This was more than a month ago, then everyone went their ways and we didn't see each other since. We weren't talking with A as often on IG either but was still talking from time to time.
Today I got another message from her on one of my stories, and in the end she said "I'm gonna ask you something were you flirting with a prostitute right after we kissed?🤣🤣🤣🤣". I told her I wasn't aware she was one and that I was drunk etc. The next thing I got was a very angry voicemail saying "You're dick, it's not the point, I didn't know you were such... such a dick" with some other boy in the back talking either by himself or with a third person "What! With a whore?". So they were talking about me apparently.
Am I really the asshole here, I'm very conflicted. I can see her point although she knew about B and still made out with me. Plus we all were drunk and it's a freaking club, everyone makes out with everyone...

 | Last night, the 2.4ghz signal from my router disappeared from the available wifi list on my phone. I checked wifi analyzer and saw that everything that was on channel 6 had apparently vanished from the air! It was like this for a few minutes.What might have caused this?
