I’m used to getting those free previews for Super Duolingo. I don’t particularly care for free previews (I’ve been burned by other “free” previews), so I try to avoid them when possible. Usually this means closing out of Duolingo instead of clicking “get started”.
This is what I did last night, as always.
This morning, I open Duolingo to find myself with a “free two week preview”? Usually I’m able to realize when I accidentally click on a “freemium button”, as it’ll show a “welcome to/congrats you’ve got Super Duolingo now!” screen. It didn’t.
I use the heart system on the app to help me know how well I’m doing with a concept. Can I get through with no mistakes? I must really understand it! Am I out of hearts? I should study more with supplemental materials to figure this out!
I find whenever I’ve had their “no hearts” system, I don’t acknowledge as well how I am doing with concepts. I know it’s not great but it doesn’t stick as well.
So anybody else get hijackered by a free preview they never wanted?
(Note: I’m not gonna go yelling at the owl company because usually a company’s first move is gonna be “here is more free or discounted use of our paid features”, which isn’t what I’m looking for.
I know I can turn off the Unlimited Hearts but to me that’s basically the Big Draw that makes Super different. Sure, there is personalized practice but I feel like there are also areas naturally along the path which will do the same thing. And “ad free” is just “ads for Max”. So I don’t particularly care for Super. I don’t use the features and don’t like the bird app reminding me to cough up money to continue doing something do don’t care for.) /rant

i've just bought the in-game editor to use it to play as a DoF, but i can't seem to find any info on how to change the role of staff members... Do i have to terminate their contract, and then re-hire them as the role i want?
I'm starting without job, so that I can make the current manager an assistant manager, and the current assistant manager a coach, so that i really replicate that i've taken on the role as Director of Football.

The girl who does my lamination recommended powder brows. My eyebrows are currently 7 weeks out from a lamination, so basically their natural state.
I’ve read these horror stories about removal and poor aging and don’t want to make a mistake for convenience.
I’ve never done any eyebrow tattooing or PMU on my eyebrows.

2025.01.30 17:50 Admirable-Ice7349 When did I start feeling better?
Been over 6 weeks since the breakup closing in on 7.
We were together for 2.5 years from the age of 18 to 21.
She ended things due to loss of feelings and didn’t really give me much explanation and we never spoke again. Still see her out at social events due to being in the same wider friendship group.
Can honestly say I feel so much better. Don’t think of her much during the day if at all. Sometimes a little at night and usually a small bit in the mornings but I don’t carry the day with a heavy chest feeling down.
I will see her at social events in the future which may set me back a small bit but out with that I have been no contact and stopped checking her TikTok posts and reposts and stuff a few weeks back.
At this rate I know for a fact in a few months time I’ll be able to see her, give her a smile and carry on walking and it won’t hurt me anymore. Looking forward to then.

So l met a girl about two weeks ago at a party and she approached me, we talked, had a lot in common etc, so at the end of the night I asked for her socials and the next day I asked if she wanted to meet up for drinks. She seemed equally enthusiastic about it so we did a couple of days later.
It went really well I thought, good chemistry, she found me funny and interesting and asked me lots of questions and we chatted for about 4.5 hours, no awkwardness at all. At the end of the night we kissed and just as I got back home she messaged me saying she had fun and wanted to see me again next week to which I said yea, definitely just let me know when you're free.
I didn't message her over the rest of the week as I didn't really have anything else to say and also I had a lot of work to do and was generally busy. So on Monday I tried to follow up on meeting this week but since then it's been complete radio silence... she hasn't even opened my messages.
It just strikes me as odd that you can go from being so enthusiastic about seeing someone and wanting a second date to not responding to them in just under a week.

I have a 2024 Outback Wilderness and my girlfriend and I have put just shy of 23,000KM on it, primarily on back/forth roadtrips to the mountains here in Alberta.
Traveling there requires the frequent use of two lane highways, and we noticed that every once in awhile a car would flash its highbeams at us. At first I thought they were being neighbourly about an upcoming speed trap, but we eventually realized its because the headlights are poorly aimed from the factory and they absolutely blind oncoming traffic on two lane highways at night.
Just a heads up that you may be driving people absolutely nuts.

The process is made way too difficult. Even if the insurance covers it, it is incredibly difficult to find a doctor who will perform it if you do not have children already and they want the husband’s permission. People seem to think the process is easier than real life.
My wife was having severe bleeding every period for years, bad enough to require multiple blood transfusions. We did not want to have children. She had a miscarriage while having an IUD, it actually made the bleeding worse (this was before I transitioned). Ultimately she collapsed in the ER from blood loss (she was an ER nurse on duty when it happened, they refused to let her take sick leave, which is whole another issue) and the doctor had the balls to ask me if I would give my permission with her having an emergency hysterectomy since he felt that we might change our minds about not having children. She was f@&king literally dying of blood loss. I told him that she is having the surgery NOW and it was not my decision and to stop delaying it. She had asked him multiple times in the years prior for a hysterectomy. He wanted me to sign something which I refused to sign in principle because it was her decision and she did not need my permission. I would have signed it in a heartbeat if I had to. My father in law threatened to kill the doctor if he didn’t do the procedure. He reluctantly did the procedure telling us that we would change our minds about children. 11 years later we still do not regret it. She had been trying to get a hysterectomy for like 6 years. The doctor then decided to leave the parts in there, I believe the cervix (by the time that became an issue fortunately the original doctor had died), which ultimately turned into another issue that had to be removed surgically another time (with a much better doctor). This happened in the state of New York, so I can’t even imagine what it would have been in Texas…
