 | I had a plumber out that said replacing I need to replace this run or galvanized piping(circled in red). I will also need to replace the old galvanized going tot he stack and through the middle of the stack. My thought is to cut about a foot down from the top and take out everything in between and tie it into the fernco at the bottom of the PVC. Hello good people of reddit. This is a post I made in shitrentals but perhaps here is better:
I’m moving from Sydney to Melbourne in just over a week. I found this rental transfer advertised on flatmates.com.au, arranged for a relative to take photos, look around, and measure up. The existing tenant and I have agreed to proceed, I applied, the tenant recommended me to the landlord, and I’ve been approved. I’ve paid the REA half the transfer processing fee (which I think is excessive but let it go) as the current tenant only paid half and I wasn’t going to fight that battle needlessly.
I’ve signed a rental transfer form from the property manager and a bond transfer form from the RTBA. The vacancy date on the transfer form is 10/02 and the rental agreement ends on 14/02. We will be signing a new agreement starting on 15/02.
The current tenant wanted me to pay the bond to them in full before we move in. They moved in about 2 years ago and also came in on a rental transfer. A formal condition report hasn’t been done since 02/2022 and we are taking liability of all damage since then. I’ve tried multiple times to offer paying half the bond now and half after doing an inspection but they refused to give me their bank details. A couple of days ago, they wanted us to do the inspection on 7/02 because their housemate is leaving Aus on 8/02 but didn’t explain how this is relevant (I’m assuming this person is not also leaving Aus). Now tonight, they’ve decided to provide me their bank details along with a deadline to pay the bond in full by COB today (Friday) and have sent an email to the REA also outlining this and accusing me of not paying. They are threatening to cancel our agreement and pick another prospective tenant.
I’ve drafted an email to send them later this morning and I’ll also contact the REA but I’d love some more perspective. I want to propose doing an inspection together when the apartment is vacant/empty so there’s no risk of being liable for damage if they do a shitty removal job, whether that’s on 7/02 as they wish, or on 10/02 which is the day before I move in. It seems insane to me that someone could apply, be approved by the REA, all before we settle this conflict. They are being weirdly hostile. I should also mention I will now propose immediately sending half the bond, money for the wardrobe I’m buying off them, and the 4 days rent we owe that they’ve already paid for. Then, after the inspection we settle the remaining bond monies.
Surely if all the transfer forms are signed by all parties, the current tenant has no power to reverse this, right? I feel like I’m being reasonable and worried I’m losing my marbles here… Can someone set me straight?

Most of us counsel Badges based on what we studied in school, our careers, and our hobbies, but you don't need a whole career just to learn to lead a Merit Badge! And many of them aren't common careers, like Basket Weaving, Pioneering, and the Citizenships, for example. I would like to counsel a few more Badges myself, and more importantly, get more of the parents in my Troop registered as MB Counselors and active. Yes, I can read the Merit Badge booklets for myself. I've started to do that, and it makes me feel underqualified. I would want to be knowledgeable enough to answer Scout questions in _more_ depth than the booklet. For hands-on requirements, knowing the steps for doing something properly is a start, but I would want enough experience to be able to troubleshoot when things aren't going right.
So, if you have taken training that made you feel confident to counsel a particular Badge, please share what the training was and where or how you found it!

Uhhh?? I didn’t know that opossums were so brutal but one of my roos (bantam) were found decapitated inside of the pin, right next to the wire. Virtually no blood on a white rooster. The only reason I know it was an opossum was the little guy coming past my front door camera. Rip little guy :( I am now taking measures to further protect the spaces closer to the ground, this is my bachelors coop.
