hello, i’m making this post here because i don’t have enough karma to post on the idv subreddit. i have just gotten my steam deck and am able to run the game and log in, but the splash screen does not appear. i do not want to play this in desktop mode because it feels more complicated there with the way the mouse moves. here is what i have done:
- downloaded the installer through the official website. downloading through lutris provided no results in game mode and only crashed it.
- installed the game through lutris
- added the dwrg.exe file to steam as a non-steam game
- changed the compatibility mode to proton experimental

2025.01.30 23:22 52fighters Apps losing connection (hibernating?) when not using my Pixel 9 Pro XL
There are two apps I use a lot. One is RingCentral for my business. That's a VOIP phone service that has an app so I can take calls when I'm away from my desk. The other is Briar Messenger. I've noticed that when I lock my screen the apps will sometimes connectivity.
I've set these apps to allow background data and unrestricted mobile data usage. I've also set to allow background usage (battery).
I've turned off adaptive connectivity. No data saver. Doesn't matter if I am on data or wifi. I read somewhere that "always on display" might cause this problem so I turned it off.
My network is AT&T. I live in an area with very good signal.
What am I missing? Any idea why I'd be having this problem? Suggestions for a fix?

I’ve recently made the decision to drop two girl friends I’ve known for several years because they’ve been snakes in the grass. I recently divorced and have been having a hard time. I finally decided to start dating and have been talking to my friends about men I’d be interested. 2025.01.30 23:22 AsteroidBomb Noob at PC gaming looking for an upgrade and I don't know what to do. Advice?
I've only started playing games on PC in the past 2 years or so and my current Lenovo laptop's hinge is falling apart for the third time. It's really weak, about comparable to a 360. I paid $700ish for it. I'm looking for advice on what to do about getting a better PC, most likely another laptop due to limited space at home, that could play games like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3. I don't even really know the difference between processors and graphics cards, though I have been looking around. One friend has advised me to use eBay for a huge discount, while others said eBay is a bad idea and they think I should just pay whatever I can. I have the money, but would like to cap spending at $1.5K at the most, unless that just isn't realistic. Any recommended models and/or what store or service to buy it from? And is there anything else I should be aware of with getting or using one of these laptops?

I've had to replace two SSD drives on my P43S after I get detection errors, which become more frequent over time. The third one began failing this morning after the laptop's battery died during a power outage. They also seem to happen after the laptop has been jostled in my bag while walking.
I'm stumped as to whether this is a physical issue with the SSD connections or a software issue.
As a precaution I've tried making an image to a flash drive with clonezilla but it can't seem to detect the internal drive. Perhaps this is related?

Certain books by J.R.R. Tolkien(all the same edition) are not displaying the cover in the table of contents and I cannot flip to the cover. The cover still appears in my library, when I go to top menu > book icon(far left) > view cover, and when the device is powered off. Out of 25 titles currently in KOreader, three titles by Tolkien are the only books doing this.

I (22M) have been together with my gf (F21) for about a year now. Her immediate family ended up losing their home, with them having to spend their lives for that year predominantly in a hotel. Her family has rarely had a sense of stability, so I have tried my best to understand her stand-offness and lack of communication. I had my gf stay with my family for most of the year, with it being convenient to her since it’s write by her community college. Over the year, my family has had on and off issues with her, with her typically refusing to clean, help cook with me (I don’t put her to do this alone, just to assist me, and downright rarely ever talking to them, no hi’s or goodbyes, just silence and no acknowledgement of my family in the room. Whenever im at work and occupied, she texts me to talk to them whenever something comes up, when she’s in the room right across from them. She has no problem doing these when I promise to pay her tho. She also likes to punish me when I annoy her or get frustrated with her by giving me the silent treatment, sometimes for hours on end. I’ve cried several times to her because of this alongside the lack of communication between us. Once she sees that I’m crying or very upset, she love bombs me and I do fall for it for the most part. I’m not completely innocent in this either, I do tend to be a people pleaser and I like to make sure that everyone is taken care of and happy, and I try to always make sure that my gf is seen in a good light to them. She doesn’t share these sentiments, with the concept of family not being important to her, with her admitting that she cares the most for herself, which I try to understand. Her family finally got an apartment, with her now staying there over the weekends. Whenever I pick her up when the week begins so that she can go to her school which is close, we are arguing within the first several hours because she is more concerned about the stuff she needs to do, rather than any of the errands, obligations, or homework that I have to take care of. Keep in mind, she’s at school for five hours then chooses to relax in my room the rest of the day. I work 6-8 hour shifts each weekday and it would just help to know that she’s helping out in the house, not as in she’s doing everything she’s in with her, moreso her being an active part of the household since everyone has tidying up to do. Now that her family has a steady place to live, would I be the asshole to break up with her?

I have been seeing my current girlfriend for about a year and a half. I am a single father and she is a single mother, and our kids get along well (other than boys will be boys). Without spewing too much guts, she was in that relationship for a long time before me. 6 years I believe. Her son doesn't really know his real dad much, bit of a degen- but that's neither here nor there. We are old high school friends, and she was seeing him when we started catching up... sparks kind of started to fly and she eventually left him in pursuit of me. I had said many times, I didn't want her to make that choice based on me... but she did regardless. Again, this was a year and a half ago - and her ex and her son still have heavy involvement in eachothers lives. He has some weekends there, takes him to sports on occasion.. they text a bunch. I'm not a fan... I have always had issues with exs being in people's lives and that very well may be a ME issue - but I guess I wanted to get the consensus of the internet to see if i need to fix my own way of thinking or if you would find this weird as well. I think my issue is 1) my girlfriend and him obviously have to coordinate all of this, so they're communicating...2) it doesn't really allow for someone like me to be able to step in/fill that role when given the opportunity 3) it doesn't feel...healthy. I know it's tough on a young man to grow up without a father - and I'm not about to deny someone of that ... but since they ended their relationship, and she has moved on... the ex will eventually too. It feels like prolonging the inevitable. Or they hold on to eachother forever. Who knows.
