Hi, I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I've noticed recently that I can do or say something, think what feels like an intrusive thought while I do or say it, and then become convinced that that intrusive thought was actually my motivation for saying the thing. Case in point: I can make a joke to my girlfriend, think an intrusive thought about her while I'm making the joke, and then obsessively worry about my true intentions behind making the joke. Has anybody else experienced this?

2025.01.30 18:30 Nostalgia37 World Maps in Custom Spiral Campaign Settings

Hey everyone, I'm a new DM (we've completed 4 ~2.5 hour sessions so far) who has been setting their campaign in a custom setting that I'm building out as players explore it. My players have arrived at a small town and, as our last session ended, they briefly mentioned looking for a cartographer or someone who can provide them with a map. Providing them with a map isn't something I'm inherently opposed to, however I feel like I would be forced to commit to a much larger portion of the world than I'm comfortable with at this point (or maybe ever). Which leads to my main question: How do people handle maps while building spiral campaigns?
I have a good idea of the local area but that's it. I don't have a handle on some fairly basic questions that I'd need to answer to build out a map of the world or even the kingdom/country they're in. I have sketched out the immediate area for myself to try and ensure some consistency, and thought about cleaning it up and sharing but am a little concerned about the precedent it sets and worry that I'll have to do the same for each new area they go to during the campaign.
I know that I can always communicate this to my players and I'm confident they'll be understanding of that fact, but I'd like to keep that as a last resort because I think it will break some of the immersion of the world. I'd like to explore some potential in-game reasons that might explain why maps aren't available, but all my ideas so far feel sort of forced and inorganic and likely wouldn't hold as they get to bigger towns.

I (39F) am a single person with an elderly mother (73F) and an autistic brother (35M). We live paycheck to paycheck. Groceries are expensive, my brother doesn’t have insurance or social security, and my mother should have retired years ago but can’t because I don’t make enough money to support all of us. I don’t know what to do.
I have health insurance and a full time job, as does my mother, but we rent our home and have only very small savings. We barely scrape by. We have family nearby but they don’t help us. We make too much as a family to get food stamps or Medicaid or other state benefits, and my state doesn’t offer Medicaid to low income people anyway. My brother has no health insurance because he’s too old to be on my mother’s.
I don’t know where else to turn. I’m afraid of growing food prices and my mother’s age. She needs to retire but we just don’t have enough money. She couldn’t save money because she was a single mother taking care of three children, and now she also supports her grandchildren, my sister, my disabled brother, and myself. She’s old and has many health problems, and I can’t help her because I don’t have a high paying job. When she dies, I’ll be unable to support myself and my brother.
For context, my brother has high functioning autism, amongst other processing disorders, and has never worked. He was diagnosed when he was very young and was in special needs classes and schools all of his childhood. My mother and I support him financially. My mother claims him as a dependent. We once applied for disability, but he was denied because they declared him physically capable of work, and they said he should try working a job. However, he’s applied to local jobs (like at the grocery store) and has never been hired, and I’m not sure that he’s capable of handling work with other people, because he often misses social cues and gets frustrated by many social interactions. At home, I constantly have to keep him on task just to do things like take out the trash and clean the dishes. I don’t know how an employer would accommodate him. We also live in a semi-rural area and don’t have access to public transport, and he does not drive, so it would be difficult getting him to/from a job.
He also has health problems and weight issues, and social security/disability would really help with getting him to a doctor regularly and paying for his medicine. I applied to a charity program for him at our community health center, but they want IRS documents that I don’t have, and we probably make “over the threshold” anyway… which is so frustrating, because even though we make an income, we still can’t afford to support him.
I want to get him into some sort of program to help him learn skills or at least have some sort of support, but most of the programs in my area are geared toward children. I don’t know how to give him the support he needs so he can have a fulfilling life that’s more than just sitting at home and doing chores. It would also be really helpful, financially, if he had some sort of fixed income that could help with bills.
Does anyone have any advice?

Hey y'all. So still very new to recording and the tools/instruments need. I have a Behringer UMC404HD for a USB Interface and I recently just purchased a pair of Mackie CR3.5BT-LTD-WHT speakers. The speakers have 1/4 and RCA connectors and the 404 has RCA, 1/4, and XLR
My question is, what would be the best cable and connection to use?
I bought the speakers at GC and they recommended a RCA to 1/4 cable, which I bought. As I was leaving, a random customer stopped me and recommended RCA to XLR and stated the GC staff was inexperienced with recording. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
