It seems to me that thinking about severed people can show us some interesting, and maybe counter-intuitive, things about what death is.
I usually think of death as something that happens at a particular moment, and it involves a change that is entirely intrinsic to that moment -- you don't have to know what is going on in the future to know that someone died. Their body and mind both undergo an irrevocable transformation in that moment.
What is that transformation, exactly? If you believe in souls, it's relatively clear: the person's soul detaches from their body (though spelling out exactly what that means might be trickier than it looks). If you don't believe in souls, though, it's not so easy to say what that transformation is supposed to be. Roughly, I think the idea is that your body being in a certain state is a necessary condition for you being around, and in death, your body is irrevocably put out of that state.
No physical transformation like that ever happens to an innie, typically. So if that's what death is, an innie doesn't die, typically. That doesn't mean they are immortal, though. There is a last moment when they exist; in *that* sense, they do die. But you can't, in general, know which moment is their last, when it happens. It depends on whether their outtie ever returns to a severed floor. Mark W thought he was retired; had he stayed retired, his last day at 5X would have been his last moment ever. Turned out no, there were more moments to come. Was his last moment at the Kier branch his last moment ever? We don't know.
The kind of death an innie typically has is not something intrinsic to the moment it happens; whether or not it's a death depends on what happens in the future. It is otherwise like every other moment of their life.
What this makes me think is that the way I *usually* think of death might be wrong. In particular, for someone like me, who doesn't believe in souls, it's not clear we really should think there is some state a physical body can get in such that, no matter what happens in the future, the person inhabiting that body isn't around any more. After all, though it is frequently beyond what is practically possible for us, it doesn't break any law of physics for a body to be returned to precisely the same state it was in before someone "died". If that happened, those of us who don't believe in souls should think the same person will have returned.
Maybe the right way to think of death *in general* is the way I described the death innies typically have. It isn't as a moment involving an irrevocable transformation intrinsic to that moment. Maybe the moment of your death is your last moment, and in principle there is no way of being absolutely certain when that last moment has come.
I speculate that the irrevocable-transformation view of death might be a hold-over from the soul-theory of personal identity, which is very intuitive, even if you don't think it's true.

sorry for the rant! but this has been eating away at me for a while and ive had nowhere to say it
im a girl under 18 but i've identified with the term asexual for a little while now and always been super comfortable with it. ive also gone back and forth a little bit as to whether i think im aromantic or not, but it didn't really bother me for the longest time as to whether i was or not, until recently.
i love the idea of being in a relationship with someone. i think its a combination of a lot of my friends getting into relationships and writing a story where romance is a big part of it that ive actually started to realise like.. oh yeah this is a thing!! and it sounds really nice and id love to be in a relationship too!
i know QPRs exist but really i love the idea of a romance, except i literally dont think im capable of experiencing love in that way. its kind of a mild thing to rant about but its so frustrating cause i dont actually know and i find myself questioning each time i form a strong connection with someone because? is this what romantic feelings are supposed to feel like? am i just making it up or convincing myself i do because that's what im supposed to be feeling? and what if i am aromantic, and i never get to experience love in the way i want to?
a lot of the time i see people in the asexual/aromantic community completely dismiss love/romance out of hand and obviously thats totally fine (live your truth <3) i just havent seen anyone else talk about feeling anything like this

Much like how Elden Ring offers private servers through seamless coop, I wish it was possible to do so for B4B.
The capability at that stage to create new storylines, weapons/gear, characters. It would be fantastic.
Opening up and breathing in a refreshing gulp of new air into the game.
Do not gete wrong, I love the game. My last recorded hours were 1700 and a half or so hours. I had hopes because I've wanted something to learn how to do certain skills and I saw the perfect option through this game.
But we were robbed it by Warner Bros DMCA b.s..
I'm glad at least we have an option to do some small edits for characteenemy skins or deck builds through nexus. But that's all.

Mitel's MiVoice Connect platform (formerly known as ShoreTel Connect) running on a Windows Server OS has a known defect (MiVC-6310) whihc states "after Windows updates from April 9 are applied (KB5036896 and KB5036899), several MiVoice Connect services will not start on HQ/DVS. This defect was supposedly going to be fixed in version 20, and again in HF1 for version 20, but according to the release notes for HF1, the issue is still present and has been deferred to the next release (HF2?). The workaround is to uninstall the windows updates (KB5036896) and/or (KB5036899).
Has anyone been able to work around this without having to uninstall the cumulative updates? Does anyone have any updates from their Mitel providers about this defect and a road map for fixing? Does anyone still use Windows for Mitel servers at this point? I prefer Windows but I think I'd take a Linux class to get Mitel separated from Windows OS at this point.
